CHAPTER - 5

At night,all the while,Akash could not sleep,thinking about Ananya only.Inside his heart,he was feeling very guilty for lying to her.He kept changing his positions again and again but could not sleep properly due to the burden of his guilt.He woke up on his bed in the middle of the night and said,"Ye maine thik nehi kiya Ananya ke saath.Pyar ka pehla rule sach bolna hota hai and I lied to my first love.Thats not fair at all."He again consoled himself and said,"Main usse pyar karta hu tabhi to maine usse jhut bola hai.Main ameer hu kahi ye baat jaankar vo mujhse baat na karna chahe to?Nehi...main ye risk nehi le sakta."Akash felt that he could not take that risk of loosing her as it would take his life away from him.Suddenly,the air inside his bedroom started to become very heavy for him and he started feeling very suffocated.He got up from his bed and walked downstairs upto the lawn outside.With tip-toe movements,he came down the stairs and walked towards the door,since Sulekha's bedroom was beside the stairs.He came into the lawn and felt the fresh air and started walking.He was walking and walking since the suffocation of his guilt was not giving him relief.He sat on the bench quietly stared at the sky.Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder.He turned there with a jerk and found Sulekha standing there.Akash stood up from the bench and surprisingly asked,"Arey daadi aap??Itni raat tak aap jag rahi hai?"Sulekha came and sat beside him and said,"Arey nehi re main paani peene ke liye uthi thi to maine dekha ke darwaaza khula hai aur isliye bahaar aa gayi.Vaise tu yaha itni raat ko kya kar raha hai?"Akash replied,"Vo daadi mujhe na neend nehi aa rahi hai to isliye main yaha bahaar aakar betha tha."Sulekha rubbed his head and asked,"Par neend kyu nehi aa rahi hai?"He made a sad face and replied,"Vo daadi mujhse na ek galti ho gayi hai."She asked,"Kaisi galti?"Akash told her how he lied to Ananya about he being an employee at his own office.He said,"Main jaanta hu daadi ke jhut bolna achchi baat nehi aur khaaskar unse jinse hum pyar karte hai.Par daadi,agar kahi usko pata chal gaya ke main rich hu aur jo uske dukaan se cheeze kharidkar gaye hai,vo mere aadmi the to vo agar mujhse baat na karna chahe to?Isiliye main..."Sulekha replied,"Par jab usko sach pata chalega tab to usko aur bhi zyaada bura lagega na.Tune ye kabhi socha hai aur soch agar usko ye baat kisi bahaarwaale se pata chale to?"He said,"Main jaanta hu daadi,par main usko khona nehi chahta hu..."She said,"To usko sach bolde.Kisi aur se pata chale usse pehle tu khud hi usko bol de."She continued,"Dekh beta,hum kisiko khudse pyar karne se na to rok sakte hai aur naahi zabardasti kar sakte hai,isliye sach bolde,kyuki sach ko yaad nehi rakhna parta par tu aaj agar ek jhut bolega to uske vajah se tujhe aur 100 jhut bolne parenge."He nodded his head and she said,"Ab ja jaakar soja aur jitna jaldi ho sake usko bol dena."Saying Sulekha left from there.Akash said to himself,"Par usse pehle mujhe usse dosti to karni paregi na.Pehle dosti ho jaaye phir usko main sab kuch sach sach bata dunga apne baare mein.Main usko kisi bhi keemat par khona nehi chahta,baad mein jo hoga dekha jaayega,par main abhi usko sach hargiz nehi bataaunga."He thought that to be the better option and planned to find in which orphanage Ananya lived.

