Truptishree, I do understand what you are saying and I do agree that one has to learn to fight one's own battle. However, you had an arranged marriage and your in-laws supported you. In this case, Naina stands alone with very little support. They got married without much approval and now if Sameer does not stand for her, who else will? I am assuming later on Naina will learn to fight for herself but at this point I personally think it is too early.
Believe me I don't like this stage of Naina where Sameer is doing everything and anything for her. That kind of support actually cripples you. What actually starts as a gesture of love becomes habit of expecting your partner to fix everything for you thereby hindering the personal growth. Hopefully that side of Naina will change soon.
However since they are just newlyweds and since they married under such non-optimal circumstance, I do believe Sameer should have supported her and saved her from public humiliation, at least at this stage of marriage.
Shilpa I agree with you that Sameer having become Naina's saviour has made her very dependent on him. This was seen in her crying during the saree tying fiasco and saying, "Sameer ab toh utt jao." as if he was going to help her to tie the saree. She could not even think of a solution, like asking Poonam or Vishakha or any other woman, on her own. Whether this will change any time soon will have to be seen.
Yes she will require Sameer's support particularly in public when she faces difficulties and he ought to have supported her even if it was just by remaining by her side during this hair revelation episode. His walking away angrily also gave the relatives even more reason to taunt some more.
I do however understand, but not condone, his actions. He's angry that she has not fulfilled his dream. More than the hair thing, it is that he has been dreaming of her wearing beautiful sarees with her hair open and flowing whilst she serves him. This dream has been shattered. This is the reason for his anger. He has done many things to realise Naina's dreams and gone to some extreme lengths to make her happy. He is however expecting to be rewarded for this either through the kiss or the fulfilment of his dreams. Now the curls have shattered this. This is the cause of his anger and we know that Sameer's greatest enemy is his anger. At least the older Sameer realised that he was wrong as his voice over says that he should have supported her.
Finally Bela saying what happened to her hair since she came to her sasuraal was casting an aspersion on the sasuraal. They therefore reacted against having the blame placed on them. Yes Mami could and should have responded in a much more mature way, but as usual she used the opportunity to spit venom. The relationship between the Agarwals and Maheshwaris will not get better unless the elders behave like elders, sit down talk respectfully to each other and agree to a cessation of hostilities.
