Chapter 14

Riya fell on the ground on her hands and heard the door behind shut with a thud. She shakes her head to clear the dizziness suddenly coming to her. she tries to reach the blindfold with her hands and untie it but she is unable to do so. Suddenly, she hears a scraping sound coming beside her.

Ri: who is there?

No sound.

Ri: I asked who is there?

She jerks when she feels a pair of hands try to untie her blindfold. The guy said " hey calm down, I am not going to hurt you. but you won't be able to see me if I don't untie this blindfold."

Riya sits still as he unties the blindfold. When the blindfold comes off, she blinks rapidly trying to clear her vision. Her vision slowly clears to see a guys bending at her level. His shirt is dirty and torn and from what she could make a conclusion about from the marks shown was that he was tortured. He unties the ropes from her hands and she rubs them making the circulation start in her numbed hands. Although she could clearly see that he is in pain inspite of that he made an effort to smile and said "hi, I am rahul. Naam toh suna hoga."

Rahul sees a reluctant smile appear at the girl's lips. When she had been thrown in front of him today, he had felt a rush of anger and shock at seeing her in front of him. the last time, he had seen her was in a more better surroundings. As he wonders about her name, she said "hi, I am riya."

Rah: well riya, it seems like we finally meet again.

Ri: I am sorry. Do I know you?

Rah: wow, such a dialogue should be used by boys on girls. But no problem. I think you remember anoushka.

Ri: anoushka. Anoushka shergill?

Rah: exactly. Remember her engagement?

Ri: oh. Oh... anand's friend. Right?

Rah: right? now I had hoped we would meet again under better circumstances but since that is not possible now, I have to ask the question. what trouble are you in with these guys?

But before riya could answer, the door opened revealing shyam, siddharth and a man wearing a coloured shirt and whose hair was curled at the end.

Sid: well, it seems we will be staying here for a while. Glad to see that you made each acquantiances.

Arnav, khushi, Arjun, karan, simran and aisha were back in the hotel room where they had planned everything. Liza was checking anjali to see what has she been injected with.

Arn: When riya had joined AR she had joined with a purpose. To have a career and yet ensure her identity protected. No one would suspect a PR person being a crime journalist and the advantage of working PR was that riya had the freedom to go anywhere she wanted to go without anyone saying anything. For 3 years this went on. But one year before, riya had enough of this double life and she quit journalism to become a full time PR for us.

Arj: what changed?

Khu: shyamji.

They all looked at her. arnav came and put his hand around her providing silent support.

Khu: shyamji was di's husband. But because of his obsession with me and with money, he dropped to such levels which we could'nt even think of. Later on shyam was arrested but what came after his arrest shocked us even more. While gathering evidence against shyam, we found out that he was'nt only using our money but he was also involved in something more.

Ais: so shyam is behind her because...?

Arn: because riya set up a trap, a trap which we had thought had failed but in fact might have succeeded.

Khu: what? What trap? And why did'nt you tell me before?

Arn: because we knew that if you had known about this, then you would'nt have allowed it. and riya wanted this trap to succeed

Arj: what was the trap?

Arn: riya used one of her informers to spread the word that she was on the search of a man named siddharth which we had found out from our investigation had worked with shyam. But when no news came we thought that the bait had failed. But just one week before riya called me and told me that she found something which made her realize that siddharth had been connected to her before also, but how, she did'nt say?

Sim: what has siddharth had to do with what happened with riya 8 years back.

Shr: that question can be answered by me.

Shree and chotu came with riya's laptop. They put it on the table, turned to face towards the others and played the video. Seeing the video, arjun, arnav and karan's hands curled into a fist and their eyes became red with anger, khushi clasped her mouth to stop her scream, simran gripped the sofa tightly while aisha became still as stone.

Sh: riya was after siddharth because she survived his bullet to her head 8 years ago. Siddharth tried to kill riya 8 years ago.

Chapter 15

Unable to keep still, riya paced from one side to another. Rahul sits his hands on his knees as he watches riya's pacing. He said "you know its best to sit instead of pacing around. My head is getting really dizzy with your pacing."

Ri: I can't not pace. I have to keep moving otherwise I will go mad with worry.

Rah: riya, they get off on you being tensed. The higher the tensed you are, the greater is their enjoyment. Its best to show yourself as a calm person.

