What is awkward is first bringing in real world lense to an itv show where characters flip flops according to convience of the writer

Either you agree that it's an itv show - so we can discuss that yes present script is abysmal. Abhira will flip back when script demands . So really it's not that serious
Or you judge Abhira s character through modern day real world lense - through which Abhira is victim of severe bullying and is clearly going through worse form of mental heat.
