Agreed, Meera! Today's episode went a long way in terms of damage control, because of how they balanced things between the brothers and sisters. I am not a fan of Abir's classic strategy of running away from problems 🤔 but I can't say that I am against beginning this hiatus on a lighter note (and I hope they leave it there instead of introducing new drama before the break).
For me there were a few more redeeming points:
Kuhu's confusion that Abir wasn't at all upset about his mom (me too, girl, me too)
Kunal explicitly backtracking when Mishti went on her rant, saying how difficult Kuhu is to live with. At this point my expectations are so low that I'm grateful he didn't agree with her and have a good laugh!
And most of all, the reminder of Kunal's complete lack of self-worth (when he said that sometimes he worries if Kuhu even likes him). It sort of softened and humanised yesterday's behaviour. When Kunal said he doesn't know what happens in a real shaadi and that he needed Kuhu to teach him everything, he really wasn't kidding even a little.
But it also shouldn't be Kuhu's sole responsibility -- I wish he could get some guidance like Abir got from Parul yesterday but it seems like that kind of sensible advice is reserved for the leads to have a perfect relationship. Our pair have to create drama and are therefore debarred from external support for the time being.
When Kuhu is insecure about their relationship, she gets pushy and demanding and when Kunal is insecure, he pushes her away as a way to reject her before she can reject him. That's sort of what happened in yesterday's fight and somehow that one line from Kunal today helped me see it in a new light.
