Anandi' who dared to replace Pratyusha on 'Balika Vadhu' speaks

Toral Rasputra is passionate about her role, but cool on the comparison to Prats. An exclusive with the TV star

As the Pratyusha Banerjee juggernaut rolls on towards life on a new TV serial on Star Plus, leaving the success and controversy of Colors' 'Balika Vadhu' drenched in stardust, the character of Anandi still lives on.

If Toral Rasputra is to build a fan-base of her own, she would have surely achieved and accomplished more than any TV actress, simply because the backlash from Prats leaving the show (she played Anandi) has resulted in some serious collateral damage to Rasputra.

Pratyusha's huge fan base has lashed out at Toral for not meeting their expectations or matching up to Prats while playing the character of Anandi.

In her first exclusive conversation post the 'Bring Prats Back' campaign, Toral reveals to Emirates24|7 the challenges she faces as 'the new Anandi'.

"I am finding the role quite challenging as Anandi has become a household face and the character is very popular," says the 25-year old actor.

"There is pressure although now it is not as much as before and that is only because there is a lot of expectation. Pratyusha has done a great job as Anandi, hence, people are looking for something similar."

BV highlights the strong Indian culture and the importance of a joint a family. Hence, there are several characters from a grandmother to parents and in-laws.

Anandi is portrayed as the fine thread that binds the lot.

Toral says that Anandi has different shades and one needs to get into the soul of the character.

"I am learning about her relationship with the different people in her family and as each day passes I am able to understand these characters better."

As for the negative feedback, she says, "I have not received any negative response from my directors, in fact they are very supportive and keep guiding me accordingly.

"Even my family and friends have given me a positive feedback."

Pratyusha says she left the show due to its hectic schedule, but Toral is geared up and will leave no stone unturned to win over the audience.

"Anandi is a lovable character and I have just stepped into her shoes, hence I have to put in a little extra effort to get the feel and act in a particular manner the role requires. It does get hectic but helps me understand Anandi better," said Toral.

For all BV fans, Toral isn't going anywhere and promises to stick by the show.

"I have been watching this show for the past four-and-a-half years and have always wanted to be a part of it. I will not go anywhere leaving this," she said.

Now, a person who get Ripe mango free of cost will say like this only. Toral, do you have any iota of idea what ur effort ur predecessor has put on for this character. U r watching this show from the beginning so it is assumed that u understand Anandi character. But your acting shows that you are nowhere close to the ABC of this role. For BV team you may be a good actor. Every actors has its own aura/ impact while portraying a role. Not every role suits anyone. Otherwise everyone can do everyone's role. This kind of role is tough and ur fortunate that u r portraying this role at a time when anandi's traumatic period is over. Now on ther may b thick and thins but they will not b so great as compared to past. So not very difficult part is there for you. About negative feedbk, Toral, ye public sab jaanti hai. Ur comments will not make them fool. Y u will tell publicly that ur director/ parents/ friends didnt give u negative feedback from viewers. I am not prats fan. I m posting in general as a viewer of show who left the show when you entered. It seems that soul of the show has gone. Now only body remains. I am not keen to watch a body without soul.

She did not dare to replace Pratyusha. She underestimated it. One should aware of what they are capable of doing.

Surprisingly director didn't have issues with the way she is portraying Anandi.. joke of the century. BV has got a new director? Or Toral got her own director while stepping into the show?

Why will friends and family give negative comments. It will be the viewers.

If she is watching BV for 4 years, that too being an actress, why is it so difficult to get into the skin of the character? Just incapable?

Who cares whether she will be with the show or not. She is not doing any ehsaan.. She don't want to be unemployed.. it is just that simple.

You have crossed the limits with your over publicity of your new actress. You can do that as it earns your bread and butter. At the same time you can not cause damage to Pratyusha by spreading baseless rumours. It is you who cut the chords with her. Cheap tricks by Colors and PH. You are simply adding fuel to fire. Whole world is watching. Keep that in mind.

ok.so director ..her frns n family liked her performance...probably they r the only ones watching the show...rest gave up :-D

Last line padhkar aisa lag raha hai jaise Toral madam elaan kar rahin hain viewers ko ki chahe kitni hi criticize karo.. chahe mujhe pasand karo na karo.. main nahi jaane wali kahin 😆😆 Aap Anandi ko samajhne ki koshish mein time spend kare na ki interviews mein. Woh bhi aise jo gussa dilae 😉

Koi samjhao madam ko ki viewers make or break stars.

she can't openly say that the director is critizing her, if he is, because then every one will question the director that if even you feel the actress in not working then why choose her...but i hope the this part is not true and the director is hopefully working on to make her better because even i feel that she lacks many qualities of Anandi which can be gained only by hard work and understanding the character

I do not want to compare how was old anandi and how id the new one. But I like new anandi and BV since last two weeks.

T Anandi is just not working for me... stopped watching BV after giving her 2 weeks. but enough is enough. no more BV for me. No story line, just keep dragging the tracks, each festival 2 weeks that too late, now transfer 2 weeks, saanchi accident will be 1 week and after that holi track will be surely be for 2 weeks. in spite of all this i used to watch BV just to see sidusha pair. but now top of that New anandi? what a bad replacement. she mite improve and stay in BV but for me i am done with it.

Of course the director will never openly criticize because it was probably his des icon to take her as anandi. No one in any powerful position in any profession accepts that they made a wrong desicion. Bv director is her biggest ally because he will move heaven and earth to prove that he was right.
