brilliant.. how you portrayed Raman's point of view and his turmoil- it is amazing. Even though i don't want to see more of Shagun in the show i wish they would show this in the serial. We are all the byproducts of whatever happened in the past and the past is important and same thing with Raman and Ishita and you have given it the consideration that it deserves.
can't wait to read the next parts.

Really Aani... your disclaimer about spoilers made me wait for a day to read this? seriously, I should have been able to enjoy this as soon as it was written, my friend.

You know Raman is my muse too... Every word you wrote rang true... Our Ramans seem to be merging 😆

I could live through his pain with him. It was that descriptive and heart-wrenching. I like sombre, so I LOVE this part!!!

Please do accept my sincerest apologies, I am having an exceptionally busy time at work this afternoon, and cannot write more.

I really did not want to wait one more day to post my comments on this piece of art of yours!!!👏

Hey Lucky thanks for this comment so sorry I couldn't reply earlier have had a crazy week myself 🥱

@bold - 😆 he is the muse of every writer on this forum, though I would say this the one writer whose Raman I can actually relate to most on this forum is yours, I find him an on-paper version of what we see on screen so thank you for saying you think our Ramans are merging it means a lot to me 😃

This is going to be a slow burning fire for us readers 😉 You are so skillfully peeling the layers one at a time. GREAT background-building

This chapter is like the abridged pre-quel to YHM. I had this idea a couple of months ago to write a pre-quel SS, but never got the time 😒 sorry, went off-track.😆

I like that you have written about her first gift from Ashok, the subsequent relationship decline between Raman and Shagun, the greed, the unplanned sex, the unwanted pregnancy (well, at least for Shagun) and her final betrayal of poisoning their son against him. Somehow, I imagine you will give us the exact detailed description of Ishita's background too. and all these individual things that you wrote about in both their backgrounds will end up meeting conceptually. Am i making sense?😕

The most interesting aspect of your story is Shagun wanting to abort her second child. Wow, if I had to analyse Ruhi and Shagun's relationship in this light, I could write a book. And I guess there are some best-sellers already!!! Again, somehow this point about a child who is unwanted by one but coveted by the other is something that I think you are going to exploit in your story... yes, I think i m making sense 😆

I have had a long day Aani, but I had to read this one tonight. Still have Isha's OS left, not to mention the hangover of today's episode... sorry about the excuses, but this is why I cannot put more words to paper tonight. I am sorry my friend.

Here you go... it was really difficult to match the ones you put up this time, took me time. but something tells me you'll like this one 😉

"Shattered legs may heal in time, but some betrayals fester and poison the soul."
- George R.R. Martin

Hey once again 😛😆

@bold - thank you I just hope you like where I am taking this 😳

@blue - really? oh you totally should write it Lucky if you find the time and have something on your mind I would love to read it and so would your other fans/friends on this forum 😊 the basic motive for these chapters was to highlight why Raman became so pessimistic towards life and people in general, during holi he said to Shagun he failed to see things clearly when he was with her because he was a bespectacled man who viewed the world through those rose-tinted glasses, but now they are off. But the truth is those glasses may be gone, but now he has blinders on which only makes him notice what he wants to see, discarding the rest and when you have tunnel vision, you obviously miss out the bigger picture, which in retrospect is just as damaging as is a view through rose-tinted glasses.

The only difference is - an optimist has glasses on, a pessimist blinders 😳

@pink - okay a heads up without revealing anything... its not exactly what I have in mind, like I said Raman has to realize things. Emphasis on realization, knowing and realizing are two different things 😉

@purple - I find the dynamics of Shagun' maternal side interesting - she obviously pampers her son silly, has him spoilt frankly but her daughter is a stranger to her, and it isnt because she is biased with her children out of some stupid gender issues, but because she never connected with Ruhi which inspired this BG in my mind for her. Ishita obviously loves Ruhi more than her own mom, but this SS isnt going there 😳 Its IshRa based 😳

Thanks once again for the comment and the quote Ooo I love Martin thanks for this one, you just pleased a huge GOT fan 😎😃

Hey Parul thank you 😃

You are always good with details and the words just flow through, but what I enjoyed the most here is Raman's recollection of his life with Shagun. Am delighted that you wrote about this (might have missed any other OS/SS where this was detailed but as of now, this is the one which focused on his past life with Shagun in detail).

