Naina goes to Chachaji and fidgets with her dupatta..
'Chachaji, mujhe aapse kuch zaroori baat karni hai. '
Chachaji-Haan bolo Naina.
Naina- Chachaji Main soch rahi hoon ki main koi noukri dhundh loon. Aap galat mat samjhiye. Poora din ghar pe baithkar bore ho jaati hoon.(She blinks her eyes as she tries to hold in her tears as she remembers Sameer's words saying she got things too easily) koi choti moti accountant ki job bhi ho to kar hi sakti hoon na.
Chachiji- Beta damaadji to itna accha kamate hai. Phir tu kyu noukri karegi. Ghar sambhalna koi asaan kaam nahi hota. Pehle use theek se bkar.
Naina- Choti si noukri karoongi to ghar sambhalna bhi ho jayega.
Chachaji- Mujhe lagta hai Naina sahi keh rahi hai. Phir bhi beta ekbaar Sameer se baat kar lo. Aakhir pati hai tumhara. Uski bhi razamandi zaroori hai.Aur mujhe poora yakeen hai ki woh haan kahega. Phir bhi use ekbaar bata do.
Naina-Aap bata dijiye na. Main bolu to gussa bhi kar sakta hai . Pad aapki baat nahi taalega. Woh asal main aaj se hi noukri dhundhne nikal rahi hoon. Aap ko to pata hi hai noukri dhundhna kitna mushkil hai. Ek din bhi deri ki to bohut der ho jaayegi. Aur thodina abhi hi join kar le rahi hoon. Bas interviews doongi.
Chachaji-Theek hai beta jaisa tum sahi samjho. Main abhi damaadji se baat karta ho.
Naina-Aap baat kijiye main nikalti hoon.
Chachaji-Arey thoda ruk jao. Abhi bas.
Naina-Chachaji bohut late ho jaayega. Please. Aap baat kar lijiye na.
Naina leaves.
Chachiji-Bhagwaan jhooth na bulaye Preeti ke papa aapko nahi lagta ki sabkuch theek nahi hai.
Chachaji- Arey naya naya grihasthi basa hai. Thodi khatpat to hoti hi rahegi. Thodi na Sameer Sharad ki tarah hai jo Naina pe haath uthayega ya uski beizzati karega. Thoda manmutaav to hota rehta hai.
The phone dropped from Sameer's hand. Chachaji didn't realise that he had accidentally dialled Sameer's number after Naina left and Sameer had heard every word of their conversation.
Sameer is sweating badly as he realises the impact of his actions. He had committed a crime . Yes, he detested people who raised their hands on women and today he raised a hand on his Naina! He had once almost killed Sharad for doing the same and had proudly claimed no one can love Naina more than him and he'll kill anyone who dares to misbehave with her.
And what had he himself done? Insulted her at every step and even went on to slap her? His tears were unstoppable. He tried to call Naina's home only to hear engaged tone on the other side. He just didn't understand what to do.. if he was any broken by Mama's betrayals, he was destroyed by his own actions. He was ashamed of himself. He was ashamed of what he would tell his Nanu, that he slapped his wife? His Nanu must be heartbroken to know this.
The promises he had made and how brutally he had broken them and hurt the only person who loved him truly after Nanu .As the realisation dawned upon him, he couldn't take the mental stress anymore and fell down unconscious.
At Sharma Enterprises.
At the interview board.
Interviewers- Mrs. Naina Sameer Maheshwari. Wait a second. Are you in anyway related to Mr. Jaiprakash Maheshwari?
Naina(stunned but managed to compose herself and said) I am his grandson Sameer Maheshwari's wife .
Interviewers- Then I don't understand why are you here at all.
Naina-Sir, I would like to prefer you to treat me like any other candidate and judge me just like you would judge any other.
Interviewers- Hmm . School and college topper. Your academic records are briliant. We would love to have you on board. But we don't want any interference from Maheshwari Industries. So I am sorry, we can't give you this job. You may leave.
Tears well up in her eyes as she realises that this marriage has not only taken away the love and care of Sameer, but also the only thing she was confident of having in her life, a successful career.
