Part 18
Chakor looked at Suraj as he walked back and forth in their living room.
Chakor : What is the problem with my plan, Suraj?
He stopped, turned to face his wife.
Suraj : You know I'll never put your life at risk, Chakor. What you're suggesting us to do will jeopardize you and that's one thing I'll never compromise. We'll think about a different plan.
He was determined not to move forward with what Chakor has suggested. To him, keeping her safe and sound has been his utmost priority. Seeing her suffer will rip his soul out of his body. As confused as he looked, Chakor knew all he needed is a reassurance that everything will be alright. With that thought in mind, she inched closer to him and held him from his back. Suraj didn't expect it and that made an electrifying sensation throughout his nerves.
Chakor : I know you're worried about me, but listen, if we don't do this, we may never get Ranvijay on our terms. We may never know what he'll do next and that is more devastating.
Suraj took hold of her hands and swung her infront of him, so that he could face her.
Suraj : You don't get it, Chakor. I have known RV all my life. He may have hidden agendas but I don't think you are the only reason for him to behave this way. There is more to this; more to what Imli might not have known.
Chakor : More to this? What do you mean?
Suraj : What I mean is, I don't think RV is doing all this just to get you. I think there is something else.
Chakor : (Confused) Like what?
Suraj : That's what we need to figure out.
Chakor : But... but, Imli said he loves me and all he wanted was to get her married to you and I end up being his. Do you think she lied to us?
Chakor looked indomitable. Suraj started to make sense to her now. Why would someone risk their whole life just to get a woman? That too for a one-sided love? Endangering a friendship that was built since small? Suraj looked disappointed with whatever he had in his mind.
Suraj : I was taken for a ride by these siblings, Chakor. I don't know what to believe anymore.
He let go of her hands and walked towards the recliner to rest his body. He was exhausted with everything and he needed comfort; he needed rest but he was afraid that if he rests, RV might come in and take his wife away from him. He sure has their bodyguards around but now that he is with Chakor, he wanted to stay close to her; he wanted to embrace her; he wanted to inhale her sweet scent that seduces him even from a distance; he just wanted to sleep peacefully tonight, for this one night. Chakor could feel the agony Suraj was feeling. She too underwent the same pain without seeing him for more than two weeks. She wanted to comfort him and that's all she did.
Chakor : Suraj...
Suraj : Emmm... yes, Chakor...
Chakor: Can I ask you something?
He turned to look at her innocent complexion. The intensity in her eyes made him curious.
Suraj : Anything...
Chakor : Please trust me this once. My plan will work. Besides, our guards will be around me, in mufti... and... and (she points her bracelet to him) I'll be wearing this 24 hours a day. You'll know my whereabouts if anything goes wrong.
As she finished the sentences, Suraj reached her and hugged her tight. She reciprocated as she needed that warmth too.
Suraj : Don't ever say that, Chakor. I would never let anything happen to you.
Chakor : (Breaking the hug and looked at him teasingly) Tell me something, Suraj, why do you care about me so much? You see, we are just in the trial stage of our marriage... ermmm... and...
Suraj : And... what?
Chakor : Well... since you have never said anything to convince me that there is something going on between us, I was just wondering why do you care about me so much. (She smirked)
Suraj : (Pulling her close yet again) That coming from a woman who just French kissed me in front our enemy seems awkward, isn't it?
He arched his eyebrows, intentionally bantering her and Chakor's face turned crimson. The steamy sensation of their kiss a few hours ago made her tremble in his arms. Seeing her weak in his embrace convinced him even more that she shares the same feelings as his. With his right index finger, he lifted her chin, leading her eyes to meet his.
Suraj : Are you blushing, baby? (He mocked)
Chakor pushed him away with a strong pinch on his abdomen as he let out a soft groan.
Suraj : Ouch!!! "Jungli billi"! (Rubbing his abdomen)
Chakor : Dear "Pakhandi", I kissed you because I wanted Imli to burn with envy. That being the only reason, I have no other reason to kiss you there. So, please don't think you have any chance with me.
Chakor looked snobbish with her answer which clearly didn't affect Suraj, even a little bit. He stepped away from her, without breaking their eye lock.
Suraj : If you say so, "Jungli billi"... But I liked it. Maybe we should visit Imli often. (He winked)
Chakor : In your dreams, Suraj Rajvanshi! I might break her throat if I see her again.
Her response made him laugh out loud.
Chakor: So, answer me. Why do you care?
Suraj held her palms, placed both of it at the back of his neck, gesturing her to massage it.
Suraj : I will answer that after we have that scoundrel RV in custody, baby. Now, let's sleep. I will tell you what my plan's going to be tomorrow morning.
Chakor : Yes, sleep sounds good... and I'm sure you'll agree to my plan.
Chakor smiled at him before leading her steps towards the staircase. Suraj rushed towards her and stood infront her, blocking her way.
Suraj : Chakor, if you don't mind, can I sleep with you tonight?
Chakor's eyes widened with his request. Before she could respond, Suraj continued.
Suraj : I mean... don't get me wrong... What I mean is... I want to stay in the same room with you, just to make me feel that you are around me... safe... I can sleep on the ground, on your fluffy carpet... Please...
That was exactly what she needed and Suraj asking for it made her feel exultant. He is the only one who could make her feel safe and loved and she would never miss a chance to get close to him.
Chakor : I'd like that idea...but...we can share the bed, Suraj. You don't have to sleep on the floor, on my carpet, all alone. I have faith in you. Even if you attempt something, I can break your nose anytime. (She grinned)
Suraj : (Touching his nose and reminiscing the moment when she almost broke his nose in the office elevator) "Jungli billi".
(He murmured)
And they both ended up sleeping together, on the same bed, next to each other, feeling safe and sound knowing that they are not alone.

