Part I : Life after 4 Years

Shiv:

It has been three years since Shiv left Jaitser.. after the birthday incident he was there for another 6 months, when Anandi got divorced and anyway the marriage proposal by Dadisa did not settle. Shiv felt bad initially but then he respected Anandi's wish and they both worked for some time on various projects relate to Jaitser administration.

When Shiv got his transfer orders from Jaitser he was kind if happy as it was difficult for him to see Anandi every day and still feel that indifference in her eyes, Whereas his feeling towards her were deepening day by day but he decided to give Anandi entire choice of this decision. He had all the appreciation for Anandi's family who showered on him so much of love and affection.

Anandi:

Anandi, had to learn to live with her divorcee status and the pain she felt. Her 13 years of wait was over finally with Jagat out of her life. She was trying to bring her focus to her school and work but Shiv presence made her uncomfortable. Though Shiv never made her feel so, but she knew that Shiv always took special care not to make her feel uncomfortable. One day she heard from one of the Panchayat members that shiv is being transferred and she wanted to run to his office and see him but then she just controlled herself and went home. Shiv did not talk to her about his transfer and on one fine day there was a small farewell celebration in his office and he left. She felt very lonely after Shiv left, since shiv presence in her life was very visible. The new collector was also a nice person and had great plans for Jaitser so work wise it was very fulfilling for Anandi to work with him. But in middle of this Anandi felt there is something more that she needs to do.

After 4 years

Shiv was back home at Udaipur after his latest posting and promotion. He was happy since he could stay with his mother. His mother who was a visiting lecturer in a college in Udaipur was also very happy to have her son at home. Shiv is now on senior position had lot more in hand to handle in his job. It was around 4 PM when Shiv's car was moving and his driving to trying making way from a big crowd on the road. The traffic was blocked. For few seconds Shiv waited in the car, and then as a responsible citizen and government servant he got out to see the matter. There was some minor accident on road and a lady had fainted after got pushed by a speedy car and had some bruises and perhaps some internal injuries. He made his way through the crowd to see the matter. There a girl lying on pavement on her stomach fainter and some blood from hand and shoulders. He immediately shouted at the crowd to stay away and asked his driver to get the car close to the girl.

Shiv sat down and held the lady and turn her on her back '. She was unconscious, with all hair covering her face seemed around 25 ' 27 years of age. She was wearing Salwar Kurta and appeared to be from a well off family. Her college bag was with her and books were also lying on the road. She commanded his attendants to pick up all stuff and she placed the girl carefully on the back seat of his car. The driver told Shiv "Sir why are you taking trouble, I will take her to hospital in another car". Shiv said "There is no time to do all that. We don't know how serious are the injuries"? He sat in the car with the girl who was still unconscious. As the car started the girl fell on Shiv lap and remained like that. Shiv tried to uncover her face as after accident all her loose hair had covered her face and she needed to have clear air.

And it is first time Shiv saw the girl's face clearly... it was Anandi.

And they met once again...

The unconscious girl was Anandi. For nextfew seconds Shiv was completely lost and when he gathered himself, By that time his moral duty was replaced by worry and concern and surprise. Shiv asked the driver to move fast and take her to the nearest best hospital.

Immediate attention was paid at the hospital being Shiv himself there to attend the matter. After around 40 minutes of primary medical care the doctor informed Shiv that the girl is ok now and they have taken all necessary care and she is conscious now. This was the moment …. After 4 years Anandi and Shiv were seeing each other.

Shiv gently opened the door and moved in softly and there was Anandi .. pale, thin and all scared … Anandi : Aaap? Yahaan? Mainn? Kaise???

Shiv smiled and said – Kya Karenn? Jab bhi aap museebat me aati hain mujhe to aana hee hota hai.. and he tried to make her smile ..

But Anandi was shocked and surprised and was happy to see him.

Shiv took charge of the situation and got her discharged from the hospital and in spite of Anandi's non-stop denial he took her to his home. On the way home Anadi told Shiv that she had completed her graduation in Jaitser through distant education but she came to Udaypur to complete her Post Graduation is Social Work (MSW) and has been staying as paying guest with one of the families near her college. She was also running and NGO now in Jaitser and other districts with causes relating to child marriage and other female related social issues.

Shiv had been also moving places and was in Udaipur for last 6 months on his new role.

Shiv: Shiv was thinking she has changed so much in her appearance but I am glad that you are still the same Anandi. His mind was full with flashback memories and he was just quiet.

Anandi: Anandi was thinking. Shiv is still the same .. calm, composed and helpful without bothering about his position. Anandi felt a streak of happiness in her heart seeing Shiv. She had been really focusing on her life for past 4 years. Her life was sorted somewhat after the divorce proceedings were over. After an year of divorce Jagya was back home and on Anandi's request at home people forgave him and he was managing the hospital and doing well. But the only condition Anandi had put forward was there will be no relation between Jagya and Anandi other than friends.

Anandi started feeling awkward .. who all are there is Shiv's home? If his wife is there then what will she say? How will they react seeing her?

Shiv: Chaliye .. Ghar aa gaya.. and he was there to give support to her.. Anandi woke up from her thoughts. Aah haaan.!!!

Shiv called .. Mom.. Mom…

A lady appeared from inside and Anandi was in for another shock. This was Mrs. Sujata Shekher visiting faculty in her college and one of her favorite teacher. Both of them were happy to see other. Quickly things settled and Anandi started feeling better.

They all had tea and Anandi requested to take leave from them. Shiv was worried and really wanted to tell her to stay for some more time but could not.. he so much wanted to ..

Shiv : Anandi .. agar aapko aitraaz naa ho to kya aap mujhe apna mobile number de sakti hain .. main kam se kam aapki tabiyat ke bare me pooch to sakta hoon..

Anandi Hesitated .. nahee main aab thekk hoon..

Shiv – Chinta mat kariye main apko pareshan nahee karonnga and smiled.. Aaap logo ne mera bahut khyal rakha tha Jaitser to main itna tokar he sakta hoon.. Number dijiye nahee to main abhi Dadiji ko phone karke appke accident ke bare me bata doonga..

Anadi – Nahee nahee … Anadi was embarrassed: they exchanged numbers.. Shiv was smiling ..

Shiv mother's made Anandi promise that's she must come to their home on Saturdays

Shiv asked his driver to drop her..

Anandi was making her way out with so many thoughts .. she saw a small boy running into the house calling papa .. papa.. and the boy hugged Shiv .. Shiv smiled and said kya hua beta ? the boy was around 2.5 to 3 years old.

Anandi turned and looked at shiv and Shiv looked at her.. and they exchanged questions and answers without any words.
