Was it just last week we were complaining about the crap that we bear witness courtesy of this show? I honestly am stunned speechless at what we witnessed today, what they delivered today - yes I was aware, as were all of us of what was coming, knew this is headed our way but somehow the OLV', the segments didn't do justice and I am so thankful for that, to the wonder that was tonight' episode.

This is why, despite all that makes us want to yell, rant and grumble we stick around, the brilliance that this show manages to deliver every once in a while reminding us why we chose to love it in the first place and making us stick to that decision, despite the numerous complaints we had.

I had read so much about this twist in terms of opinions on our forum itself when the fire promo was made known to us. There was so much sympathy, love; pity aimed towards Shagun in a way in those or rather should I say hatred spewed for Ishita that translated into commiserating with Shagun it baffled me, to put it mildly.

I was honestly reminded of something J.K. Rowling said about how it unnerves her and shocks her when girls fall for Draco, in the woman' words - ""Draco," writes Rowling, "has all the dark glamour of the anti-hero; girls are very apt to romanticise such people. All of this left me in the unenviable position of pouring cold common sense on ardent readers' daydreams, as I told them, rather severely, that Draco was not concealing a heart of gold under all that sneering and prejudice and that no, he and Harry were not destined to end up best friends."

What makes Draco such a hot property is stated above as well as in what's not written, that he is eye candy; so all in all it makes you understand what is the lure, the compulsion of liking the bad boyhere. It stands to an explanation though the reasoning is not sane as to why is the forbidden fruit so tempting - what it doesn't explain is why should the same be applicable for Shagun.

I do admire a few things from her wardrobe from time to time I will give the woman that, but she certainly isn't the benchmark you would want to set up for yourself. In reality, you would be weary of associating yourself with a woman like her especially if you live in a society like ours, not because of what she has done or could do, but because associating with her might make people judge you from her yardstick. I was hence very torn and amused at the things I read about this on the forum - that this is all another way to glorify Ishita or another unsavory name that is coined for our dear Ishimaa that I am sure you are aware of...

Tonight though I didn't see any such thing sadly, else I would have joined the brigade who pities Shagun, the reason I refrained from doing so for so long is also that I don't jump on my guns just like that, I am the kind who likes her eggs to hatch before she counts her chickens you see. Any way as I was saying, I didn't see any such attempt at the glorification of poor little Ishimaa, who despite laying down her life would still be called so many things and not just by Shagun...

I didn't see a woman playing Rambo at the first sign of danger. I didn't see a superwoman there trying to lift the entire building on her shoulder. Nor did I see her dousing out the fire that was getting wilder by puffing her cheeks and blowing air at it, all I saw was a woman, a mother, a very scared woman who also happened to be a mother, just not a biological one to the kids who were caught in the crosshairs here.

As I said, I saw someone who I could identify with tonight.

I saw a woman who followed an instinct, a hunch or woman' intuition as they say when she asked the guard last night whether he knew anything about one Shagun Arora, the woman she thought might help in this time of trouble. She didn't hold any grudges or enmity, she just had one thing in mind - trying whatever she can to find her kids, safe and sound, as I am sure any mother in her place would have done.

At times like these, when you find your kids in danger you don't really care who you have to beg for help - even if it's your worst enemy, your arch nemesis, because nothing matters more than saving your kids does.

That instinct/hunch/intuition led her tonight to a place where at first she almost failed, was almost finding herself back at square one when suddenly she saw, the person who she came to seek in front of her. She laid bare the entire situation at hand...what she didn't expect was to find the one she came to ask for aid, would be the culprit herself.

Barely had the shock of the revelation begin to sink...that an explosion happened - a literal one.

And here' where the subtle nuances that differentiate the two women begin to appear - the first one says - that's my flat...the other one says Ruhi and Adi...

The first one identifies the place, understands and knows who and what is at stake there but her first words are about a materialistic possession which crumbled to dust - the words of the other woman were the names of her two children - priceless, irreplaceable and once lost, if heaven forbid they would have been, unrecoverable.

They rush to the flat and while the first woman tries her might to get in the locked apartment, it's the second one again who calls and pleads for help stating her kids are locked in the place.

As they find themselves some saviors, again the first woman has not a word or a look of concern for either of her children, the very kids she claimed to miss and love to one and all. The very kids she laid a claim on not moments ago as if they were mere possessions to use and make off with or chuck out as per her whims and fancies.

The little girl in there who had cried herself to sleep, who not moments ago again found herself in tears because she was missing her mother and scared to be in a new place was finally able to relax. Comforted by the presence of her elder brother (who barely was holding himself together) and the knowledge that her papa was gonna make it soon, did something tonight she normally would have never done - she asked her birth mother for help, cried out to her. Though not for herself, but her big brother, the one child she assumed their mother genuinely loved.

And when she saw what came off it - her cries ceased, her tears too stopped - tonight her brother too was abandoned by their mother, just like she was. Tonight her brother too found himself in the same place she found herself in all those years ago when as an infant their mother walked out on them. The only difference was - she was too young to understand when it happened to her and with time and experience brought on by the familiarity of the woman who gave birth to her, she learned to live with it. When she found herself a mother, one who truly loved her, she moved on from it - tonight though she saw what she always heard about, what she had always known her mother to do but never witnessed it the way she did today - she saw her mother abandon and run away. Abandon her own flesh and blood, run away choosing herself over someone she claimed to love and it broke her heart and hurt her soul.

Tonight Ruhi saw one of the ugliest moments of her life at an age meant to play and laugh.

In that moment though no one lost their life - Ruhi did lose something - she lost a part of her innocence, a part of her naivete, a hope that perhaps, perhaps their mother isn't entirely incapable of love and feelings for someone else except for herself and it was heartbreaking,

In the one instance Ruhanika simply killed it with the expression of stunned disbelief she had on her face, as she saw her biological mother leave and abandon another child of hers - this time the one she claimed to love, the one the little girl thought was loved at least , if not her.

In that moment though she didn't do so willingly, she loosened the grip on the mother she held onto because she realized, that her brother didn't have one while she found herself saved by hers.

Is it any wonder that what we are about to see, the slight glimpse that we saw today off beforehand is equally heartbreaking and soul stirring.

Once before this little girl had raised her voice against the very mother when she tried to claim the place she had willingly given up ages ago - that of being her father' wife and her mother as she broke the ties that were being formed by her brother as he held hands with their parents, trying to link them. Then she had not spared her brother, as well to defend the mother who though didn't give birth to her was her family, her world. Tomorrow that very girl would rise again, this time in defense of the same brother shunning the woman who birthed them yet again, this time for walking out on her brother, the child who loved and believed in her when no one did or no one would.

I'll try to be back later with a post on father and children - right now the mothers and kids have drained me completely.

The performances tonight be it from Divyanka, Karan or Gautam were amazing - however the one person who overshadowed everyone, who towered above all her seniors definitely is Ruhanika for me, hats off to the little girl who I see will go a long way in the future.

A little something from my end too tonight since I just couldnt' NOT make something on this little scene of Ruhi' 😳
