Ed Sheeran is teasing his new track, Sapphire with hints about its content. On Monday, the English singer-songwriter posted a teaser on Instagram, featuring behind-the-scenes moments with Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan and superstar singer Arijit Singh. The viral social media post shows SRK singing parts of Sapphire while Sheeran enjoys coffee with Arijit on a barge, generating excitement for the upcoming release.
The video also shows Sheeran immersing himself in Indian culture: singing in Hindi, getting a Punjabi tattoo, playing traditional instruments, and interacting with college students performing a dance. In the caption, he wrote, "Permanent ink so you know the love is real," referring to the Punjabi text on the tattoo.
Ed Sheeran shared photos and videos from his India trip on Instagram. The post included a bus ride, a musical collaboration with "some of the best musicians," and a candid moment with his friend Arijit Singh, enjoying tea on a barge. Arijit Singh was a significant part of Sheeran's Indian trip.
Social media users commented that the tattoo, in a regional language, spells 'Neelam,' meaning blue diamond, a colloquial term for Sapphire. This tattoo is Sheeran's tribute to his upcoming album. Many users noted his embrace of Indian culture, suggesting he should become an Indian citizen.
During his visit, Ed Sheeran spent time with Shah Rukh Khan and was seen in an auto rickshaw in Telangana. He also visited the Baahubali set in Hyderabad. "Sapphire," releasing June 5, 2025, is the third single from his upcoming album "Play," following "Old Phone" and "Azizam." This isn't Sheeran's first meeting with SRK.
Last year, Ed Sheeran met Shah Rukh Khan at his Mumbai home, recreating SRK's signature pose in a viral joint post captioned, "This is the Shape Of Us spreading love." In the video, SRK wore a loose shirt and ripped jeans, while Sheeran sported a marble print sweatshirt and black pants. They played "Deewangi Deewangi" from "Om Shanti Om." Sheeran also held a private concert for SRK at his Mannat bungalow.
