Travel with Jennifer Winset

Jennifer Winset (Sneha from Kasautii Zindagi Kay) shares her favourite traveling experience in South East Asia, while on a shoot schedule!

Favourite Destination...
I like Malaysia and Singapore which I visited last year during the shooting of Kasautii Zindagi Kay. I like the shopping malls over there- they're very big and clean and I did a lot of shopping! In Malaysia I found shoes for very cheap so I brought different styles. I also bought a whole lot of western outfits, purses and hand bags. The total amount I spent on my shopping spree was Rs.40,000!

When I had the time over there I visited the amusement park which is very big.

I craved Indian food in Malaysia
In Malaysia, I was really craving Indian food. Whenever I went out shopping I had to eat burgers which I have come to hate because on the tour it was all I was eating. On the sets however we used to have rice with chicken curry.

I lost my passport just before leaving!
I lost my passport on the last day of our shoot. I remember everyone was ready and even I was packing my baggage. I was about to leave and suddenly I realized my passport was no where to be seen. I started crying and the whole crew was searching for it. After a while of searching and no luck we made up our mind to go the embassy for the help. One of the crew member said she would search for the last time and she went upstairs to my room. I was sitting in the lobby when she came and told me she had found it in the corner. This was my worst memory ever.

Mixing work and pleasure
Even though I was not on holiday, because I went there to shoot I had a lot of good memories from the trip. And yes, I also shopped a lot!

Tips for the tourist
Please take care of your valuables especially your pass-port If you aren't familiar with the place you should always travel with people you know
  • January is the best season to go to Malaysia or Singapore

JENIFER VINGET (18)
Something about my background...
"This is my first television venture. I have done a film, Kuch Na Kaho where I played Abhishek Bachchan's sister. I have modeled for Johnson & Johnson and Reynolds.

Something about my role... "I am playing Simran, Kumud's best pal. I have grown up with Kumud in Ludhiana, where she was born. Kumud's mom, Kkusum, agrees to send us together to Mumbai- because Kumud has secured a scholarship, which she wants to pursue. I am shown to be crazy about boys. And I am crazy about Shah Rukh Khan and keep bragging that I know him and his family very well."

Other assignments that I have on my platter... "I am also a part of Balaji's other show Kkoi Dil Mein Hai, where I play Purva Gokhale's younger sister. After seeing me in that serial, Ekta thought that I could carry off Simran's role."

How does she shuttle between the two serials... "Had both the shows not been Balaji's, it would have been difficult. But now, my shots are so adjusted that they don't coincide."

Wasn't the serial getting boring... "It had become monotonous. The viewers were getting tired looking at the same faces again and again. I wouldn't say that the serial should have wound up, not because I am into it now, but there's no harm in trying to revive a good brand. Some zest and vigour has been added to the serial so that the story moves on."

Jennifer would prefer dressing up in a sexy saree over a mini skirt.

Jennifer Winget, the actress from Kasauti Zindagi Kay says that she is a mix of many cultures.

Jennifer would prefer dressing up in a sexy saree over a mini skirt. Fond of music, the actor has a lot of friends in the telly world but has no favourites.

Single and looking for someone witty and classy, Jennifer will soon be spotted as the lead actor in a soap opera on Star Plus.

Chaitanya Chaudhary of "Kahiin Toh Hoga" will soon be seen on Star Plus playing the character of Sagar in the new serial "Sangam". Here are some of the foodie's palate favourites.

Are you a complete foodie or do you watch what you eat?
I used to be an all-out foodie, but now I have to watch what I eat because of my profession. I just can't afford to be careless about it.

Your favourite cuisine -Continental/Oriental/Indian/others.
Although I like many cuisines, my favourite is Chinese. And yes, I must mention that I love lady's-finger, I simply relish Bhindi Masala.

What do you prefer --- homemade food or outside food?
No second thoughts about this, it has to be homemade food.

Do you like vegetarian or non-vegetarian food?
I like both, but given a choice, I have an inclination towards non-vegetarian fare.

What drink do you like along with your food?
I don't drink anything while having food. I drink water only after some time. This is because water dilutes the food and that leads to proper digestion.

Your favorite beverage?
Sweet-and-salt lime water. I think this drink is very refreshing.

Any hard drinks that you consume? If yes, what are the brands you prefer?
I don't take hard drinks at all.

What about junk food?
I do like Vada Pao, but sadly now I can't eat to the brim. I control my temptation somehow.

Your favourite fast food eatery?
SubWay sandwiches are an all-time favourite.

A restaurant/eating place which you think is a must-visit for all and sundry?
I like Aromas of China. The quality, service and the food, all are just amazing. And above all, it's not that expensive either.

Your take on diet and health food?
One should eat lots of organic food; packed foods have preservatives in them and are dangerous. Just eat healthy, and never make your body starve.

What would be that one dish which you will not be able to resist?
Sweets, and I just can't resist chocolate cakes.

Could you share some recipe with us?
I don't get time to cook often, but whenever I do, I try out this and that. I love making bhurjis, especially Egg Bhurji and Egg Pav Bhaji Bhurji. I would like to share the recipe of Egg Pav Bhaji Bhurji. It's one of the easiest to make and tastes fantastic.

Serves one

? chopped onion

1 finely chopped tomato

Salt to taste

Telly Talk

Jennifer Winget aka Sneha of Kasautii Zindagi Kay seems to be having an identity crisis. Because of her name she is often misunderstood to be a foreigner. "Many people feel I might be a foreigner but I want to tell everyone that I am as Indian as any other. My dad is a Punjabi and my mother a Maharashtrian Christian." she exclaims. Often called Sneha, Jennifer admits "I am most often addressed as Sneha, it's only when I reveal my real name that I get funny reactions."

