Chapter 22

Uma and Kanak arrived at house. Saras opened the door and welcomed them. Uma introduced saras to Kanak. Maasa and Massisa arrived Uma introduced them as well. Uma signalled Kanak to touch their feet. Kanak did. Maasa blessed her and said you are really very beautiful. Uma nice choice. Maasa offered her seat. Massisa conducted her interview and started asking questions.

Massisa : Since when do you know each other.

Kanak: almost 10 months

Massisa : and in this 10 months you have made your mind to marry him

Kanak : when you are with a right person 10 minutes are more than enough to make your mind I have still taken a long time.

Massisa : What if you regret after marriage whom do you blame.

Kanak : I will not blame anyone because he is my choice and my decision so how could someone else will be responsible

Massisa : Uma told that you belong to a well to do family so what are your future plans career or family

Kanak : both I will not sacrifice something for other being a woman we are specialized in multi tasking so why not for both.

Massisa : Do you know cooking

Kanak : Yes I do in hostel sometimes I use to cook

Massisa : What do you think God exists

Kanak : it's exits in your belief everything exists in world if you believe it.

Massisa said I am done she has managed to give answer to all my questions she is a bright girl. Perfect combination of beauty and brains. Maasa said if everything is okay so not an issue it's done. Maasa blessed them both and gave her bangles. Massisa also blessed them and saras congratulated both. Massisa asked Uma said you want to wait till your graduation. Kanak said yes my uncle is very much bothered about it so want to wait. Massisa asked Uma do you want to wait. Uma said no I mean yes I mean. Massisa laughed and said we have interview a wrong person I am quite sure Uma would have failed look he is sweating.

Uma said if everything is done can I take her outside we have some plans. Massisa said yes of course she is all yours. Uma and Kanak left from there. Outside of house Uma have a sign of relief. Kanak laughed and said you were so nervous. Uma hugged her and said I don't want to lose you and there Massisa was asking so many things I was thinking what if you don't answer it. Kanak said she was testing me as she wants best for you. Uma said thank God now everything is fine. We made it. He hugged her again. Saras called and said Maasa was asking you will be coming for dinner. Uma said no I will not and tell Maasa I will be late I have some important work. Saras said okay bye.

Uma and Kanak visited a restaurant for dinner after that Uma dropped her to her house. Uma said should I leave. Kanak said yes. Uma said really you want me to go don't want to stay back. Kanak said yes . Uma said okay as your wish you know I will not go against it so then bye. Uma was leaving Kanak called her from behind and said if you want you can stay here uncle has left and will be back tomorrow morning. Uma took her in his arms and take her inside she guided him to her room. He put her on bed and removed his shirt. Kanak looked at the bullet mark on his chest. He asked what happened. She pointed the mark. Uma laid next to her and said this is my life which is unpredictable sometimes I may not return to house even for months and sometimes there will be threatening calls and sometimes this. Maybe in future I may not live longer. She kissed him and said don't say like that. He kissed her back and said but it's true this is my life and I have chosen it so I don't regret anything. Will you still be part of my life. She said yes and I have chosen you and I will not regret it either. I will never tell you to leave something which you want but just be a little careful I will not be able to survive without you. He said I will and kissed her. They made love again but was interrupted by a knock. Kanak said I will take care you just relax and hold your breath. She put on her gown and opened the door it was sonal.

Kanak asked sonal at this hour everything is fine. She said yes it's fine and I am sorry for disturbing both of you but your uncle is frantically calling you and you are not picking up so he called me. I have informed him that you will call by sometime so just call him. Kanak went back and searched her phone it was 20 missed calls from uncle. She called back and asked what happened. Mahesh said it's yamini again she is spreading rumors that you are going to marry her brother so I was tensed I will be there morning just call Uma as well. Before this rumor take root I know what to do. She said okay I will do that.

Uma asked what happened she said uncle wants to meet you urgently don't know why. He said okay maybe he is on the way to back home I will leave and come back tomorrow morning. She was tensed. Uma cupped her face and said as long as we are together nothing can be wrong. Okay she said yes. He kissed her and left.

