Chapter 19

Arjun stood up his hands balled into fists and simply said "get out."

Riya folded her legs and said calmly "relax arjun. I am not asking you to spend your life with me. I just want this marriage to gain permanent guardianship of anjali."

Arjun just looked at her. riya signed heavily and said "fine I will tell you everything."

Ri: 8 years ago, I woke up in the hospital with zero memory and I tried to find out from where I am from but could'nt. After 6 months of searching I was depressed and tired and was contemplating to commit suicide. I almost did. But ravi saved my life. He and his wife helped me to continue living my life. I was interested in becoming a model but was not satisfied only becoming that. so I completed my studies along with my modeling and did masters in public relations and a diploma in crime journalism. Along these years with modeling I did investigative journalism until about 3 and half years ago. That was the time I got into public relations permanently at AR. AR had sent me to handle the PR of their London branch which I had been doing until 8 months ago. That was the time when I got a call saying that ravi and his wife ananya were dead due to a car accident. But it was'nt until I reached delhi and investigated that I found suspicious circumstances surrounding their death. The police reports said that the truck driver reported that ravi was drunk. But ravi never drank. He was against alcoholism. Another thing which I found wrong was the tire tracks. The tire tracks should be of a car continuously driving along the road and then falling off a cliff but there was a side road near that accident which clearly showed signs of someone being present.

Arj: if you are so convinced that it was a murder then why did'nt you report it to the police?

Ri: I almost did. but lets just say I had some suspicions regarding the police office and I found it to be true.

Arj: explain.

Ri: he had a secret account stashed under his wife's name in which a deposit of 40,000 was made about a day after the accident.

Arj: are you suspicious about anyone?

Ri: yeah, her grandfather from her father's side. He was always against ravi and ananya's marriage because both belonged to different castes. That is why I don't want him to have the custody of anjali.

Arj: and where does our so called marriage fit within the situation?

Ri: ravi and ananya had left me anjali's custody in their will. But her grandfather is contesting that will stating that I am an inappropriate guardian due to my occupation and my single status. Unfortunately the judge has 3 qualities which can decide the case against me: he is old fashioned, is completely against women models and is a friend of her grandfather. So I don't trust the court proceedings at all when there is every chance of being tampered from his side. And there is also another reason.

Arj: what is that?

Ri: he hired your friend sameer rathore to do a check on me and I am absolutely sure he was part of the plan to kidnap me.

Arjun is stunned.

Ri: now here is my deal. I want you to marry me and let me and anjali become your family for one year. And in exchange I will give you all access to the resources you require in order to find sikander.

Arj: what resources are you talking about?

Ri: oh right. Sorry, I forgot to mention. I am the media liaison for the ETF team.
