Rupali wants to work with Karan
Rupali Ganguly drew accolades as a bumbling 'middle-class' bahu Monisha who stands her ground in front of an elegant and chic saas in the popular
Rupali Ganguly
Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.

But, these days she is just chilling out now that the reality show in which she was participating, is finally over. Over to Rupali...

Yes to reality shows

The actress has recently been seen on a reality show on television. So, does she think these shows are more popular than the daily soaps? Rupali replies, "Yes, they are. I have been on two reality shows — Bigg Boss in its first season and recently in Zara Nachke Dikha. I think the audience is sick of the saas bahu serials and they find reality shows more exciting. I had a lot of fun doing these shows. Zara Nachke... was a great experience as I got a chance to showcase my dancing skills and also made loads of new friends."

No filmi chakkar

Rupali made her debut on the silver screen at the age of seven in the film Saheb and she has also appeared in a Bhojpuri film. But, ask her if her fans would be seeing her in a Hindi film in the near future and she quickly says, "My father Anil Ganguly is an acclaimed Bollywood director, but still I am not crazy about Bollywood. Television has given me so much that it's as good as the silver screen for me. In short, mujhe film ki hawa nahin hai. But yes, if Karan Johar offers me a role, I will surely grab it. I am a big fan of Karan Johar."

'Bakhtiyaar spoilt it all'
By: Subhash K Jha
Date: 2008-10-03

Mumbai:

now you know whom to blame if you don't see me on your tv any time soon: Malaika Arora

Zara Nach Ke Dikha concluded last week, and during the he finale episode, judge Malaika Arora was appalled by the behaviour of the male contestants, especially Bakhtiyaar Irani, who has acquired quite the reputation for rubbing judges and fellow-contestants the wrong way.

Says Malaika, "Bakhtiyaar definitely has a huge chip on his shoulder. Zara Nach Ke Dikha was my fourth reality show, but I've never encountered such bad behaviour."

Sore losers

The male contestants staged an en masse walkout at the grand finale after they realised they were losing. A livid Malaika says, "Can you believe what sore losers men can be? I've always maintained that the male ego is the worst thing in the world. There's no way we women can deal with it. But to come on a reality show, promise to be sporting, and then walk out saying the judges didn't know their jobs was honestly a bit too much. I was aghast."

Temper tackle

Adds Malaika. "I lost my temper and I'm not ashamed of it. The guys really behaved badly, especially Bakhtiyaar, who I noticed had an attitude problem from Day One. He can't take defeat. Since the show was formatted as a men-versus-women thing it was only natural that either the boys or the girls would win. But Bakhtiyaar and the other boys just spoilt three months of the time we all spent together as a family on the show."

What appalled Malaika even more was the fact that Bakhtiyaar actually blasted guest-judge Saroj Khan. "I couldn't believe what I heard when I saw Bakhtiyaar lashing out at Sarojji. Bakhtiyaar really needs to put his ego to rest before going another reality show."

The grand finale was not the only time Malaika faced-off with Bakhtiyaar. "Once earlier, I had intervened on behalf of my colleague Chunky Pandey. The boys proved Indian men treat women as the weaker sex. Luckily, I have a husband who treats me as an equal. Who knows how my son will turn out!"

The experience has embittered Malaika and she may not do another reality show for a while. "In any case, I'd like to take a big break between two shows."

Zara Nach Ke Dikha has just come to a close and the suave Gaurav Chopra has wasted no time in keeping in touch with his teammates on the show, especially a certain Mouni Roy.

Just yesterday, the two were seen catching the latest Imran Khan flick, Kidnap, at a theatre in Andheri. Casually dressed in a yellow t-shirt and white cargo pants, Gaurav looked relaxed as he escorted a radiant Mouni, in a white top and sky blue capris, into the theatre for the 8:15 evening show.

Gaurav, who has been in a relationship with TV actress Narayani Shastri for years, went on the defensive when asked about his date. He said, "Yes, we went for the movie but there were other friends who were supposed to accompany us."

When prodded, Gaurav pleaded saying, "Please, we are just friends; we've just got to know each other. We worked together on Zara Nachke Dikha and that's when we met."

As for the movie, Gaurav is a self-confessed movie buff who loves to catch up on the latest films releasing. He said that he enjoyed the film. We wonder whether it had anything to do with his company.

Mouni, who is in a long distance relationship with her boyfriend in Kolkatta, was unavailable for comment.

kept my boys quiet-Ali Asgar

Asked why his boys team protested during the ZND finale, he said: "It was obvious that we were not happy with the judges and it's not just about the finale. Since the very beginning judges were lacking somewhere in their judgment."

He said, "and on the finale night paani sar ke oopar nikal gaya. They way they judged the face-off round was bad. And my team was ready to reply to the judges. But some how I manage to stop them. If we would have confronted the judges on the show the scene would have been worse than what people saw."

Ali adds, "you know I took it as a bad phase that our side went through - why even Sachin Tendulker being world's no one batsman gets trapped by the wrong pronouncement of umpires. And the same happened with our team in the ZND finale."

Asked how he felt now, he said: "I have no regrets now; whatever my team did, I am happy with the effort. And that's what makes me feel good as captain."

Commenting on Bhakhtiyar's performance in the finale, he said: "I think what he performed was better than the other, in spite of his being unwell. But unfortunately he lost. That's why we could not keep our cool further and protested against the judges in the finale, instead of performing."

