Well I don't know anything about Deepika's war with the media, but I completely agree with what you've said here...most celebrities cannot go at it with their fans and come out on top...

it's a lose-lose situation because they're seen as stooping...engaging us regular people lol, if you want to engage, then keep it on brand, or do it only to reenforce the positives...I'll use Anita H. again (it really is amazing how good she is at it), she posted a video thanking her fans, and she does this every now and then...there is closeness but the distance is maintained.

i am not on tweeter or insta, come on IF for ishra/Divan and the love for this show,selfies are always a treat. basher are always a minority to the huge fan base they have. Bashers will always bash,its in their nature so divyanka message will not empact them and they will carry on but us fans of the show and them as actors will feel like, what just happened . divyanka told all fans off but gave us a selfie with it,so confusing. she just made a section of fans who are not aware of off screen issues intrigued to find out more.

I love both Karan and divyanka as individuals,fabulous actor,however they need to think before they post such messages.

Yes being in media myself now i know how tricky this field is. Sometimes even ur PR team lets u down. Its a tough task which needs intelligent strategy. If the artist has that sense than without PR team it can be well managed. Depends on how much an actor in need of work becoz the more u r in news or the more u have fan's presence and activity in ur public profile the more it benefits the artist psychologically and emotionally about their purpose of joining the industry. Fandom gives mental satisfaction. Today Social media is artist source of their promotion which if carefully and maturely handled than is profitable return in terms of getting work, recognition and increase of fan base.

Thank you for posting this thread - Divyanka is a great actress and seems like a great person as well but I do feel she takes things a little to personally especially when things go bad. She needs to disassociate herself from all the bashing that comes her way - it's part of the celebrity agreement - she cannot please everyone - there will be those who love her and then there will also be those who hate her. It's something that every celebrity goes through. All she has to do like you said, is focus on the good, of promoting her shows, causes she's involved in and leave it at that. Dedicating posts to bashers just feeds their frenzy and gives them an opportunity to hurt her further and it will eventually turn into a never-ending circle.

Not taking sides but comparing divs with anita is totally off.I am pretty sure Anita was not totally spammed with crazy fan messages,she is married and mostly she plays vamp and ppl love her work and leave it at that.
Drama leads or always in tipsy position with crazy fans following their every move and if you are hit as an jodi,there will be all kind of rumors surrounding you and i guess i don't need to explain where karan n divs stand here,so yeah dealing with fans is very important to tell them off,or else it may effect their working environment.

Yes, I've compared them, but not for any malicious reason. I did so for the sake of my argument and I still stand by that. In terms of social media presence and strategy, Anita is killin it...I'd use her in any example, and I have in fact during one of my meetings for work...I showed an intern of ours what a good Instagramer looks like. She IS that good. Period. If you don't follow her, I suggest you check her page out...it's a master class in how to do Instagram right for any would be celebrity instagramers.

She just happens to be on the same show as Divyanka...so using her as an example only seemed fitting. But I guess I've stepped on some toes ahahaha...but I hope I've cleared up my reasons for using Anita as a comparison.

I wasn't familiar with either of them before watching the show...as I said in my initial post, YHM is only the second Indian show I've watched. But I've enjoyed watching them and through India Forums I found out they were on Instagram...so I followed them (again I handle the social media strategy at work so I'm constantly online)...Divyanka posts frequently, which is great, but again Anita is even more frequent...the only other one from the show who shows up with any regularity on my feed is Aly Goni...he is pretty good too, sticks to his brand...but I don't think he's as strategic as Anita. Honestly, she really is that good. You need to check her page out to get what I mean.

So I wasn't throwing shade at Divyanka by using Anita's example...her example is just fitting.

You're exactly right...her comments highlighted a small segment of the fan base...and all others, including myself, we're left scratching our heads about what the flying eff just went down lol.

Johnny Depp has been credited for saying this "Never complain and never explain"...he apparently said this to Kate Moss when she was an up and coming model...it's freakin fantastic advice for all celebrities...just stick to that and you'll be good! Lol

Social media can be used properly even if you don't have a good PR team. Divyanka is definitely not hurting in the talent or fan department, she's killing it...but from this Instagram post and from that explanation video, and the media release for which she made the explanation video (even if it was misconstrued by the media...which sucks)...from all of these very recent incidents what I've surmised is her lack of finesse in the PR game. Just a little more thought, more startegy and she's be killing it too.

What I expect from her is what I'd expect from any professional in any field who is using any social media platform, ignore the effin trolls homie! You can't win, and by replying you end up not only feeding them but you risk at best confusing, and at worst antagonizing your followers.

It's the 21st century...your web presence is important even if you aren't a celebrity, but if you are a celebrity then it's crucial for you to get your ishh on lock!

Hope that's a bit more clear.
