Salman Khan fans were elated when news surfaced that he would team up with Dharma Productions for the action thriller, The Bull. His last stint with Dharma was when he did that unforgettable cameo in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as Aman. However, the first half of 2024, it became evident that The Bull was not happening. This happened after a mahurat ceremony in December 2023. The reasons for the shelving of the film were multiple – some said that the budget overshot the definite amount or how Salman Khan wanted some script changes that did not get a nod from the makers.
Salman Khan’s Sikandar has made close to Rs 200 crores at the box office, but it is still not considered as a clean hit. Moreover, fans are upset with him for choosing films with poor content and execution. An inside source has told Bollywood Hungama why The Bull was canned, and fans have reacted with disappointment.
Salman Khan had liked the idea of Bull, as the film was to tell a story of a senior paramilitary officer and his junior. The film had lots of action and was set against the backdrop of the India - Maldives conflict. While everything was in place, some recommendations from Salman Khan forced Vishuvardhan to rethink the decision to make The Bull.

When the source was questioned further, he revealed that Salman Khan wanted Shera’s son Abir aka Tiger to debut with The Bull. However, Karan Johar and Vishnuvardhan wanted a better casting and had decided on Sidharth Malhotra. He was to play the role of the junior officer. The handsome actor was riding high on Shershaah where he delivered a great performance as an Army man. Salman Khan, however, tried to convince Karan and Vishnu on launching Abir but they were against the idea. They felt it would bring down the impact of the film. This news has really upset fans of Salman Khan who wanted to see him in the movie.
Dharma Movies had built a corpus of Rs 250 crores to spend on The Bull. This was excluding the actor’s fees that start from Rs 100 crores. The team did not want to compromise on the product at any cost. Finally, they decide to shelve the movie, and are hoping to team up on something in the future.