Riya looks at rahul for a minute and sits down beside him.

Rah; that's good. Now tell me about what your life? What has happened since we last met?

Ri: I don't even remember when we last met.

Rah: 1 year, 4 months, 16 days.

Ri: okay, wow. How come you remember me so well?

Rah: you left quite an impression on everyone at that party.

Ri: oh that!. yeah, well I did'nt mean to react like that but that guy was such a douchebag always making inappropriate comments and thinking that he was stronger.

Rah: yeah, I could see who was stronger with the way the guy was clutching himself and his face when they carrier him out.

Both laughed remembering how that guy was trying to clutch his hmmm part and his bruised and swollen face.

Ri: but why are you here?

Rah: well I am a software engineer and I also repair software. As a favour to my uncle I had gone to repair one of his client's software but in that process I discovered the records of their smuggling. So now here I am.

Ri: you know you are awfully calm for a person who is kidnapped and can be killed.

Rah: that's because I would have been killed much earlier if it was'nt for one person. my brother major rajvir. Now, I think the builder is just getting a thrill out of this game and I am a part of this thrill. That's my story. Now what about you? why did they kidnap you?

Ri: I don't know. but I have a pretty good idea.

Before rahul could ask riya to elaborate, the door opened and two guys walked in. they stood in front of both of them and told to rahul "come, its time for you to go."

Rah: go? go where?

One man: back to your family. They have paid the ransom.

They hauled rahul to his feet and dragged him out of the room.

Ri: rahul, be careful.

Rahul turned to look at riya and from his glance riya knew what rahul expected. The door closed, plunging the room into darkness.

In the hotel room,

Arjun is standing in the balcony looking at the traffic below him. life is still going on as if nothing has happened to halt it. yet, he knew how many times his life has changed by mere incidences. Incidences which led to where he is today. Taking out his hand, he looks at the piece of bangle. The bangle is silver in colour with patches of rust showing up but still looking at it arjun could remember that night.

Flashback

20 yr old arjun is looking impatiently at his watch waiting for his friend sameer to arrive. Sameer comes on his bike and parks near arjun.

Arj: what the hell sameer? Again late?

Sam: sorry yaar, there was traffic on the road.

Arj: traffic or a girl?

Sam: arjun, don't go making assumptions.

Arj: oh, so I am making assumptions. Well, okay so it is an assumption that here is a lipstick mark on your cheek. Right?

Sameer hurriedly wipes his hand over his cheek and arjun laughs.

Arj: caught you.

Sam: okay, okay so it was a girl. Now forget about this. lets go. the results for the ips exam will have been already put up.

And both of them go. after checking the results, they hi-fived each other happy that they could train together in the same police academy. As they are walking back, arjun sees some guys peeping through people's cars.

Arj: hey, what are you doing?

All of those guys run away. Sameer and arjun talked for sometime and after agreeing to meet at their usual haunt, arjun got into his car and drove away. He keeps driving and stops at the roadside. Turning around, he removes the blanket covering.

Arj: okay, who are you and how did you get into my car?

The person slowly raises her head up and arjun sees a face with big dark eyes, a dupatta covering her head and her hands holding a bundle.

Flashback ends

Arj (in his thoughts): I never forgot you riya. I promise I will find you and siddharth will pay.

Shr: sir.

Arjun turns and shree said "riya's location is traced.". a predator smile spread on his lips while his eyes gleam which could make the most bravest person shiver.

Chapter 16

Riya walks around the room unable to sit still. She has checked every nook and corner of the room but there is no escape. Suddenly, the door opens and riya turns startled. A guy enters carrying a food tray and bangs it on the table. He said "eat." Riya shook her head. The guy pulled his shirt up and showed his gun. Riya sat quietly at the table and began to eat. After finishing, the guy took the tray and just looked at her. within a few seconds riya felt darkness surround her.

Her eyes slowly opened and she blinked adjusting to the light surrounding her. her vision slowly cleared revealing people in the room with her. as her vision clears, she gasps seeing the person in front of her.

Ri: dr singh. You are alive?

Sin: hello riya. How are you?

Riya tried to get up but found herself chained to the chair. She then looks at dr singh confusion clear in her eyes.

Ri: what the hell is going on doc? And you are the one who kidnapped me?

