Chapter 7
When the groom led the bride to the car for the rukhsati, the women particularly seemed too emotional. The bride's side was both happy and sad for obvious reasons. Among all the emotional women, the groom's mother seemed way too happy to control her tears of happiness, she got the perfect bahu and her son finally showed that he still an ounce of goodness for saving the day and at last he was not after just any girl anymore but a married and responsible son, and a husband. She only prayed that the two stay together for the rest of their lives and find happiness in each other.
However, the newly married couple were not the only one with awkward moments, their respective elder brother and sister had problems of their own to manage although their inner turmoil was restricted to them only and the others didn't find anything odd between the two of them. After getting all the preliminaries done, ishita made her daughter sleep and lied down next to her still lost in her thoughts.
The new turn of events had her occupied even now, he thought as he claimed his place on bed, waiting for his wife to arrive. He thought about the promise he made to mihir to keep the secret of his family to himself only, he had to do it for all the trouble he had gone through to break the ties with his family. And before he knew it his family had become mihir's. As he kept playing his words in his mind, he can't help but blame the one woman who, he had no doubt about, was behind this treachery. Behind ruining her own brother's happiness. He knew mihir enough to not turn any one down when in need even if it included his sister whom he had disowned long ago. He had gathered her malicious scheme when she sent him a message, informing that her brother was tending to her in hospital and so will be missing his own wedding. Although in the next instant he had tried calling mihir but he didn't pick up and he knew then she had once again marked her victory!
When he woke up next morning, he found the space next to him empty. He checked his daughter's room next and found his wife and his little angel cuddled up. He smiled at the peaceful sight and went back to his room to get ready for work and to also check up on mihir, he must be devastated. During the time he got ready, his wife only seemed interested in getting his stuff and breakfast ready. He blamed the eventful wedding last night for her weird behavior but when she didn't speak to him at all except for a mere 'okay' or 'yes' and 'no' and refused to see him in the eye, he knew it was him. "Why are you avoiding me?" He finally asked.
"I'm not avoiding you." She replied while clearing the dining table, looking every where but him.
"Then why don't you talk to me?"
"What is there to talk about?" And she left to keep the mug and plate in the wash basin. He followed her to the kitchen, held her wrist and asked her "look at me."
He almost wished he hadn't asked her to do it because what he saw in those eyes were the tears of betrayal and grief.
P. S I know I haven't depicted the newly married couple scenario but I'll love explore this area some day, looking forward to your input!
Also as far as Adi is concerned while shagun fell sick, well I just prefer to ignore his existence and I request you to do the same in my stories :)
