Prakash Raj breaks silence after ED grilling over betting app links

Actor Prakash Raj was seen outside the Enforcement Directorate’s Hyderabad office on Wednesday, following a summons in connection with a case involving the alleged promotion of betting apps. The ED had recently issued notices to several celebrities from the South Indian film industry who were reportedly linked to promotional activities for betting platforms.

After his appearance, Prakash Raj addressed the media and clarified his side of the story. He shared that his involvement dated back to 2016 and that he had chosen not to move forward with the campaign on ethical grounds. According to the actor, he did not accept any payment and made this clear during the enquiry. He added that he fully cooperated with the officers and shared all required information to help complete the investigation.

The actor also addressed speculation about possible political motives behind the summons. He dismissed the idea and said that he viewed the officers as simply doing their duty. He reiterated that, as a citizen, it was his responsibility to respond and assist in the process.

Prakash Raj later reposted a video clip summarising the day’s events and thanked people for their support and curiosity. The investigation is part of a wider probe by the ED into celebrity involvement in digital betting promotions and potential money laundering violations.

Rana Daggubati, another major name from the South industry, was also summoned by the ED but has reportedly asked for his appearance to be rescheduled. The list of celebrities involved appears to be growing, with names like Nidhhi Agerwal, Ananya Nagalla, Pranitha Subhash, Sreemukhi, Shyamala, Harsha Sai, Bayya Sunny Yadav and Local Boy Nani also making headlines.

With multiple popular faces now under scrutiny, the case has grabbed significant public attention. Prakash Raj, known for balancing acting with activism, continues to maintain his stance that he did not benefit from the campaign and has nothing to hide.
