Are Turkish dramas slowly becoming like Indian dramas?

I am currently watching the older Turkish shows as those are of great quality. But the newer Turkish shows are basically European version of Hindi dramas. The episodes are long, the storyline keeps dragging and the same old love triangle tactics. There will also be the mother-in-law issue and the pregnancy drama too like side chick getting pregnant and all. I had high expectations from Turkish dramas, old ones are really class and OG, but new ones are not good.

It’s sad to see them turn like Indian dramas. I expected more.

How about a little less romance and more action? 😁

To be frank I never watched Turkish dramas. But when my Indian friends started praising them, I thought, may be the content is close to Indian dramas. It looks like my hunch was correct.smiley1

Cheers..

I am watching Kizil Goncalar and Uzak Sehir. Uzak Sehir is a remake of the Arabic series Al Hayba. It is good. Mostly the acting by lead actors.

Kizil Goncalar has interesting story. But it is now ending with season 2 so they are trying to wrap it up. Season 1 was very good. Acting and script was excellent.

Actors playing Cuneyd and Zeynep are the ones making the series popular.

I think it will depend on the show, production and channel. Some of those daily turkish shows are more like that but the more expensive shows with famous cast is not going to cater to those kinds of stories. Problem these days with dizis is the writers either have some bias against certain character so they mess up the story, cater towards the ratings which as a system is very skewed in turkey like it needs to be revamped its a mess. Also many dizi's are remakes of international shows from korea or arab shows. The top dizis right now are so different from eo uzak sehir is a lebanese show remake about a widow forced to marry her brother in law and all the family drama, cranberry sherbet show started as a show about two different families one very secular and modern and other a conservative one clashing once the kids get married but its like a soap opera ppl divorcing, cheating, scandals lol also historical shows are popular too lol itv shows fans wouldn't be able to handle the drama in dizis lol

I keep up with uzak sehir, the story is very simple but engaging and my fav are alya and nare.

KG i know what is going with the show but never really got into it. The story was interesting but I didn't like the whole underage zeynep getting shipped with cuneyd coz even in real life the actress is a teen. I heard they wanted only two seasons for the story to be show properly.

Not familiar with Turkish shows but I'm pretty sure nothing can beat the melodrama and sheer stupidity shown in Indian tv serials ever 😂

Yes. I don't think they are 'becoming' like Indian dramas. They 'are' the international version of Indian dramassmiley37. I watched. Unless it's a summer special drama which is wrapped within limited episodes, they drag the stories a lot. The last time I tried a turkish drama was Yabani and gosh! What a ruin! I never found any other turkish drama after that which was actually worth watching. Most of them have a good start and then the trash comes up just like ITV
