The discussion has taken an interesting turn.. 😆
..I think it's best to say that no industry is free from human politics if not nepotism.. Just minor differences as to the instances of nepotism winning over fairness - that too on a case by case basis.. :)
There have been cases of nepotism , there have been cases where merit won, and in some cases - both did... in both BW and HW.
I guess if we look at BW as a whole industry and all the movies it is shelling out except commercial/mainstream ones, maybe it doesn't look like nepotism 'rules' the industry? :)
I cannot give a statistical representation of it haha... maybe will try to do it, (peeps join in to add). Let's take a cursory glance of the movies that are released/in the making but were in the news in the past few days on IF..

^^^ just a brief notes... correct me if I am wrong anywhere
Ones in italics are movies with mixed cast - some outsiders and some starkids.
Also, I have excluded movies by three Khans.. they are their own brands so.. 😛
Source --- wikipedia.
...I guess it is evident, atleast in the present situation that the movies go to outsiders and starkids equally...
One thing is true though, the big budget or highly publicised ones are starkids movies, but aren't we the ones that ultimately make movies hit? 😊