Next morning Mahesh was waiting and Uma arrived. Mahesh said I am tired of yamini she is the limit she is telling everyone that you are going to marry her brother. Kanak asked but why . Mahesh said simple people know that you will inherit your property and she is taking money on your behalf. Kanak said what we can do. Mahesh said I have an idea let's do an engagement after this you both will have a formal relationship and her lie would be out. Uma said I don't have a problem we can do this and the day has been decided for the ceremony .

Chapter 23

Mahesh talked to Maasa and Massisa about their engagement and they agreed all the preparations were done on time ved was also very happy for his friend. They exchanged rings and everyone enjoyed. Just than yamini entered the venue. Mahesh asked her why did she came here. She replied to congratulate the couple and she couldn't bring anything as her cards are block and her liability had been increased. So just accept her wishes. Kanak was wearing a green lehenga and some emerald jewellery. Yamini said wow you look beautiful so by cutting down my expenses this has bought. Mahesh angrily said she doesn't have to depend on your expenses infact you are depended on her if you have forgotten. She said I remember everything Mahesh no need to remind me but let me first meet the person because of whom my dreams are shattered. She came close to Toshiwal family and said I had laid a web for years so that this Golden goose would be mine now tell me how much planning you all have done. I mean I can't digest the fact that you are doing everything just for love you know in today's world love is worthless. Uma said love is not worthless but it's priceless and you will not understand this as you are yourself a product for sale you sell and buy things so don't take too much stress not good for you.

Yamini angrily said if I am a product so what you are you are also here for money you and your family both and let's accept the fact if she wouldn't be rich we would not be here right so before blaming to me just look at yourself. Uma said don't know about you but I am certainly not like you. Kanak just take her cheque book out and signed the amount of 5 lakh and give it to yamini and said you got your money now leave from here as your presence is disturbing us. She took the cheque and thanked her and once again congratulated them and left from the party. Uma's family felt insulted and they also left from there.

In the office commissioner was asking about there relationship Uma said yes sir it's true that I know her infact we were engaged and this pic is our engagement but on the engagement venue itself yamini insulted my family so they cancel the engagement but next day Mahesh came to our house to apologize on yamini's behalf and said yamini is a greedy and selfish women please don't spoil Kanak life because of her. Massisa said please don't say that infact Uma told us about yamini we were thinking that it's hard to spend 5 minutes with that lady God knows how you have spend life with her. And this engagement is still there so please don't worry . Mahesh had some relief and said I have a farmhouse in lonavala so we can spend weekend there with our families so we get to know better Uma what do you say after all if your family know us better it will strengthen our relationship. Uma said I don't have any problem and Maasa what about you. Maasa said no we don't have any problems we are ready.

Uma called ved and informed him about the plan but ved said you all enjoy I won't be able to come I have to prepare reports for our last case the court hearing is near and deadlines are passing so I won't be able to come. Uma said okay. Next morning they all reached to lonavala the arrangements were made for them. Kanak took care of everything she was there for every one and Mahesh was right it has strengthen their bond. Mahesh said that I am happy finally Kanak got her due happiness we all were one big family. Mahesh said if today her parents would be here so they would be very happy Kanak felt bad for a moment. At evening everyone was resting in their rooms. Uma was awake discussing about the case with ved suddenly he saw Kanak was going somewhere with a knife in her hand she was walking like she is not in her senses. Uma disconnected the call and followed her. Maasa and saras were sleeping together she was about to attack Maasa but Uma stopped her in the inch of time. Maasa and saras woke up Uma pushed Kanak aside . kanak gained consciousness and everyone came into the room. Maasa and saras were scared . Massisa said if Uma would not be here she would have killed both of you. Uma saw at Kanak.

