Deepika Padukone and Atlee announced their collaboration for their Pan-India film with Allu Arjun today. He has hailed her as the ‘Queen’. This comes after the much reported online drama over Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. As we know, their partnership fell through as the actress allegedly demanded a huge fee, refused to dub in Telugu and asked for an eight-hour shift. The matter got ugly when Sandeep Reddy Vanga claimed that she leaked the script of Spirit, which has Prabhas as the leading man. Deepika Padukone got a lot of support as there was no proof that she shared the script, and people felt her demand for a work-life balance was justified. People supported her saying that she is a new mother and needs time for her child, who will soon turn one.
The big release of this week is Housefull 5. It is directed by Tarun Mansukhani who earlier made Dostana. In a conversation with India Today, Tarun was asked about the debate on Deepika Padukone’s demand for equal pay, and work-life balance. He said he understood her situation, and was okay about an eight-hour shift. However, Tarun Mansukhani said that actors/actresses need to be more accommodating and put in extra days, if the work is not completed. He said there should be complete clarity so a filmmaker can plan things as per the actor’s requirements.
"You can't come to me at 11 am and say, 'Oh, I need to leave at 5.' I have scenes to finish with other actors, a location that may not be available again, and a budget to look into."
- As told to India Today
Tarun Mansukhani said he understood that as a new mom Deepika Padukone would be very tensed about the well-being of her infant child. He said industry colleagues should support one another. But he said such demands could not be made uniform as situations might be different. He said even he wanted to go home early from work, and be with his dog.
"I want to go home and spend time with my dog. So I get the vibe and totally get the feeling. But just put it in the contract from the beginning, then everyone's prepared."

Netizens said he sounded like a man-child and indirectly showed his support to Sandeep Reddy Vanga. They also compared his statement to what Mira Rajput had said when she was asked about being a working woman as a new mom. She had said that a baby is not a puppy that it can be left at home. Working mothers had taken a lot of objection to the same.
