Chapter 9

Silence. This was the only thing present in the room.

Shree and Chotu along with Sameer had gone to meet D.I.G. sir and ask him regarding Riya but there they also saw DCP sir sitting along with him. And now they were in a thought, if it was okay to ask all of this in front of him? They knew that DCP sir was pretty close to Arjun but this matter concerned Riya more and above all, they hadn’t seen DCP sir being a part of the mission. And now they weren’t sure what they should do. But what they didn’t know was that DCP was not just close to Arjun but also to Riya. It’s not like he wasn’t a part of the mission, just that he was the one keeping an eye on Riya and also, he was the one through whom Riya shared all those information.

DCP saw the restraining looks on their face and hence took the matter in his own hands.

DCP: Ask questions. You won’t get an answer without asking for it, without looking out for it.

Shree and Chotu were shocked, a little embarrassed too. Sameer then took the lead.

Sameer: Sir, we all had seen Riya dying in front of us. We cremated her ourselves. But she was alive all along. I am very happy to have her back. But the Question is how? How sir?

D.I.G. and DCP shared a look before telling them how they got to know about Riya after almost three weeks of her cremation. And that how they caught the human trafficking racket. They told them about her treatment and also that the virus is still there in her body.

DCP: Officers, we know that not telling you about her existence was wrong. But that was the only way. Riya has shown incredible presence of mind, potential, skills and power during the mission. It wasn’t even planned all along. Just that once she heard us talking about the lead in Sikandar’s case and she was adamant to go for it. In spite of being in such heavy and painful medications, she wanted to it. And she did. With those heavy doses of pills and drugs, injections, and I.V. two times a week, she still did her training. And today you have your results. She was trained under both of us.

Knowing that Riya wasn’t well yet she did this, Sameer, Chotu and Shree were tensed, concerned and angry.

Sameer: Sir, if she wasn’t well. If she was this unwell, how could you allow her to go there that too on her own? What if she didn’t get out of that place?

DCP: First thing Sameer, that would never happen. I wouldn’t let that happen. In all this period that I have personally known Riya, she has been no less than Sheen for me. She is just like a daughter not just to me but to D.I.G. Coelho too. Second, Riya was highly trained before all of that. And the most important thing, she wanted this. I wouldn’t have allowed her, if I wouldn’t had seen her eagerness for this. She said if she didn’t go for this mission, this second life which she had got was useless, worthless and she would have better died in that attack or in the human trafficking case. She was vulnerable, going into a dark valley of aloofness and depression. She needed something to keep her afloat and this was the thing she needed. I knew she needed this.

Looking at the confused and horrified expression of the three of them, DCP understood their thinking.

DCP: She isn’t same anymore Rathod. She’s changed. She is fighting depression, anxiety and her own body along with the outer world problems. All alone. She has learnt too much in a short time. And you will see that soon.

Looking at the serious expression of the young officers in front of him DCP tried to make the situation a bit lighter.

DCP: But don’t worry. She is still the same clean freak.

And all of them chuckled.

Just then Shree’s and Chotu’s eyes widened in realization.

Their clean freak friend, where was she living? Her apartment wasn’t available anymore now. And then there was a lot of luggage with her. They felt sick of themselves, how could they just forget it. And now, they had no idea where would she be.

Shree: Sir, we don’t know where Riya would be living now. I mean, her apartment isn’t available anymore. And I don’t even have her phone no. to trace. Do you know anything?

D.I.G.: Shree, I thought you and Chotu were her best friends. She must be living with you.

And both of them looked down embarrassed.

DCP: Don’t worry, she wears a locket. It has tracker. I will just see.

He took out a tab from his bag while the other’s surrounded him. Soon enough her location was shown. While the three of them were confused, DCP and D.I.G. exchanged knowing glances.

Shree: Sir, this is a residential area. How did she manage an apartment this soon?

DCP: This isn’t her apartment Shree. It’s Arjun’s.