Interviewers- However if you can obtain a no-objection certificate from the head of Maheshwari Industries, that is, your husband, then we can think over this.
Naina(wipes her tears and says)-Okay sir.
Naina takes an auto to Sameer's house. As she steps outside she remembers those harsh words and the slap of Sameer.
She enters the house and rings the bell at the door.
Sameer regains his consciousness and somehow manages to stand up . He goes to the door and is overjoyed to see Naina standing at the door. Naina doesn't cast a look at him and says.
'Mr. Sameer Maheshwari, owner of Maheshwari Industries, I need a no-objection certificate from you for a job. Don't worry, I won't forcefully live in this house anymore. Even if I have to, I'll bear my own experiences. I am a middle class girl. This job will be enough to fend for myself. Keep your luxuries to yourself. '
Sameer ( shocked at her decision and realising how much he had hurt her,says) -Naina main.
Naina- Haath jodti hoon tumhare samne, bhagwaan ke vaaste aur kuch sunane ki zaroorat nahi hai mujhe. Tumhare paison pe roti todne nahi aayi hoon nahi tumhare ghar mein rehne aayi hoon. Bas mujhe yeh certificate de do phir tumhe meri middle class badsoorat ladki ki shakal nahi jhelni hogi aur.
Sameer says- Pad main owner hoon hi nahi. Yeh sab kuch mamaji ka hai.
Naina-seedha seedha bolo ma ki tum mujhe yeh certificate nahi dena chaahte. Chaahte ho ki tumhare pair pe parkar gidgidaoon rouun.
Sameer shakes his head in a no.
Naina- Main Sharma Enterprises mein gayi thi accountant ke job ke liye. Unhone mujhse clearly kaha ki Maheshwari Industries ke owner tum ho. Tumse certificate leni hogi. Tumhare mamaji ka to naam bhi nahi kiya unhone.
Sameer looks on bewildered. Sharma Enterprises is a very renowned business company in Ahmedabad. They know each and every detail of every company. And if they ate saying he is the owner then there must be some substance in it. Is mamaji lying?
Naina-Ohh to tum nahi doge right. Bolo Sameer Kya karna hoga. Bartan dho doon? Pair daba doon. Ya aur kuch . Aakhir baithe bithaye mujhe ek certificate bhi kyu mile?
Sameer-Yeh sab kya bol rahi hoon Naina?
Naina-Tumhi ne to kaha tha mujhse. Bas tumhare shabd dohra rahi hoon. Koi baat nahi main kar deti hoon. Aakhir patni dharm to nibhana padega na.
She rushes to the kitchen and starts washing the heaps of utensils that had accumulated.
Sameer vo-Jo usdin Naina ne kiya aur kaha mujhe chaante se bhi zor pada. Shayad chilla deti ya ekbaar aur kaske thappad laga deti to shayad itna bura nahi lagta. Jaise jaise mujhe apni galtiyon ka ehsaas ho raha tha main bikharta jaa raha tha.
Naina starts sweeping the floor. Sameer rushes upstairs and prepares the certificate and brings it down.
Sameer-Yeh sab karne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Maine tumhara certificate bama diya hai m please tum yeh.
Naina-Nahi Sameer Maheshwari.. Main ghar ka saara kaam karke hi jaoongi. She goes upstairs and brings out Sameer's clothes for washing.
Sameer holds her hands and shouts-Pagal ho gayi ho kya. Yeh kya kiye jaa rahi ho. Kyu kar rahi ho?
Naina jerks her hands free and goes on with her work. Sameer pleads her but she doesn't pay any heed. At last Sameer loses patience and shouts at her "Nainaa".
Naina-Thappad maarna hai maar lo. Aao aaj khud main tumse keh rahi hoon mar lo. Btw Maine poora ghar saaf kar diya hai kapre bhi sukha diya hai. Mere hisaab se kaanji jitne paise leta iske liye utne mein yeh certificate ban gayi hogi na. Thank You.
Naina takes the certificate from Sameer and leaves.