Sin: yes, unfortunately I am the one who ordered your kidnapping. But dear, you had left me no choice.

Ri: what do you mean by that? you died 2 yrs back. Why would you fake your own death doctor?

Sin: hmm, riya what can I tell you? you were always such an interesting person. when I treated you in the hospital, you were so vulnerable that you appealed to my instincts. And when you came to me regarding what happened. I was delighted. I mean I finally found someone whom I could experiment on.

Ri: wait, what do you mean experiment on? Do you mean what I am today it is because of you?

Sin: oh no, that is all because of that bullet. But you see, you were my inspiration, my light at my darkest time. I could'nt let you go that easily.

Ri: are you mad?

Sin: oh no. I am in love. With you. with your beauty, with your innocence and (he went near her ear and whispered) with your power.

Riya stiffens listening to what he said.

Ri: you gave that injection to siddharth?

Sin: yes, but don't worry there is nothing harmful in it. just a tiny bomb which has situated itself in the stem of her brain.

Ri: what? How can I believe you?

A voice said "you have no other choice but to believe." Siddharth came into riya's view. Riya tried to get up from the chair.

Ri: you b*****d

Sid: uhuh no, madam. No bad words. After all you are a mother. And a mother has to teach her children good words not bad words.

Ri: what do you want from me?

Sid: well, since you asked me so nicely, I want to give you the answer. But I have got a better idea. Instead of giving you the answer, why don't I show you.

He signaled the guys who opened riya's chains and caught her by the hand. he went first, dr singh following next and at last the two guys pulling riya with them. they entered a room and riya gasped seeing a person bloodied tied to the chair. His eyes were closed, and his fingers were missing. Riya already knew that he was dead.

Sid: well you see we have a problem. we were trying to get information from this guy but he died before he could give us that information. We want you to retrieve that information.

Ri: I can't do that.

Siddharth looked at dr singh. Dr singh said "come on riya, you can do this."

Ri: no, I can't. we tried this before and it did'nt work.

Dr: riya, you have to just touch his hand. and it will work. I am positive.

Sid: think about it riya. If you don't do this, then your dear daughter will die.

Riya started walking slowly to that guy. She kneeled in front of him and swallowing her nausea took his hand. she closed her eyes. everyone is silent in the room. minutes pass by. Siddharth starts to get impatient but dr singh shushes him. shyam enters the room and stands quietly. Riya slowly opens her eyes and places the hand back her own hand shaking.

Sin: what did you see, riya?

Riya opens her mouth but the next second a blast vibrates across the room pushing everyone down. Riya sprangs up immediately and rushes to the entrance. Siddharth grabs her by waist and tosses her to a goon. The goon tries to close her mouth but riya resists and she shouts "ARJUN."

Arjun heard riya's voice and went ahead with aisha covering him. they reach the corridor and the shooting starts. aisha shouted to arjun "arjun sir, go there is another way to go around the room. we can handle them." arjun hesitates but seeing karan nod his head, he ran off in a different direction. going by the back stairs he reaches the terrace. There he sees shyam dragging riya with dr singh to the helicopter. He did'nt give any sign when he heard arnav say "shyam is mine."

Arj: he should be caught alive.

Arn: we will see about that.

Arj: SHYAM.

Shyam turns and pulls riya in front of him positioning her like a shield. Arjun and arnav raise their guns and arnav said "let riya go shyam. She has nothing to do with this."

Shy: wrong saale sahib. She has everything to do with this. he has been waiting for her for a long time. When I take her back, I will be awarded. And who knows I might be the one to get my first turn with her. she does have a curveous body.

Ri: you are disgusting. Leave me.

Shy: no my dear. I can't leave you. and even if I leave you, you can't go. if you go, then your daughter's head will explode.

Arj: too late for that shyam. As we speak surgery is being performed on anjali to remove that bomb.

Shy: impossible. That bomb can't be removed.

Arn: it has and it is already removed shyam. You are too late.

Shy: enough chit chatting. Let's go.

Arjun and Arnav: NO

But shyam dragged riya to the helicopter and went inside first pulling her in next. He closed the door and the helicopter is going up hovering over the building. The door suddenly opens and riya leans out of the door. She struggles with shyam and pushing him inside jumps out of the helicopter.