Next morning Maasa was angry on Mahesh that he had lied about her he didn't tell them that she is insane. Mahesh said she is not insane just she get attacks and last night she was missing her parents may be that's why she got the attack. And Uma knows about it. Maasa asked Uma . Uma said yes I know about it but from last 10 months she was fine and Maasa this can be treated. Maasa said yes she can but I want a normal girl for my son tomorrow she can kill someone and why someone may be in our family and maybe you Uma . she can do it . Kanak said no I will never harm him and if my presence in his life endanger his life so it's better I should leave. She removed the bangles and returned it to Maasa and said I am sorry for all the trouble caused by me. She cried and left from there . Uma ran behind her and said you can't do this we will figure out something. Kanak said what to figure out you know that yesterday if you were not there what would have happened and Maasa is right I can harm to anyone I don't want that one day I wake up and you are lying dead next to me. Uma I can't be with you please leave me. She removed her engagement ring and gave it back to him. Uma said I tried to contact her but she had changed her number infact changed her college and we lost contact for past one year and it's a coincidence that we met here.

Commissioner listened and said that you know that she sleepwalk and can kill someone so why you have not prepared your report till now. Uma said that there are other angles in this case which I am studying and after that only I will prepare the report. Commissioner said that there are not any angles infact tomorrow she would be arrested back and if you don't prepare a report this case would be handover to other officers. Uma said that is not needed just give me tonight real killer would be caught. Commissioner said no infact you will not leave the police station tonight you may run away with her. Uma was kept under house arrest.

Chapter 23

Commissioner ordered Uma not to leave police station till morning and the next officer take over the case. Uma said please let me go today her life is in danger and the killer would be arrested by tonight itself you don't need to wait till morning just give me a chance. But the commissioner did not listen and also told the inspector to keep an eye on Uma. Ved arrived and said Uma I have the DNA report for the hair which we found on the seat and you will be shocked who is the person. Uma said I know but please get me out of here. Commissioner has put me in house arrest and I have to go. Ved do something. Ved asked but why he did so. Uma said he knows everything about me and Kanak and now thinks that I am trying to save her and cooking up this stories. But how should I explain to him. Ved said why don't you tell everything to him. Uma said I can't he will not believe me and I don't have time either. By 5 the maid will leave and after that anything can happen you know it takes just a minute to kill someone. Ved said just relax but you can't go till he is here we have to wait. Uma called to Kanak and said Kanak are you alone. She said yes . Uma said just listen don't open the door for anyone whoever it may be don't do it. I will be there by sometime and explain you everything. Kanak asked but what happened. He said please don't ask anything just follow what I am saying. She said okay.

It was 6:00 PM Uma was still waiting and the commissioner was doing some work. Ved said don't worry you have informed here and she will not open the door. He said no she will and I am afraid it will be in sometime now. The killer will wait till it dark and then will get into the house so no one see him and you don't know how her house is there is an open ground and no one lives there houses are far away. Around 6:30 PM commissioner left the room. Uma tried to leave but the inspector stopped him. He said you are not supposed to leave. Uma looked at watch it's 6:45 PM and it started to dark. Uma said he want to use washroom. Inspector granted him permission. He went inside and locked the door from inside and looked around there was a window above. He tried to reach the window. After sometime ved received a call on his mobile it was Uma. Uma said ved I am not in police station and I am sending you an SMS if I don't call you by next 30 minutes just reach to this place with police force. Ved said okay.

Uma reached to Kanak house and checked that the door was open though there were no signs of struggle. He called her name but no one answered. Suddenly some one attacked him from behind and he fell. When he opened his eyes he was tied to a chair and Kanak was sitting on the sofa with a gun on her head and Mahesh had kept her on gun point. Mahesh said welcome guys happy to see both the lovebirds. Uma said even I am happy to see you finally you are out and where is your partner. Mahesh said oh you know about her. Uma said yes of course infact I know she killed Rahul. Mahesh said wow really impressive so for you I call her . Darling please come out someone is calling you. She replied coming. Mahesh said meet my girlfriend Sonal. Kanak was shocked. Uma smiled I know no need for introduction.

