Salman Khan is perhaps the only Bollywood star whose mediocre movies also rake in a minimum of Rs 100 crores. In career that spans beyond four decades, some of his truly promising projects have been shelved. Here is a lowdown.
Black Tiger
Way back in 2021, it was reported that Salman Khan might team up with Raj Kumar Gupta of Raid fame for his first biopic. It was on the life of Ravindra Kaushik who is regarded as the finest spy India ever produced. Gupta confirmed the same saying that he had the rights to the book and then it expired. The movie would have been titled as Black Tiger. It seems Raj Kumar Gupta had spent five years researching on the life of Ravindra Kaushik and thought of Salman Khan as the leading man. It is sad that such a good film did not make it to the theatres.
The Bull
Salman Khan fans were thrilled when he said that he is collaborating with Karan Johar’s Dharma Movies after 25 years for The Bull. The film was based on the paramilitary operation Operation Cactus that happened in 1988 when rebels threatened to overthrow the Maldives Government and capture President Gayoom. Salman Khan would have been the leading man in this Vishnuvardhan movie. The mahurat was also done. However, the film fell apart due to creative differences. Of late, there was a report that Salman Khan wanted Karan Johar to replace Sidharth Malhotra with Shera’s son Abir (Tiger), which did not appeal to the makers.
Inshallah
Whether it is Khamoshi – The Musical or Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Salman Khan has delivered his finest work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. When Inshallah was announced with Alia Bhatt and him, the whole industry was excited for it. The movie was supposed to be a spring – autumn love story set in the city of Varanasi.
Salman Khan, Atlee’s A6
The superstar confirmed that this much-awaited film with Atlee is not happening any time soon. It seems it ran into budgetary issues. Atlee had plans to cast Salman Khan with a big South actor like Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan.
Prem Ki Shaadi
Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan were supposed to come together for Prem Ki Shaadi. It would be a classic Barjatya family entertainer. But it seems the two had some creative differences, which is why the movie did not start off as scheduled. But the duo are keen to work together and film might just happen.
