Chapter 8

Arjun and Riya were still sitting with her in his arms while he was seated taking the support of the backrest on the bed. It was past lunch time. Arjun knew she must be hungry hence was going to ask her but then stopped seeing her sleeping peacefully while resting her head on his heart, a small smile gracing her lips. She was looking so peaceful and he didn’t have it in him to wake her up. But she needed to eat something and if she was taking these many pills and medications with such high doses she had to eat properly and on time. Hence, he took his phone from the bedside table beside him and ordered for both of them and then slowly without disturbing her he tried to get out of the bed. Key word being “tried”. She was pretty fast to recognize his movements. She was still in that mission mind of hers. As soon as he shifted a little, Riya opened her eyes looking out for the intruder but relaxed seeing him beside her.

Arjun: Sorry. I didn’t want to wake you up now. Arjun said softly while looking at her with a sorry expression.

Riya: It’s alright sir. I have been a very light sleeper or just say a zombie for past two years. It was bound to happen.

He felt something pinch his heart. She couldn’t even have a night’s sleep these past two years and knew nothing about it, neither could he do anything about it. He shaked his head trying to get rid of those thoughts and to focus on her at present and make her feel better.

Arjun: Alright. Now when you are already up, Go and get freshen up. I have again taken the liberty to order for both of us. He said with a chuckle which made her laugh a little as she nodded her head.

Riya: Of course, sir. Anyhow your taste isn’t that bad.

Arjun looked at her intently while smirking.

Arjun: Oh, you don’t even know Riya. My taste is always the best. He said as he winked at her leaving her standing there with an open mouth and red face.

Riya was shocked with the sudden change in his behavior. Yes, he was being nice since the time she had been back but now he was joking and laughing. She wasn’t even sure if he meant it or he just joked around but that something in his eyes told her he meant it exactly what she thought but again she was in a denial. Though none of them said anything, but they did realised the position they had been in. She in his arms, sleeping peacefully while he stroked her head ever so softly as if it was meant to be like that, sleeping with her, calmness depicted on their faces, content sigh escaping their lips as they snuggled closer. Both of them had known it all along just that they still didn't dare to point it out.

Riya came out of the room in a fresh pair of kurti and leggings only to find Arjun setting the food on the table. As soon as she reached the table both of them realized they were indeed very hungry. Soon they settled and quickly having food.

Shree was sitting in his living room alone as Liza had just left from there. Liza had known Riya since the college times but she was always awkward around her. Main reason being her closeness with Shree. Liza loved Shree since the college times but his closeness with Riya gave her an image that the too of them were a thing. After joining ETF, she found that Shree was alone without any Riya around him. Though she didn’t know about the fact that Riya was dead earlier soon during a chat she came to know of it. Still not the whole story, just that she was dead. She too didn’t pry on the topic more as she knew this something Shree was emotionally attached to. Soon after Liza’s joining Shree and her spent time together and slowly, they fell for each other. But now Riya was back and so were Liza’s insecurities. Today in the morning as soon as they were back home, Liza and Shree talked about it after he saw her being awkward around Riya. He clearly told her that there wasn’t anything between them except friendship, not earlier, not now and he was sure that wouldn’t happen ever. Liza did understand it. And she was also surprised to know that Riya and Shree weren’t known to each other from college rather they were childhood buddies. Practically twins from different mothers. Though, Liza was fine now, Shree didn’t want her to be insecure and thought not to be much involved with Riya, specially in front of Liza. Thinking about Riya, Shree was confused, how come she was alive when they all had seen her taking her last breath in front of them. He was the one who held her hand, checked her pulse but there wasn’t anything yet she was here. He was happy to have her back but he also wanted to know. How?

Chotu was in his house, flipping the T.V. channels while his brain was still registering all the changes that occurred. Their Riya was alive. The mission was successful. Sikandar was dead. The underworld was at the verge of extinction. Since Riya came back, he hadn’t talked to her after the first time at Sikandar’s place. It was still like a dream come true for him. But he also felt something was amiss. Something wasn’t like before. Had they forsaken Riya’s place? No, that was something impossible. But yet something was definitely changed. And for this Riya wasn’t the one responsible alone, it was everyone’s fault. Now when he thought, it was the first time he, Shree and Riya hadn’t left the office together. In fact, none of them even asked her if she needed any lift. They hadn’t even bothered to look at her. They just like any other day after her supposed death, left like they used to. Chotu felt sick. He knew they did a blunder and didn’t even realize that.

The girls obviously except Riya were all sitting together at Sakshi’s place. All of them were shocked, confused and frustrated with all that had happened at Sikandar’s place. It wasn’t like they weren’t happy. They were very happy that Sikandar was finished. But that girl they met. She was as if something else. D.I.G. sir was all the more totally trusting her. She was living with Sikandar and she wasn’t caught. In fact, she lived with him as his wife. Wasn’t it something they should be aware of? She being his wife helped them. Even if she was an undercover officer, was it possible that she didn’t feel anything for the man who trusted her so blindly? How was she even trust worthy? More than that, they had seen the ETF men being so emotional for her. Even the strict chief was all smiles, tears in his eyes, hugging her as if she were a glass doll. And the most important part, even though Sakshi didn’t believed, all of them saw how their ever strict, arrogant and rude Arjun sir was looking at her without blinking his eyes as if she was a precious possession, a hint of smile on his lips as he saw her meeting everyone. That was the first time ever they saw a little smile on his ever so stoic face.

Sheetal: Guys, do you know this Riya girl? Who even she is yaar? And we just know she was supposed to be dead somehow but here she comes back alive. I mean how did she even die?

Liza looked around the confused face of the others before answering.

Liza: Well guys, her name is Riya Mukherjee. I have known her back from college.

College?

This was the only question that rang in all of their minds.

Liza: Yeah, me, Shree and Riya, we were in the same college. While I wasn’t very friendly with her, she was Shree’s best friend or may I say she is his best friend. They are childhood buddies, practically twins from different mothers.

The girls nodded their heads understandingly.

Aayesha: This answers his outburst at Sikandar’s place.

Sheetal: Yeah. And I would make a guess she is also very close friend of Chotu. He too seemed as if he got the biggest surprise, he could ever ask for.

Again, they all nodded their heads.

Sakshi: Still, Sameer and Arjun too seemed very close to her.

And at this they were all confused. Who was this girl again? An ex- research specialist. Was she this special?

Sameer wanted to talk to Riya. He was just leaving for her place when his phone rang. It was D.I.G. sir. He had asked him to come to the headquarters. Just when he was about to take lock his door, he found Shree and Chotu coming towards him.

Sameer: What happened? You guys here?

Shree and Chotu looked at each other before Shree started.

Shree: Sir, we still don’t know how is Riya still alive. We were going towards her house; thought we could also ask you. But looks like you are leaving somewhere.

Sameer: Yes. D.I.G. sir has called me. But I would suggest you to come with me to D.I.G. sir. We can ask him about it. I am going there. Moreover, Riya might be resting the night wasn’t easy for anyone.

Both of them nodded their heads as they left for the headquarters with Sameer.

The trio bond 😒Shree Chotu avoiding Riya not happening... The whole situation might nlbe new to the gals but not for them.

ETF will be a ground of turmoil now. Atleast Arjun is besides Riya that is a relief
