0.03"Who the hell was that?"
Her eyebrows seemed to furrow deeper, as she watched his retreating back. In her peripheral vision, she could see the crowd of the school, standing on either side of the path he had dared to burn, whispering to each other.
Huffing, she turned her nose up, "Who cares! He's just another attention seeker," a smirk slipping onto her lips as she turned to face her group, while shaking her head and rolling her eyes at the sheer silliness of it.
The rest of the day went uneventfully, with just the regular dose of her friends messing with the bookworms and plump bums around the school. No Laurel. No Mysterious Guy. No pressure.
Her school bus was standing right there, in its usual spot. She looked around, before pulling out her hoodie and rushing to the washroom. By now, all of her friends must've left for home in their respective automobiles, promising to meet up for a party the same evening.
Pulling open the door, she tugged her sling bag tighter to her hip and adjusted the hood over her head, before walking out the big doors of her school building. Her hands rubbed the closed zipper of her hoodie up and down, as her legs cautiously stepped further away from the building and nearer to the school's means of transportation.
Walking through the shadows wasn't easy, since she kept on darting her eyes here and there, keeping watch for anyone who'd recognise her or call out to her. She felt something hit her sternum, making stumble half a step in pain.
Cursing hoarsely, she looked up to see Laurel, the redhead, staring at her with horrified eyes and her lips chanting an apology.
"Laurel?" She made the mistake of calling her by her name, which sparked a recognition in those eyes. She clamped her mouth shut when she heard her say her name in disbelief.
Feeling her trying to get a better look at her face, she looked away.
"What--"
"If you speak of this to anyone, I'll make sure to make your life a living hell!" she hissed at the shocked redhead, who licked her lips, while blinking, before bowing her head and turning on her heel.
"Wait!" she called out, before ducking her head, afraid she might've gained a bit of attention. Grabbing a bone-y elbow, she stopped Laurel and turned her, frowning hard.
"Like really?! Rather than talking to me straight, you sent your boyfriend to threaten me?" Accusation dripped in her voice.
Those eyes had gone wide. "T-threaten? I-I don't--"
"Don't you dare deny it! I know it was you. You're such a coward!"
Laurel bit hard on her lower lip, leaning a bit away from Krissan's angry face.
"I really don't know what you're talking about, Krissan," she pleaded, shaking her head.
"Oh come on! Seriously? Where is he, your boyfriend?"
"I don't have a boyfriend," came her quiet answer, laced with urgency and panic.
"Then who is he? Your brother?" looking her up and down, scowling.
The resounding horn of a bus, managed to distract Krissan, making her drop the tight grip she had on Laurel's skinny elbow. Setting her jaw, "I'm watching you," before sprinting off.
