Preet still isn't Raj's legal wife after two marriages. I see a third coming.

Nope. Any marriage happening in Hindi serial changes its legal status conveniently. In Sasural Simar Ka, Roli and Prem got married, but then Simar came and took her place after most of the rituals got over. So technically when the marriage certificate was made Simar must have signed it. But they showed Roli and Prem getting a divorce so that Prem could marry Simar.

Marriage certificate doesn't hold any importance. Who took the seven rounds around the fire is what matters in Hindi serials.

According to the Hindu Marriage Act, that was passed by the government of India, a marriage is legal if it has 4 eye witnesses besides the bride and the groom.
So legally, RajPreet's first wedding cannot be considered legal. But the second one is.
In future, if they want to obtain a wedding certificate, they just have to show pictures of their wedding and sign a document. Or bring four people who were witnesses to the wedding.
Obtaining a document for their wedding would not be a problem because it was witnessed by a police inspector.
But one needs to do this only if one is applying for a passport. The marriage itself is considered legal even without the certificate, because it was performed according to the Hindu religion with so many eye witnesses.

According to this Act, Simi's marriage with Chander won't be considered legal because Simi's mind isn't sound. The Panchayat of Gaguwal are all idiotic illiterates.

Yes, I know it's allowed in the Muslim community. But, Queen, did your grandmother have children from another man when she was legally married to her first husband? As in, she had two legal husbands at the same point in time?

Emperor Ashoka was a Hindu by birth, but later on he took to Buddhism.

Wow, it's so different in India. Over here, you must register your marriage to make it legal.
No, a woman can't have two husbands at once. My grandfather married her after she was widowed.
Yeah, I know he converted to Buddhism. But I'm talking about his father who I thought was a Jain rather than a Hindu.

I know that's how it's in the western countries. But the problem in India is that we have so many religions and then the literacy level is also low. Here it's difficult to convince people to register the birth of their children, let alone marriages.
If they bring a law that marriages need to be registered to be legal, it'll only cause problems.

Lol All guys are going to be Rajpreet lawyers for sure , All know everything about the law but in India the biggest problem is with tv Serial is they just messed the whole laws and regulations. I feel gaguwal panchayat needs replacement because all have become old daddu now we want educated people who can run the panchayat..in India illitrate people have reputation nor they have mind ..I seriously don't know why Preet doesn't question about her studies , and if she wants to be sarpanch she needs qualifications otherwise how will teach other when you don't Know anything.. education is the only source through which we can empower girl child..

Here we go again. Education isn't the only way to empower a girl. You're very naive if you believe so. I've got friends who don't have qualifications but they're working hard and earning money via respectable work.
Plus who said Preet wants education or the Sarpanch seat? She even gave her seat as Shah to Jagan because she didn't want to rule her sexist clansmen. Let's see what she wants first.

Wow Harsha I didn't know that. But at what point is it that you are irreversibly married? Because even filling someone's mang is marriage according to Hindi soaps.

The Panchayat is obviously illiterate. But they all are Bade Bajurg who are supposed to be very very very smart and supposedly have all the required knowledge and experiences..
