Team mates react to Manish Goel's injury

Unfortunately for Manish Goel the penultimate week of Zara Nachke Dikha sees him injured with a shoulder injury. The actor has been ruled out from all performances and this has left him and his teammates demoralized as they prepare for the finale.

We spoke to his friends about the actor's injury and how it affects the boys' chances of winning the competition.
Gaurav Chopra

"Manish and I are really close friends and he has been very ill-fated since the very start of Zara Nachke Dikha. First he was benched for two weeks and now his shoulder has been injured severely during the practice. But then Manish is strong willed man and also committed to his part. I personally wish him to get well soon and rock."

Ali Asgar

"Its very unlucky for us as our one man is not well but I strongly believe that we started the show together, we have seen so many ups and down. I accept the down part have been mostly with us. But you know we have this talent within us of never giving up. So what so ever, Manish is part of our team and what ever he can do as the member of team we all welcome him and at the same time he will be the part our team till the end. I wish him luck to recover soon".

Chaitanya

"It's bad that one of our good dancers has dislocated his shoulder while practicing. And it's unfortunate because the finale is just two weeks away. We boys carry a never ending sprit and Manish will carry on with his part as much he can comfortably. There have been changes made in our group performances."

Amit Tandon

"Our one man is down with his shoulder injury and we are pretty hampered but then he is coming up and playing his part very bravely. And it takes lot of effort to do that. So I think Manish is a great man with a very committed attitude."

Manish Goel dislocates his shoulder

"It was a very unfortunate disaster... Last week while practicing with Delnaz, I had to bend on my hand and as a result all my body went on to my right hand... and while executing the step, i landed on my shoulder thereby dislocating it. The worst thing was that there was no one there byt Delnaz and Rupali. It took half an hour to get to the nearest doctor... I am really thankful to them," says Manish.

Manish is gutted that he won't be able to dance as per his doctor's orders. "I think this is really sad but then we can't control some things.. God only decides it all.. My family doctor has said that I need to rest for three weeks. Before that you can't move your shoulder and you know dancing can't happen too."

With Manish unable to perform, we asked whether he had requested for the extension of the show. "There was argument going on about my replacement because of my injury. But then my entire team supported me. And finally a decision was made that I should be the part of my boys' team. I strongly feel that there can't be ca ompetition between seven members in one team and the other having eight. It is complete injustice. And so I will perform as much as I can... let's see," says Manish, "I consulted my doctor and took permission to perform further. I am looking forward to my performance."

Amit Tandon on fashion and style…
by Vidhya Krishnan
Sep 17, 2008, Bangalore

Fashion to me is…
Something that makes you feel good. It is to carry yourself well, be stylish, feel comfortable and look good.

Brands that I dig on...
Most of my jeans are from Calvin Klein, Olives, Lucky, Diesel, Armani Exchange…I like the cut design.

At home, you would find me lounging in...
At home I am as casual as I can get…You can find me lounging in jeans, t-shirts, shorts and PJs.

My gym wear is...
Track pants. A must carry is water, towel and not to forget my iPod.

Formal look to me is...
A suit and tie with a clean shave and a gel-back hair style. Of course I am also a big fan of watches so that would also be included to suit the formal outfit. I am not very comfortable in formals but at my wife's insistence, I wear it frequently.

Casual look for me is…
Jeans and t-shirt.

My party ensemble is...
Jeans and a nice shirt to go with it, pointed or funky shoes and a great watch.

My classic style statement is…
Nothing really. I just believe to dress based on how you feel everyday for a proper look.

Indian designers that I follow…
None! But I don't deny the fact that we do have some extremely talented people.

The ultimate style icon to me is…
Jackie Shroff. The way he dresses himself and the manner in which he carries himself is simply superb.

A must have is…
Wallet.

My party look for the season is….
I guess anything white will do. It suits everybody and goes well with all the colours and at all times.

The perfume, which is my signature statement…
Don Hill, Gen fall, Otia.

The colors of this season…
White anytime. I think it also depends on what suits one.

I'm a fashion junkie when it comes to…
Watches.

My favorite designer is…
Calvin Klein

My most expensive dress is….
Mostly my jeans. They are worth a few hundred dollars.

My most embarrassing fashion faux pas is…
I mostly don't freak people out with the way I dress. But in one of the recent episodes of Zara Nachke Dikha, I had to drape a saree and perform like Sridevi in Mr. India. I guess it was quite hilarious.

My fashion statement for the season is….
Be comfortable and stay cool.

Malaika's Telegu item number shocker!

Malaika Arora Khan who has done several hit item songs in Hindi films, recently shot her first Telugu dance number in Hyderabad and was in for a culture shock. The Chaiyaa Chaiyaa girl, who teamed up with Telugu filmdom's reigning superstar Mahesh Babu in the song, describes the experience as "hysterical".

"All those words and movements and some of those steps - the whole bump-and-grind routine that I was used to was completely changed," says Malaika.

But what really seemed to have surprised Malaika was the complete absence of interaction with her leading man during the dance.

"When I danced with Shah Rukh Khan in Dil Se and Kaal, we were dancing together. But the entire definition of screen-heroism in the south is different. With Mahesh there was absolutely no interaction even though we were dancing on the same set. He was playing the unattainable Adonis and I was the dancer. I found it hilarious. Mahesh said all of five words to me during the entire shooting. But, let me add, he's a thorough gentleman," said the actress who has set many hearts racing with her sexy numbers.

Malaika signed on for the song because her old friend and actress Namrata Shirodhkar, who is married to Mahesh, requested her to do so.