Before making friendship with Ananya,he planned to befriend with Roshni and decided to know more about her.He thought to talk with their employer and make at least her go to school.One day,Akash instead of going to office,went to the mall to meet Roshni.On seeing him,Roshni was very happy and surprised and asked,"Arey sir aap?"Akash said,"Mujhe sir mat bulaana please aur ye lo tumhaare liye."Hegave her some chocolates.On seeing the chocolates she was very happy and she too thanked her and asked,"Sir nehi bulaaungi to main aapko kya bulaau?"He thought and replied,"Mujhe mere naam se bulaao.Mera naam Akash hai."She bit her lips and said,"Main aapko naam se kaise bula sakti hu,aap to mujhse bare hai na."He replied,"Its very simple!Tum mujhe uh...Akash bhaiya bulaao."She thought for a few seconds and said,"Ok thik hai.Ye thik rahega."He looked here and there and asked,"Tumhaari didi kaha hai?"She replied,"Didi hum dono ka lunch laane gayi hai.Abhi aa jaayegi aur dukaan mein to sethji bhi nehi hai isliye main bethi hu."Akash nodded his head.He asked,"Achcha ek baat batao ye jo tumhaari didi hai inko kya kya achcha lagta hai aur kya kya nehi achcha lagta?"Roshni replied,"Ananya didi ko na vohi log achche lagte hai jo sach bolte hai,unhe jhut bolne waale bilkul bhi pasand nehi hai."On hearing this,Akash swallowed the lump formed inside his throat.That one big news was no doubt a big blow for him since he too was lying to her.He,in a trembling tone asked,"Kya tumhaari didi unse bohot nafrat karti hai?"Roshni replied,"Ha bohot gussa ho jaati hai."Akash,said in his mind,"Akash beta,ab tu kya karega?Ye Ananya to jhut bolne waalo ko pasand hi nehi karti hai.To jab usko pata chalega ke maine usko apne baare mein jhut bola hai tab to vo mujhse bhi kabhi baat nehi karegi.Ab main kya karu?"Roshni shook his hands and brought him back to the earth and asked,"Arey Akash bhaiya,kaha kho gaye?"He replied,"Ka...ka-ka-kahi nehi Roshni aur didi ko kya achcha lagta hai,matlab kaunsa colour,kaunsa khaana..."She replied,"Vaise to unhe..."Suddenly she squeezed her brows and in a curious voice asked,"Vaise aap didi ke baare mein itna sab kyu puch rahe hai?"Akash stood straight and started itching on her head behaving to be completely lost at that point without any answer.She gave a smile to her and said,"Aap didi ko pasand karte hai?"He gave a foolish smile and blushed by lowering his head.Roshni laughed and replied,"Wow!!Aapke gaalo mein to kitni sundar dimples aati hai!!"He held her hand and said,"Ya you are right!!Mujhe tumhaari didi bohot pasand hai.Par vo kya hai na main usse baat kaise karu yehi samajhme nehi aa raha hai.Tum please meri kuch madat kardo na."Roshni thought for sometime and then said,"Mmm...didi ko na white lilies bohot pasand hai aur rabri bhi."His eyes glowed with happiness and he said,"Really???Ok!!Main abhi aaya."Saying he left from there.

Roshni was a bit confused with the way,he suddenly left,so she came out of her shop and stood at the balcony.After sometime,she found Akash coming running towards her with a bunch of flowers.He gave that bunch to her and said,"Ye lo,ye phool na tum apni didi ko de dena."She asked,"Aap khud kyu nehi dete?"He replied,"Agar main dunga to shaayad usko achcha na bhi lage to isliye..."Suddenly at that moment,her eyes fall on Ananya,who was coming inside the mall.On seeing her,Roshni said,"Arey dekhiye Ananya didi bhi aa gayi."On hearing that,Akash exclaimed,"Kya???Ananya idhar aa rahi hai??Oh God!!Main chalta hu,kahi agar tumhaari didi ne mujhe yaha dekh liya to vo to pata nehi mere baare mein kya sochegi ke main yaha har roz aata rehta hu."He turned back to run but at the next moment,he said to Roshni,"Please tum ye phool unko de dena,yaad se ha!!"She nodded her head and Akash immediately left from there.When Ananya reached to Roshni,on seeing the bunch of flowers,she asked,"Lilies???Ye kisne diye hai?"Roshni gave them to Ananya and replied,"Ye vo Akash bhaiya ne diye hai."Ananya squeezed her brows and asked,"Akash???"Roshni replied,"Arey didi vo jo hamaare dukaan se kitne saare guitars lekar gaye the na vo."She remembered about Akash and said,"Vaise ye Akash tere bhaiya kab se ban gaye?"Roshni replied,"Unhone hi mujhse kaha ke main unko sir na bulaau,balki bhaiya bulaau to maine bhi bula liya."Ananya thought suddenly why would Akash give flowers to her,but she brushed away those thoughts and said,"Achcha chal chalkar kuch khaale pehle phir tu bethna aur main khaana khaaungi."Roshni nodded her head and then both went inside.

