Well I am glad I don't watch Chotti Bahu, two shows like this and I'd have to check myself into see a shrink! Goodness, what a morbid fascination some Indian people have with the concept of sacrifce for your family. Helping your family is one thing, but sacrficing your own happiness? That's insane, more so when you're doing it for people who don't even respect or like you.
Im not defending Simi or KB Creatives but in real life also there are many people who sacrifice their own happiness for ppl they love. Simi loves her family, her parents, their happiness is more important to her than anything else. Shes known Abhi for only a few months, shes had her family for 30 yrs, where else would her loyalties lie?
I'd like to say one thing; in the real world, when you want people who are unjust to change, you don't go out of your way and be nice to them. They take you for a moron and gulliable individual and continue to take further advantage of you. Behavior of this kind only changes when you hold them accountable and set boundaries. You don't have to be ugly about it either.
The world is composed of suckers/victims and exploiters/selfish people. Simi is a sucker!I too liked Simi a lot. A lot in fact and really felt for her in the RB incident. However, since the arrival of Nukul I actually cannot stand her character. The writers have fallen for the typical rona dona, sacrifical heroine. What next? Is she going to throw herself on a funeral pyre for Anuj and/or Nukul and expect Abhi to throw himself on one for her? That's how it is looking like to me.Simi's not a hot babe that we can believe Abhi getting besotted by her - she's frump girl. The whole storyline has one big gapping hole with a totally unbelieveable rationale as to why he likes her.
People dont love each other only because of good looks or hotness! Thats superficial love or lust. Abhi was attracted to her simple nature and innocence when he saw her first praying at the temple. Maybe he just liked her because shes not like the other flighty, shallow girls of his generation! A guy like Abhi can fall in love with a "frumpy" girl if she has qualities hes attracted to!
I agree with your point though that Simbhi chemistry isnt working out. Their so called love is completely one-sided with Abhi chasing her and Simi exploiting him.
But Im sure the Creatives are doing that to appease the old-fashioned viewers who cant accept the relationship of a much older woman with a younger guy. They are shying away from showing a really hot, sizzling romance between the two! After all what would the tradition-bound, disapproving viewers say? How would they react to such a "taboo" relationship?