Maybe now she would be able to convince people of her desi origins better as she has bagged the lead role for Star Plus' new TV soap Sangam where she plays a typical Indian.

My man should be like Richard Gere'
30 Aug 2007, 0000 hrs IST,AKASH WADHWA ,TNN

Dressed in a simple salwar kameez Jennifer resembled her on-screen character in the upcoming serial.

Jennifer Winget aka Sneha of the popular soap Kasautii Zindagi Kay may look like a cute, sweet bubbly girl next door with no attitude on the small screen, but let us tell you appearances can be deceptive. When she recently visited the city to promote her upcoming serial, Jennifer was loaded with attitude and nakhras.

Dressed in a simple salwar kameez Jennifer resembled her on-screen character in the upcoming serial.
As we got chatting Jennifer told us that though she began her acting career at the age of 12, she took a long break in-between to complete her further studies. Being an average student, Jennifer soon realised that studies were not her cup of tea and she made up her mind to take up acting as a career.

She starred as a child artiste in R Mohan's Raja Ko Rani Se Pyaar Ho Gaya and later made a grand debut on the small screen as Prerna's daughter Sneha in Kasautii Zindagi Kay .

As for playing a woman double her age in the serial, Jennifer says, I don't have any apprehensions in playing a 40-year-old mother of two kids who are my age, because as actors we must try to understand that such things do come your way and one must be ready for such a leap in time.

When asked about her experience with the so-called dictator of small screen Ekta Kapoor, Jennifer said, I would like to dispel this myth that Ekta is a dictator. It is just that she is passionate about her work and is concerned with the output of the artistes working under her.

However, Jennifer chooses to keep mum on whether she will quit Ekta Kapoor's serial, as her new project demands more of her time. Jennifer also prefers to play it safe when asked about her off-screen chemistry with her on-screen husband (played by Karan Singh) by giving a politically correct answer like: When we play an actor's wife or girlfriend, link-ups are bound to happen.

Jennifer wants her dream man to be just like Richard Gere (no less). She stresses, My man should be a thorough gentleman like Richard Gere and should be classy in all sense. (Karan, are you listening?)

Saroj Khan to grace the grande finale of the battle of the sexes!

by Meenakshi Shankar

Sep 16, 2008, Mumbai

Our ace choreographer is back yet again!

And just when we thought that she was holding fort on Aaja Mahi Vay, we hear that Saroj Khan is gracing the grande finale of Star One's Zaara Nachke Dikha to be aired on Sunday, 28th September.

A three hour showcase, she has been invited to judge the grand finale episode of Zara…

When we contacted her, she confirmed and said, "Yes, I will be judging the grand finale episode of this show. I am quite keen to catch the action and this concept is quite a hit." She added, "I have seen the participants in action in Nach Baliye and these children have never ceased to surprise me. Their moves and their dedication is truly a hit!"

As of now, the girl's team is ahead of the boy's team in terms of scores. But, the boys are determined to defeat the girls. This episode will be the last opportunity for the boys to prove themselves...

Will lady luck favor them or will she veer towards the girls is something that we are going to be tuned into!

The recent one is that Karisma Kapoor is speculated to take the seat as the third judge in the show...

Well the up coming reality show on Star Plus, Nach Baliye 4 is the talk of the season. There had been so many speculative stories about the judges and contestants who were approached for the show.

The recent one is that Karisma Kapoor is speculated to take the seat as a third judge in the show.

Our sources inform that, "Karisma has been taken under consideration for the seat of judge but things are still to be finalized. This time it's going to be three female judges on the show."

Another two jodi's have come out in light with the assumption of being part of the show as contestants. "One couple is Sayali Bhagat and her beau Shoaib Mailk. They have been approached and are quite a known face."

"Another jodi is Karishma Tanna and Bappa Laihiri. For the uninitiated, the lanky Karishma was part of Season 3 in the quest for Talaash-E-Baliye," adds the source.

When contacted Karishma Tanna to confirm the news she says, "I have been approached but I'm not the part of the show. To be in Nach Baliye, I need to have a baliye so find some one for me and I'll be happy to be part of the show".

The buzz is also that Eijaz Khan and his girlfriend Anita Hassnandani were also offered the show. "Well we are not the part of it, says Eijaz. When asked whether the show was offered, he replied, "How does that matter now??"
We hope this guesswork soon comes to an end. Let's wait and watch what's next on the very popular dance reality show!!

Saroj Khan to judge Zara…

Zara Nachke Dikha on Star One has a new judge. No, the show is not replacing Malaika Arora Khan or Chunky Pandey but there is an addition to the panel of judges for the grand finale episode.

Saroj Khan has been invited to judge the grand finale episode of Zara… Saroj Khan says, "Yes, I will be judging the grand finale episode of this show." We asked her about her expectations from contestants like, Gaurav Chopra, Narayani Shastri, Delnaz Paul, whom she has judged earlier in Nach Baliye. She replied saying, "In today's times, one can't have any expectations from their own children, so I don't have any expectations from them. I will get impressed if they do better than what they have done earlier."

As of now, the girl's team is ahead of the boy's team in terms of scores. But they are still determined to defeat the girls. This episode will be the last opportunity for the boys to prove themselves.

The grand finale will air on September 28 (Sunday). It is a three hour episode.