The next morning, Suraj was not beside her when Chakor woke up. Worried, she started calling out his name with tears in her eyes.
Chakor : Suraj! Suraj! Where are you?!
Suraj, who was in their living room with Shikoo and Karan, panicked listening to her scream and rushed upstairs. Shikoo and Karan followed closely behind.
Suraj : What happened, Chakor? I'm right here. (He sat next to her and hugged her)
Chakor : Suraj! I thought you left, again! Don't leave me ever again! Promise me! (She extended her right pinky finger and signaled him to make a deal, with tears still welled up in her eyes)
Suraj used his thumbs to wipe her tears and placed soft, warm kisses on both eye lids. He then entwined his right pinky finger with hers.
Suraj : Pinky promise... I will never leave you, not even in your dreams; not even when you force me to leave.
His words made her giggle and that was all he needed to see to carry on with his day.
Suraj : Listen, Chakor, I have already made up my mind about the plan and briefed Shikoo and Karan about it. Please get ready because we have somewhere to be. I will brief you the plan on our way there.
Chakor : You sound serious. Are you planning to murder me?
Suraj : (Chuckled) Seriously, Chakor?
Chakor : Just asking. So?
Suraj : So... nothing... Just get ready... I will send the breakfast to your room and I'll be downstairs, with our team to run through the plan before we execute it. Just so you know, we are going to implement your plan with slight modification just to keep you secured.
Chakor : (Smiling) I know you'll accept my idea. See you in a while.

Suraj stood in his office meeting room, infront of a large crowd of press members from renowned mass media in the country. Each and every one of them were curious to know what the young business tycoon has to say as it has been quite long since he made his public appearance. Chakor sat in one of the sofas placed behind him, sobbing. After the room is full with expected guests, Karan led the discussion.
Karan : Good morning, everyone. I am Karan Oberoi, the attorney associated with the Rajvanshis. I am pretty sure every one of you are wondering why we called for a press conference all of the sudden. To be precise, this meeting was planned a few days back but Mr. and Mrs. Rajvanshi are convenient only today to make the statement.
The crowd started murmuring.
Karan : Without further ado, let me call upon Mr. Suraj Rajvanshi to continue.
Suraj walked straight to where the mikes were and cleared his throat before saying anything. He turned and looked at Chakor to seek her confirmation before proceeding. Looking at Suraj's anxious face, Chakor nodded to reassure him to carry on.
Suraj : (Clearing his throat once again) Good morning to all the respected members of the press. I will just make it short. I guess everyone is well aware about the divorce proceedings between me and Mrs. Chakor Rajvanshi. Although the court has granted us six months as remedial period, both of us have decided that it's not worth it to spend our time with one another when we clearly don't wish to be together. Therefore, I am here to make a public statement regarding Mrs. Chakor Rajvanshi's status in Rajvanshi Steel Works and any business dealings related to it. From now on, Mrs. Chakor Rajvanshi will no longer be attached to Rajvanshi Steel Works and is liberated from being a part of my life. We will wait for the official verdict from the court but in the meantime, I want to make it clear to all my business partners and acquaintances regarding this. This is to make sure that Mrs. Chakor Rajvanshi here doesn't make any attempts to hijack' the business which was built by my father.
As he was speaking, Chakor stood up from her seat and started yelling. The press looked very much delighted with the coverage.
Chakor : Hijack the business built by your father?! Are you kidding me, Suraj? I have the rights to own this business as much as you do.
Suraj : Chakor, calm down. We have media here.
Chakor : To hell with the media! I don't want to stay married to you as much as you don't want to but this business is my life. I will not let it go without a fight.
Chakor pushed the mikes on the floor and furiously ran out of the meeting room, towards the office elevator. Suraj excused himself and rushed after her. Karan and Shikoo took control of the whole situation as the room started to get noisy with multiple questions from the press members. As the elevator door opened, Chakor stepped into it with Suraj following her closely and grabbed her hand. From the meeting room, the photographers snapped pictures of Suraj and Chakor, which seemed to look like they were having a muted argument. Before anybody could listen to what they were saying, the elevator door closed and Suraj and Chakor exhaled in relief.
Chakor : Do you think they believed whatever we said?
Suraj : I hope so but it's not them I'm worried about. I want RV to believe it and make his move.
Chakor : We will know that soon. We need to be extra alert from now on. You can't be seen with me.
Suraj : Yes, that's the tough part but please make sure you follow our plan. Don't go missing without informing me and don't lose the bracelet.
Chakor : I won't.
As they were talking, the elevator was about to reach the ground floor and Suraj impulsively grabbed Chakor by her waist and embraced her. Perhaps he needed that hug to keep him strong; perhaps he needed that hug to ensure that Chakor feels safe; perhaps he needed that hug to make him work harder to catch RV. Noticing the doors about to open and not to ruin their plan, Chakor pushed Suraj away and stomped on his left foot, yelling "I hate you! You'll pay for this, Suraj Rajvanshi!" before exiting.

Is RV having a different agenda as doubted by Suraj?
Will it be fatal for Chakor to be away from Suraj?
Who will RV meet first: Suraj or Chakor?