"I never thought I'd dance in a regional film. She (Namrata) said they needed me to do a song and dance. I thought I wouldn't be able to mouth those Telugu words. But Namrata convinced me. It was ages since I had met her. I told her the entire team including the choreographer was unknown to me, and I wouldn't be comfortable. And to me being comfortable in what I do is very important. She told me to just relax and promised to be there for me. When I heard the track, I found it very cool."

The 34-year-old actress will be seen in a full-length role as an actress opposite Arjun Rampal in Suniel Shetty's EMI, but says she is still not open to doing full-length parts.

"I've neither the time nor the patience. Every other day I get an offer. But I politely decline. I really don't have the space or time. I can't divide my time between my son and work. I can't break away for two months and do a film."

He says, "I think it's been a great journey so far for all of us and especially for me. It has become a self developing instrument for me which I can use through my lifetime for dancing," says Vikas, "I must say the ZND platform has set me on fire. Each and every moment has allowed me to learn something about dance, people, and many more aspects of life. I have seen tough situations and at the same time fun moments."

When asked about his performance, Sethi says, "It's been a tremendous experience so far and my performance over all have been satisfactory for me. I really enjoying my each performance and putting all my effort to high roll my team."

Vikas says with the finale coming up all the attention is on the final act and he is hopeful that it will be the boys' team that will walk away the winners.

Saroj Khan to judge Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 3

Ace choreographer Saroj Khan will be one of the three judges in the third season of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. This means the choreographer has changed loyalties and won't be back on Nach Baliye - a show which she has judged earlier.

"No I won't be judging Nach Baliye 4 but yes after Aaja Mahi Ve, I will judge for yet another dance reality show which is called Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. Here too I will be keeping in mind the importance of steps and their routine. I have watched season 2 so I know about the format. It will be an interesting show which I look forward to."

Recently there was also a buzz that Saroj will be turning director but Khan says that the rumour is false. "Whatever news has come is false as I'm not directing any films right now. I am only concentrating on choreography. Just a few months back I completed choreographing Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh in Allladin."

Being such senior choreographer are you happy with the dance set-up in Bollywood?

"Nowadays every song in a movie looks almost the same. Mainly the item numbers have no specific movements which can be seen but till some years back this was not the case. Each song had its own unique steps... For example take the Dhak Dhak song by Madhuri which is still regarded as one of the most loved song. The scenario has changed in the past four to five years."

What's your take on dance reality shows?

"I think reality shows have really made a lot of impact on the audiences. Everyone wishes to be dancer and is learning dance which is very good. If you take the example of Nach Baliye 2 it made a housewife Tina (Hussain's wife) into a dancer. I think it has helped her to grow as a dancer. I remember the blindfold dance which is not an easy task even for the professionals but despite being a non-dancer she did it. Therefore I am in favor of reality shows. Recently the shadow dance which is done by Mouni and Narayani was also wonderful."

With so many years behind her in Bollywood, Saroj says that choreographers today need to be creative. "We have lots of talent and it only needs to be shown. I just wish all the aspiring choreographers that they should come up with something new every time... be creative in steps. Don't use common dance steps. This is how one can create a unique style of dancing and also make their mark in the industry and every choreographer must not forget to make use of our rich Indian culture in your choreography."

Jhalak Dikhla Jaa is expected to go the floors by the end of this year.

Chunky's lament: Dogs are paid more

A dog has been paid more than Chunky Pandey for his latest role, the star says.

t was imported from Bollywood," the Chunky said in explanation, but clearly irritated by the fact. The movie is Rajiv Ruia's Ronnie & Rokky and the name of the dog is Richard.

Richard, incidentally, was sired by Milo, the dog from the Jim Carrey movie The Mask.

Though his rate might be low, at least in his own estimation, Chunky has been enjoying a revival of his career. Besides being seen on TV - he is a judge on the STAR ONE show Zara Nachke Dikha - he will be seen in a half-dozen films that he's working on.

And that will not be the end of it.

"I will also get into production," he threatens. "There's a thinking and multiplex-going audience" looking for movies that are textured, and "you also get easy loans from the market these days. This is the right time to make good films and good money," he said.

His keen commercial sense extends to his television work. "TV pays you well and is a great exposure. It's fun working as a judge than an actor because I can speak my mind. But I will take TV assignments only if I want to be compensated moneywise."

"I want to concentrate on films because my wife has asked me to focus more on Bollywood than on anything else."

Chunky's forthcoming films include "Sankat City", "Daddy Cool", "Shortcut", "Hello Darling", "Paying Guest" and "Khalbali Re Khalbali".

Ali Asgar talks captaincy

"I like being the captain of ZND boys' team. It's a challenge for me to lead them from the front but when I see them doing so well I feel really happy and content," says Asgar.

But along with the good times, Ali says that when any of his boys are picked at, he takes it personally.

"It's painful when my team is not hitting the right spot on the show. Also sometime we deserve to be on top but then luck hooks us to the bottom. I am not a hard task master but then at the end of it I have to manage my Tez Talwar boys," says Ali.

Talking about his personal experience on the show, he says, "I have had a remarkable experience on this particular ZND platform. I have never done any dance reality show in my career so far. So it's a complete adventure ride for me here," he says.

The captain informs that his team is busy preparing for the finale now which will surely be a tough competition.

"As all other captains think their team should turn out to be a victor by end of the game so do I! We will try the best and leave the rest. I hope that that the judgment is a fair one," he signs off.
