....there is a small.....may be a shade of difference......i am not talking of an obsessive
Amoli.......but an Amoli who will cross the boundaries of right & wrong for her love.....
.....in terms of first move obsession their love is topped up!!!! DV has ensured that.....

....what i am talking about is the following...lets say DV in his new found avatar
of a fair person decides he has unfairly wronged Urmila and decides to bring her
back to the haveli........he has no interest in her........but what will Amoli do?????

And what are those beliefs'......climbing into the bedroom window of a man she has been warned against? Spoiling the whole family's meal in order to get her back on 1 person (the chili/salt? Epi) Approaching a Dr. to do something unethical, conniving & scheming with Chandana ala the pregnancy issue, watching a man get stoned'....unperturbed & I won't even mention the whole Sandhya/baby exchange plan!

Perhaps some of you might say its justified. By that logic, so is shop-lifting to feed a hungry family or 26/11. Should the end always justify the means?

In my opinion Amoli always had a certain edge to her, she was never one to turn the other cheek. She is as 'Normal' as most people. The good & the bad co-exist'.....even in her.

She is no more beyond reproach than good ol' DV

She's the one standing in the witness box now, for she is guilty not so much for murder.......

Guilty of being rigid, judgmental & unbendingly stupid.......not to mention horrendous make-up in some scenes! :))

Amoli & Dv make me realize that we all walk the tight-rope everyday & some days we fall on the wrong side. So long as we can pick ourselves up & regain our balance'......all would be well in the world.

It has been one heck of an invigorating thread, my thanks to Leelaa for having started it.

If only Ms.Kapoor could see this energetic, sparring discussion.....she would be proud of her creation.

But @Pankaj205.... I do have to respond to some of them....

1. Amoli did not spoil everyone's meal.... she made the meal especially only for her "takhur" saab... and she ate it herself when he asks her if she can take the heat herself....

2.About the chandana..doctor...sandhya... episode... well all I can say is that... funnily, I did not consider it to be "unethical" considering what she was fighting against.... (but then that says a lot more about me than about Amoli). But she does go about it the most ethical way she could… talking to the doctor directly I mean J

3. And about her being "rigid, judgmental & unbendingly stupid" that is what made her pricelss

And.... as I said on a other post... Amoli is our sherini... A true tigress for our tiger… DV…

But my friend…. I enjoyed your post…. I was laughing my head off…Oh I loved this series…if it can generate this kind of debate, it is definitely worth fighting for…

As for eating it herself.....shows the lengths she would go to.......sort of....cut her nose to spite her face??

Guys brilliant discussion...i was missing the Devious delicious Deewana today...so here i am....i might not be as eloquent as u people but i have to give my view on Amoli's character...coz i felt through out the series i was consummed by DV's larger then life character....so here is what i perceive Amolis character as:

I dont think that everyone is right or in the right at all times...neither was Amoli..we all have our faults so did Amoli...the things i admire about Amoli was... her resourcefulness....the girl was intelligent....determined..she was brave beyond any village i ever expected to see...the best quality i thought was that she wouldnt take anything laying down...she gave amazing Bhashaans....she was sensitive, she was kind, she was perceptive....she understood Madhura long before anyone else could....she saw through DV, Urmila and even Shobna....she always fought to protect who she considered her own...loved this quality of hers....and best thing about her was that she fought for herself.

Actually i like everything about her...just like i like everything about the Devil....so lets call it her character flaws....she was self-righteous beyond belief,... Judgemental, stubborn (did i loved her determination or what) and a lil delusional too...she was obssessed about her idea of morality...just like DV was obssessed about her...so much so that she refused to see the reality of the situation...her Marriage to Radhey was one such thing....Radhey was the character who could never ever become her support system....but she refused to see the truth...she said she loved him.....and to a certain extent she had feelings for him.....strong feelings...but i dont think it was love.....it was a pre-constructed notion she had about marriage that directed her behavior rather then the depth of the relationship she shared with Radhey.....and then her denial...she definitely had Passionate feelings for DV...whether it be Hatred or Love which were more intense then anything she felt for Radhey....she was preoccupied with DV and his thoughts...first how to protect herself from him...then how tod defeat him...then how to escape him...then what if he finds her...then that wavering belief that he is here or not....then revenge...then concern...then compassion...then anger and finally love....she went through this whole journey just with DV....yet she refused to bow down...thats where EGO comes in....the more Importance DV gave her...the more her Ego increased...and attached to that her self righteousness....that made her go against her vow of revenge....she always wanted to be the better person in their relationship...always above him.....like the struggle to be on the extreme opposition...if he is the worst man...then she will become the best woman...if he is going seduce her...she will become the ice maiden....if he will sacrifice his freedom for her...then she will sacrifice her desire for revenge and be the better person....u understand where i m going with this.

As i have described her character...is it not possible in the furture that she falls in love with him....but keeps struggling with him and herself....because she thinks she is better than him....and will never give in??......i want to see that fight...i want to see both strong intelligent characters in a battle of wills.....strategies, Manipulation, insecurity, jealousy and Passionate emotions.....what do u guys think?