Next day,Akash again visited the mall,to meet Ananya.On seeing him again,Ananya,with a smile said,"Iam sorry sir aapka flute to abhitak nehi aaya hai."He gave a glance to the shop and said,"Koi baat nehi.Vaise main to aaj yaha aapse milne ke liye aaya hu aur maine Roshni se bhi kaha hai ke vo mujhe sir na bulaye aur aap bhi please mujhe sir mat bulaana.Mera naam Akash hai aap mujhe Akash hi bulaaiye."Ananya awkwardly smiled and replied,"Nehi sir,aap hamaare customer hai aur customers ko naam se bulaana,rule ke khilaaf hai.Vaise kya main aapse ek baat puch sakti hu?"He asked,"Kya?"She asked,"Aap kal achaanak flowers kyu laaye the?"He suddenly became very conscious and asked,"Kyu aapko achche nehi lage?"She took a deep breath and in a bit straight manner replied,"Dekhiye sir pehli baat,mujhe anjaan logo se gift lena bilkul bhi achcha nehi lagta aur dusri baat,main yaha kaam karne aati hu,agar hamaare sethji ko pata chal gaya to unko bhi achcha nehi lagega aur shaayad vo mujhe naukri se bhi nikaal denge,to..."Akash felt very bad and replied,"Iam sorry Ananyaji,agar aapko bura laga ho to.Par yakeen maaniye,maine kuch bhi jaan bujh kar nehi kiya hai..."She said,"Mujhe nehi pata ke aapne kis intention se kya kiya hai.Par sir agli baar se aap aisa kuch bhi mat kijiyega,kyuki ye naukri mere liye bohot zaruri hai aur main isko apni kisi bhi galti ke liye khona nehi chahti.By the way sir abhi mujhe bohot kaam hai aur customers bhi aana shuru kar denge to..."She politely signalled Akash to leave from there.One thing he understood that by giving her favourate things as gift or helping her by allotting customers most probably would not help him to reach her heart,but the way she treated her was definitely very painful for him.He smiled awkwardly at Ananya and Roshni and then gave her a book and said,"Ye main aapke liye laaya tha,isme...duniya ke har kisam ke naye aur puraane musical instruments ke baare mein information hai.Aap isko par lengi to shaayad aapko thori bohot madat bhi mil jaayegi."He put the book on the table and said to Roshni,"Bye Roshni."He gave a sad look to Ananya and left.Roshni angrily said to Ananya,"Didi ye aapne bilkul bhi thik nehi kiya,bichaare pata hai vo aapke liye pata nehi kaha se dher saare lilies uthaakar le aaye the aur abhi aapki help ke liye book bhi lekar aaye.Aapko unse aise baat nehi karni chahiye thi."Ananya too a bit disturbingly said,"To tu kya chahti hai ke main aise hi kisi bhi anjaan aadmi se gift lelu??Main maanti hu hamaare dukaan se itne saare guitars kharidkar unhone hamaare upar bohot bara ehsaan kiya hai par iska matlab ye to nehi ke main unka gift bhi lelu?Kaun kis iraade se kya karta hai kya pata?"Roshni said,"Par didi Akash bhaiya bohot achche hai."Ananya put her hand on Roshni's shoulder and replied,"Dekh Roshni,har insaan ek jaisa nehi hota hai.Kiske dil mein kya hai ye koi nehi bata sakta hai,to bas tujhe aise logo se hshiyaar rehna chahiye,yaad hai na Arti ma bhi to yehi kehti thi aur dekh hamaara is duniya mein Aarti ma aur ek dusre ke alava koi nehi hai aur tujhe pata hai na kaise kuch gande log bhole bhaale insaano ka faayda uthaate hai,ab kisike chehre mein ye to nehi likha hota ke vo achcha hai ya bura isliye hume hamesha chaukanna rehna parta hai taaki koi hamaara galat faayda na uthaaye.Vaise bhi agar sethji ko ye sab pata chal gaya to tujhe pata hai na kitne gussewaale hai vo.Kahi agar unhone hume job se nnikaal diya to hum unke paise kaise chukaayenge aur agar paise nehi diye to vo hamaare aashram ke khilaaf complain kar denge.Tu chahti hai aisa ho?"Roshni nodded her head.Ananya said,"To ab chupchap apne kaam mein dhyaan de,abhi customers aate hi honge."While they were talking,some cutomers arrived and they started attending them.
