Superstitions in India are considered to be a widespread social problem.

How many times a day do you either cross your fingers, knock on wood, or worry that good luck will turn on you? When two bad things happen to you, do you cringe in fear of an inevitable third unfortunate event? Even those of us who 'know better' are readily prone to these type of superstitious thinking.

For some people, superstitions can actually take over their lives.
After all this modernization and enlightenment that has taken place, superstitious beliefs still persists in our societies. Every one of us to some extent believes in such absurd superstitious beliefs!

Here are some of the most popular celebrities of our Telly world who talk about that 1 social superstition which they would want to eradicate from the society.

Niti Taylor, last seen in Kaisi Yeh Yaarian in Channel V:

People consider the colour black as the colour of demon.

It is utter rubbish to think that if a black cat crosses your path it will bring bad-luck. I have heard that in Germany if a black cat crosses a human's path it brings immense good-luck! The belief is delusional and I think this myth should totally be eradicated from our society.

The belief that you can know something about a person based on grouping them within various social constructs is extremely wrong. This leads to bigotry, classism, societal discord, and violence.

Adaa Khan, who will now be seen in Naagin 2 on Colors:

The belief that if a black cat crosses your path is a bad omen is false. I too believe in it to an extent and that is because the superstition has been promoted in our society. I want to stop believing in it and I request people not to subject that innocent animal to our social prejudices.

Dipika Kakar, currently seen in Sasural Simar Ka on Colors:

I have shot several times for scenes in which a diya would go off due to gusty winds, and that meant it was a bad omen. But when there is a strong gust of wind, the diya will go off, no?

Debina Bonnerjee Choudhary, currently seen in Dr. Madhumati On Duty on SAB TV:

I followed this very funny superstition in my younger days. I would not show any excitement if my exams went well. I felt that if I did so, I would not fare well. When people asked me, I would say that my exams went okay, and my marks would come out great. I feel so funny about it now.

Subjecting animals to superstitious beliefs is something I would like to ask people to stop believing in. The myth that if a cat, particularly a black one crosses the road is a bad omen is illogical because after all, it is an animal strolling its way somewhere.
