Life was never easy for Chakor Bhuvan Lal since her parents passed away. Being an orphan at a very young age, the only people who took her into their family were the Rajvanshis'. Kamal and Tejaswini Rajvanshi always wanted a daughter but they were never blessed with one until they met Chakor. She was their neighbor's daughter but the Lals' and Rajvanshis' were more than neighbors. While the elders are best of friends, their offsprings, Chakor Bhuvan Lal and Suraj Rajvanshi, never see things eye to eye. Suraj is a dutiful son; he respects his parents and tries his level best to make them proud. Chakor has always been his competitor when it comes to examinations and competitions in school and she always outsmarts him in every way possible. When Bhuvan and Kasturi met a tragic accident and passed away, Tejaswini knew that she had to take Chakor into her home. Not knowing what is right or wrong at that age, Chakor became close to the Rajvanshis' as Kamal Narayan always compares her achievements to his son, Suraj. This was never liked by Suraj as he finds it unfair for his parents to love Chakor who is not their flesh and blood. He hated her for getting all the attention. He hated her for being the smart one. He hated her for being in his life. He hated her for making his parents love her. This hatred reached its peak when Tejaswini decided to make Chakor her daughter in law. Reluctant in heart, Suraj was forced to accept this because to him, his mother's contentment is the utmost importance. He thought Chakor would decline this alliance since she disliked him but to his dismay, she didn't say anything against Tejaswini's wish. They got married and moved out of the Rajvanshi mansion into a new house gifted by Kamal Narayan. Just when Chakor thought Suraj would finally accept her, her life took a drastic turn when Suraj introduced Imli to Chakor as the love of his life. What is in store for Chakor and Suraj? Are they destined to be together? Or fate has a different plan for both of them?
Chakor watched the man who was talking to his staff with an empty thought; the man who had been her husband for almost three years. Chakor sighed heavily. Though they are husband and wife in the eyes of the world, in between the walls of their house, they are strangers. Since childhood, they were neighbors. They attended the same school and same class, eventually studying at the same university and courses.
Chakor did not know where to start her story. As she remembered, their families were quite close, but Chakor's parents died when she was still in school. Her age was only twelve when she was betrothed to Suraj. Since then, Chakor and Suraj have been hostile to one another. Chakor thinks that Suraj hates her because she entered his life without his permission. Suraj's parents love Chakor dearly and they don't have the heart to get Chakor married to someone else. Therefore, Suraj was not given a choice by them to choose his bride as Chakor was fixed in his destiny by his parents. Being an obedient son, he agreed to them although he knew that he could never love someone he hates. Yes, he hates Chakor; he hates her for being in his life since childhood; he hates her for taking away his freedom; he hates her for being the smarter one; he hates her for being the apple of his parents' eyes.
Chakor and Suraj never talked to each other since childhood. Even if they talk about something, it will always end up in a quarrel. Just in front of Suraj's parents, they behave like an affectionate couple but when they are alone at their house, they spend time with gadgets rather than themselves.
Chakor sighed again. Her chest was tight with thousand questions. Suraj has tested her patience a lot, ever since they were married. He never tried to speak to her in a soft tone. He never tried to understand how lonely she was feeling in this forced relationship. She married him as she felt that she is obliged to the Rajvanshis' for taking care of her and giving her shelter when she had no one. Her parents left her with nothing but a house. She never felt the warmth of her relatives as they were against her parents for getting married due to caste issues. She was all alone as a child, and now, she is all alone as a wife.
"Chakor, let's go!'' Chakor looked up as she hears that voice. Gauri reminded Chakor that it is lunchtime. Chakor rubs the watch on her wrist. It is indeed their lunch time. Chakor did not realize it because she had too many concerns in her mind till the sound of her empty stomach didn't ring her bell. The tangles in her life seem too impossible to untangle. Chakor gets up from her desk and reaches her purse. While walking towards the exit, Chakor couldn't help but notice Suraj who was busy talking to Imli. He looks very happy whenever he is with Imli. Chakor wondered why he married her if he is so much contented with Imli. He could have just told his father, Kamal Narayan Rajvanshi, that he is in love with Imli. He could have stopped this marriage from happening but no, he did not utter a word in denial when his parents told him that Chakor is his bride.
"I'm surprised; Suraj is still being with Imli even after you both are married. He can just end it with her or end your marriage to get into a legitimate relationship with Imli. What do you think, Chakor? You have never been happy in these three years of marriage. How long are you planning to continue this drama full of tragedy? Don't you think you deserve happiness too? Don't you think you deserve to be loved too?'' Gauri expressed her thoughts in a slow voice. Chakor sighed heavily. Her heart seemed to be stabbed with poisonous spleen; it felt very sore and so painful. She knew she made a mistake by marrying Suraj. She knew that both of them deserve to find their one true love. Her love and respect for the senior Rajvanshis' is not doing her any good as their son is not in love with her or giving her a chance in this marriage.
"I'm not surprised to see both of them together, Gauri, I'm just puzzled about my fate, why is my destiny written in such way that I could never find happiness? Since I was a kid, I have known him and now we are even working in the same organization but we never got the chance to be close to one another. Whenever I try to get close to him, he somehow slips away without even trying to have a conversation with me. I feel lonely, Gauri, even when I am married, Chakor added and tears start to shower her pink cheeks.
Gauri, being Chakor's best friend, couldn't see her best friend cry. 'Wait a minute, why are you crying, Chakor? That too for a guy who doesn't appreciate you? Gauri was surprised to see Chakor crying for a guy who never treated her right.
"Let's ask for a transfer, away from here. We will go far from here, you don't have to see Suraj or Imli's face anymore, Gauri tried to persuade Chakor. Chakor knows that Gauri is the only person in this world who loves her genuinely beside the senior Rajvanshis'. Chakor understood that she cannot continue this pretense any longer as it is killing her inside. She is determined to confront Kamal Narayan and Tejaswini Rajvanshi to express her feelings about her marriage life. If they really love her, they would set her free. If they really love their son, they would emancipate him from this fake marriage and let him be with the woman he loves, Imli.