I am an Aamir Khan fan so details are my thing 😆 jokes apart, I believe its important to know a man' roots somehow and this BG was written for Raman to make out why has he become so faithless with the world, I am clueless like you if any other writer on the forum has written on them, but would love to read it nonetheless, there is a lot of scope for things going bad too. And sadly I am not inspired by them enough to focus primarily on them, but Shagun does help me in her own ways from time to time 😳

His life couldn't have turned upside down immediately, after all the guy had 2 kids with Shagun. The small details which he saw but chose to ignore for the happiness of his wife and the people around him is written really well. He was innocent yes, but also a family man and thus chose to do anything and everything for his family. The hurt which he must have felt when Shagun left him despite all of this, must be astounding.

Yep, exactly no marriage just falls apart like that. Its like a slow poison is at work for it to finally kill. especially when kids are involved, most of the times its the woman who is shown as adjusting, here its the man who did it, because he was that simple and loving and for his kids obviously but well things meant to fall apart do. And when they happen with someone like Raman, who obviously is very invested in his relationships it tends to rock his very foundation.

About the show -- I have missed a few initial episodes of YHM and the few snippets they showed of his life with Shagun clearly showed how the man was never valued or respected by Shagun (the kitchen hand burn scene especially tells a lot). The Raman of today clearly sees this difference between Ishita and Shagun in terms of the respect and value he received in each marriage.

I too have not seen much of the show initially I joined around the marriage track of IshRa but like you said the kitchen scene showed how undermined he felt, how it was a very demeaning relationship to him. Living with Ishita, seeing who she is has obviously altered his perception of her drastically. Now he respects her, values her and appreciates her when before he could barely stand her, considered her a gold-digger just because she is a woman like his wife. Now that he has seen the difference between the women, I hope he someday realizes and learns how similar his and Ishita' stories and fates are. 😳

Am really sorry to bring up the show in my comment 😳 ... but this track in your latest update is something that I have been curious about in the show as well :)

No problem glad I could work out something on the lines 😊

Can't wait for the next part ⭐️

Coming up in a while! 😊

This chapter has one question that has been on my mind since I saw the Raman Shagun was married to. Shagun knows she is beautiful and is vain because of it. She is also a very calculating woman. She must have had dreams of getting married to a rich guy who can give her everything she wants and make her happy. And when a person is so beautiful, I don't think it is such a big task to get a well settled guy as I have seen it happen in real life. Then, what on earth made Shagun agree to marry this dorky looking guy?
I think you aptly described Raman's situation in all those years he was married to Shagun as if you were an eyewitness.😃😉

Hey Sneha thanks 😊

@bold - 😆 this... well I hope you realize where I am going with the further chapters, basically though I can tell you this, sometimes things blind us - they may not necessarily all shiny and good though, You can be blinded lost in the dark too 😉😳

@red - I think from my POV, Raman though a dorky guy at the time must have been a good candidate for Shagun perhaps because she came from a very humble background, Not to forget they were married off young, at 32 Raman is a father to a 11 year old after all. So their parents must have been involved and perhaps even if she had high dreams and hopes, Shagun had to compromise because of monetary reasons. Yes she is beautiful and could have scored a rich guy but ... its also a truth sadly, a marriage isnt just about the couple but their families coming together too. And if Shagun really was from a home that had a hand to mouth existence why would a rich family go for a match like that without any ulterior motive when there can be other beautiful girls for their sons who come from similar BGs for them.

not to forget Raman' family has never been shown greedy - and dowry is a huge issue that still exists and persists as a practice, they would have just wanted Shagun and that would have been the best scenario for Shagun and her family

@blue - thank you, I hope to god I am never a witness to someone' tragedy of this sort but somehow once I got thinking things just came to me 😳