Both Arjun and Riya after having their food, retired to their rooms. While both of them were tired and needed to sleep, none of them could. For Arjun, his insomnia was like an old enemy, he couldn't escape even if he wanted to, whereas Riya too was suffering. After tossing and turning in bed for half an hour, Arjun came out of his room to check on Riya only to find her sitting on the bed while doing something in a file. From the looks of it, it seemed to be a case file. Arjun shaked his head knowing she too wasn’t able to sleep yet and hence was tiring herself to the extreme left so that she could at least pass out of exhaustion. It pained him to her like that, with those sleepy eyes yet sleepless nights. He entered inside and as soon as he did, Riya’s eyes darted towards him in shock but again relaxed.

Arjun: Can’t sleep.

It wasn’t clear if he was asking or stating. Maybe both. Afterall both of them were in the same pain. Riya lightly shook her head with a light smile while Arjun just kept looking at her for a few minutes. Suddenly, he came over her taking the file out of her hands and made her lay down on the bed while he soon joined her pulling her into himself and hugging her tightly. Riya was too shocked to react. This day was full of shocks and surprises.

Riya: Sir- she softly said in a trembling voice as she tried to control her erratic heartbeat. This man made her feel all the emotions in the world at the same time. She took a sharp breath as she felt him pulling her closer and snuggling his face in the crook of her neck. And she knew she lost once again. She had fallen for him allover again. Fast and deep.

Arjun: shh. Sleep Riya. We will talk. Later.

And just like that as if she was a magic and his touch a magic spell, both of them slept peacefully after a long, long time. They knew there was something between them, and they soon needed to talk about it. Clear out things. But for now, having each other close was the only thing that mattered.

The girls were still present at Sakshi’s place they had gone out for a bit and then again, they were back home, to the living room, still lost in that one thought. Riya Mukherjee.

Today none of them were in a mood to cook, and so they preferred take outs. After having their dinner, all of them were sitting lost in their thoughts or may we say in her thoughts.

After a few minutes of silence, Liza spoke up,

Liza: Well guys, we still don’t know how did she even faked her death. I mean how did she show them that she was dead that too in front of all the officers. How come they didn’t realize that she was alive. I mean they said right, it happened in front of their eyes.

Sheetal: Exactly my point. And moreover, how come they weren’t angry? I mean for god’s sake she faked her death. And they were behaving as if she died in reality and then again came back to life.

As Ex-zora virus wasn’t meant for the people to know about. Riya’s case was also kept in secret. She was even cremated and awarded in secrecy after her supposed death.

Sakshi: Guys, even if she had faked her death, there must be a file about it. We can check the ETF files. There must be everything mentioned in it.

Sheetal: And how are you going to access the record room files?

Sakshi: Well, I have a friend who writes her reviews on the crime reports that are mentioned in the city. And now it’s her wedding in two days, so I will be the one filling those columns. I can then search about her. You guys can also help me. She said with a bright smile while looking at the rest. While the others were a little apprehensive of doing this, Aayesha was in a complete denial.

Aayesha: I don’t think it’s right. I mean it might land us in trouble guys. Never ever have Rathod sir or Arjun sir said a word about her or the case, not even Shree or Chotu did. I am guessing this is something between them. We must not pry on it more.

Listening to her the rest nodded, though they wanted to know but they didn’t want to get into trouble too. Soon, they started talking about different things, but still at a corner of their minds they were thinking of HER.

Well, the girls don’t know what really had happened during the case with Riya. So, they think of her to be a liar. Though she did it for a mission, they still aren’t comfortable with the fact that the ETF men didn’t say anything to her and welcomed her back with open arms.

Till now I asked you if my pace was slow? But now I am asking you, is my pace fast? 😂😂😂

Okay the girls are like she's an enemy. Last update they were apprehensive but here to they already declared the girl as liar. Like can't they trust the men? They are crossing line.

Well, fortunately, @Haal-e-Dil, I also agree with each of your words in this matter. These three ladies are definitely crossing the line by not trusting the ETF men and indirectly they are even doubting the decision of the DIG & DCP, who are way more experienced and efficient than they themselves.

Along with that, I want to add here more that, being the chief of ETF, Rathore must do the honour at first to let his other three female teammates know about Riya & her value in the lives of the 4 men of ETF. Then gradually Shree & Chotu can share their pov too. But, I know for sure, Arjun would not want to explain or speak anything about Riya, and that too in front of his teammates.