Chapter 24

Uma smiled and said I know that no need for introduction and I know that maybe you befriended Kanak because Mahesh told you so that he can keep an eye on her. Mahesh said really appreciate your intelligence and I will not ask you how do you know because it will not matter as of you both will die. Kanak will be an accidental death and for you your body will not be found so next case for your department will be your search case and maybe it will take years don't know. Kanak said uncle please leave him I will do whatever you say but please let him go. Mahesh said I can't do that as he knows much and his life is dangerous for me. Sorry my child I can't fulfill your last wish. Uma said but you can fulfill my wish I just want to know it's clear that you killed Rahul . he was just a scapegoat for you but did you killed Kanak parents as well. Mahesh said so you want my confession but what for let me first check do you have any recorder or camera. He checked Uma but nothing was found he said now you are safe so yes I killed them. Kanak was again in shock. She said it's a nightmare it can't be true I am hallucinating. Sonal said you know you both make an odd couple for one there is no need to say anything he understand everything but for other everything is clear in front of her but she doesn't want to believe. Mahesh just explain her . Mahesh said my child it's true I have to. Kanak cried and asked but why for money if you would asked you would have get it infact if you would have said to me I would have given to you so why once you have not think that my father was your brother he was your family. Mahesh slapped her and said even your father never thought of me I used to beg for money but he doesn't listen.

Mahesh continued yes I had some bad habits like drinking lust for young girls but who does not have. And he had so much money he could have given to me but always he denied. One day I heard that he is giving everything to you on your birthday so I had to kill him before that infact I wanted to kill the whole family but your mom hided you somewhere and our house was so big that it took me a lot of time so I had to go back after all I had to call the police and ready an alibi for me. And my alibi was yamini. Poor lady she was drunk that night and she thought that whole night I was with her. So she given statement to police but to my surprise my brother had made a will a week before and now everything belongs to you legally. And there was a clause that if something happens to you so everything will go to charity. And if I murdered you so automatically I would be caught as I am the beneficiary after you. So I thought a different way. I married yamini I thought that the greedy women like her will surely kill you for money but she was a coward was satisfied for 5 lakh per month.

Uma said and your plan failed and you started your game plan you showed the world how much you love her and send her far away so that if something happens her there no one could blame you right. Mahesh said absolutely but time passed on and I met sonal and I told to befriend you so we can kill you when we get the chance. Because of this sonal was always there for you. Infact she use to give you drugs so that you sleep walk and hallucinate but we can't kill you from that drugs as well so post mortem reports will reveal the truth. See how stressed we were and one day Uma came to your life and you both fall in love I was the one to separate you I had given you drugs in lonavala so you go and kill his mother in hallucinations but my plan failed again and he saved his mother. But you both break up and you left him. But Kanak you lied you had told me that you will die without him but you were alive so no signs of committing suicide but at last God heard me and sent Rahul to your life.

Sonal continued yes Rahul harassed you so there were 2 options for us either he can kill you or you can kill him but that lusty dog wanted to spend a night with you so we made plan to kill him and frame you. You know why he use to touch you inappropriately I used to send him your private pictures and made a deal with him so that night he was waiting for you. We made you sleep take you to his house and planted you in his bedroom so when he was drunk and was about rape you I came there and killed him by knife. Kanak you should be thankful to me I saved you okay no problem than rest is the history I swapped our clothes and made you arrested. I thought either you will be given a capital punishment or eventually commit suicide but hard luck Uma was your investigating officer and he made up his mind that he will save you. So again back to square one we had to think other plan.

Kanak said is it over or there is more I am still listening that how my closed one betray me. Sonal said Kanak I swear you are a nice person and it's very difficult to find someone like you maybe I have to take a rebirth but 750 crores I can wait for that. Tears were rolling from Kanak's eyes. Uma said don't cry Kanak they don't worth your tears . Sonal offered her sleeping pills and said don't worry these are not poison but sleeping pills take it. Kanak denied Mahesh attacked Uma by knife. Kanak popped pills and fall asleep.