Delnaaz: I would not have insulted judges

"I would not have insulted judges in the ZND finale even if they made the wrong judgments," Delnaaz said, "It was unfortunate with the boys that they got some bad comments from the judges' side."

So was it fair that boys walked off the stage? Delnaaz says: "All I would say is that it was really bad because when you enter in such a reality show you have to take everything sportingly rather showing your anger on the show. It will create a wrong impression of your personality."

She added, "And one more thing I would like to say is this: Bhakhtiyar is no doubt is the best dancer from boys' side. But disobeying the judges' decision was completely insane."

"I have seen Bhakhtiyar being overconfident about himself, but the fact is, and it's something he is not aware of, being overconfident
does not work in this industry. And on the ZND finale the boys' team was lacking a primary strategy. And I think that's made the difference."

If one of their best dancers was dismissed by the judges, wouldn't the girls protest as the boys did? "I will never protest the way the boys did. I can't even think of insulting the judges like the boys team did in the ZND finale."

She said, "I agree that the judges made a couple of wrong judgments but that does not mean you retaliate in such a nasty manner. And
moreover from the boys' side it was a one-man army, where Bhakhtiyar has pressure on his shoulders. But then also it was unfortunate with them that their luck was not with them in the ZND finale."

Participants play musical chairs
The stage was set for Nach Baliye 4.
Karan Grover and Shraddha Nigam

But the channel was in for a shock as their star jodi of Karan Grover and Shraddha Nigam opted out at the last minute. The reason? Karan suddenly told them that he was not very confident of his dancing skills.

Karanvir Bohra and Teejay Sidhu have replaced Karan and Shraddha in the reality show.

A source said, "Karan looked uncomfortable from the beginning. He came very late for the Meet & Greet event, which was held for the contestants to get familiar with each other," said a source from the channel.

When contacted, Shraddha confirmed the news that they had opted out. But, she gave a different reason for the same. "We did not have time for rehearsals. Karan is too busy these days which is why we opted out. We hadn't confirmed our participation in the first place. Karan has no problem dancing," she said
Karan had recently performed on Hai Rama from Rangeela with co-host Shweta Gulati on the show Zara Nacke Dikha

Karan's pull out from NB4
Karan's pull out from NB4
A rumour that is now doing the rounds is that Karan Singh Grover and Shraddha Nigam have been dropped from Nach Baliye 4 due to lack of commitment and co-operation. BUT THATS NOT TRUE...!!! Their pull out was a mutual decision by the channel (Star Plus) and the couple as Karan is too busy with his debut film and his show Dill Mill Gayye.

A well placed source from the industry informed, "Karan Singh Grover has a big banner film in his kitty and it was impossible for him to manage his serial Dill Mill Gayye, the film and Nach Baliye 4 at the same time. He was committed to this film before joining Nach Baliye 4. Karan had made his date problems clear to the channel but the production house and the channel were keen on having Karan and girl friend Shraddha and so were they. But as Karan's dates couldn't be sorted out, they all came to a mutual conclusion that the couple should opt out from the show. On the sets of Zara Nachke... where Karan was a host, he would often express his desire to participate as a contestant in a dance reality show as he is a good dancer."

When approached Shraddha, she said, "Due to Karan's date issues, the channel, the production house and we mutually decided that it will be best, if we don't do Nach Baliye 4. This is exactly what happened. It is unfair for anyone to say that we were not committed or we were dropped."

When asked about Karan's film assignment, she said, "I don't want to divulge any details of his film. All I would say is that Karan is taking a brave step by doing Dill Mill… and films at the same time. He does not want to quit Dill Mill…as he is too attached to the show. He was telling me that he wants to break this popular norm that television actors are not accepted in films. I am sure he will be liked by his fans irrespective of the medium."

We too are sure that his work will be appreciated.

'Chunky was very rude on 'Zara Nachke Dikha''

NEW DELHI: Long after STAR One's reality dance show "Zara Nachke Dikha" came to an end, popular TV actor Ali Asgar still carries a grudge against the judges, especially actor Chunky Pandey.

"Chunky used to say things like 'you should hang yourself' and completely write us off before a performance. We had very bad vibes with the judges," Ali, who captained the boys team, said over phone from Mumbai.

Ali was on the dance show with prominent TV actors Bhaktyaar Irani, Gaurav Chopra, Manish Goel, Chaitanya Choudhary, Amit Tandon, Vikas Sethi and child artiste Arnev Pandya to compete against an equal number of girls.

But in the last round of the grand finale telecast Sep 28 2008, the boys came together, moved around the stage and just clapped, expressing their disappointment at the decisions of the judges.

The judges Malaika Arora Khan and Chunky Pandey reacted. Dance maestro Saroj Khan, who was the guest judge for the day, also voiced her displeasure.

Chunky even said that he wanted to get a sex change operation done after seeing the attitude of the boys.

"We were forced to walk off the stage. We didn't want to lose. We had given the show our full dedication for three and a half months. As the captain of my team, I didn't want us to react this way, but we had no option," Ali said.

Ali is best remembered for his role as Kamal in the serial "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii", that came to an end last week.

Talking about the disastrous end of the dance show, he said: "It was all about respect for me. The judges were highly rude and if we performed badly, we had every right to do so.

"The judges were big celebrities and they should have judged other celebrities like us in the right way too," Ali said.

Ali was also a part of another reality show "Comedy Circus", which he won and is currently looking forward to a couple of films in the near future.
