"Maine soch liya hai main use ab kuch nahi bataungi"

"Kya tum dekh nahi sakti wo uske ane se kitna khush hai Gunjan? "
"Magar usne koi gadbad ki toh? "
"Kya gadbad karega wo bhala ab main pehle wali Nupur nahi rahi jo uski dhamkiyon se darr jaun. "
"Magar phir bhi di. "
"Bas maine decide kar liya hai"
"Tumhe maa se baat zaroor karni chahiye. "
"Maa khud yeh nahi chahengi ki koi bhi baat samne aye. "
"Kya baatein ho rahi hai dono behno mein? ".
Shilpa asked while coming towards them. 
"Lo Nupur yeh dawai le lo better feel hoga. "
"Ji aunty"
Nupur uttered while taking the medicine.
"Tum araam karo Nupur apne kamre mein ja kar. . milna milana phir ho jayega. Health is the priority."
Nupur simply nodded and left the place.

Mayank's eyes had been looking for Nupur but she was no where to be found. 
"Yeh Nupur kaha chali gayi. "
He muttered.
This was well noticed by Shilpa so she came towards him and spoke
"Janab ki ankhein jinhe dhoond rahi hai wo apne kamre me ja chuki hai. Apna time waste na karo. "
"Meri ankhein kisi ko nahi dhund rahi bekar ke assumptions karti ho aap. "
"Ye jo tum mere safed baal dekh rahe ho na wo maine dhoop me safed nahi kiye hai. "
Saying this she left the spot leaving an annoyed Mayank. 
"Nupur ko toh mujhse koi baat karni thi aur aab kamre me chali gayi. Bhala yeh bhi koi baat huyi. Kya main uske kamre tak jaun? Nahi nahi kisi ne dekh lia to bekar ka drama hojayega.Toh phir main use phone karun? Haan yeh theek rahega."
He took out his phone to contact her but just then Samrat called for him. 
"Ise bhi abhi hi bulana tha. "
he murmered. 
"Ata hoon"
Rohit had been noticing the things going around. He had seen the tension on Nupur's face. When he saw all the attention was off him, he silently made his way towards Nupur's room. 
He din't bother knocking at the door and entered the room in a haste. Nupur had been looking at the sky aimlessly. The noise of the gate opening wasn't enough to break her trance. 
"Ahem"
He cleared his throat breaking her trance. 
She tried piercing through the darkness to see the figure in front of her. She seemed panic stricken when she figured out who he was. 
"Kya hua Nupur mujhe dekh ke tum kuch khush nahi huyi? "
"Tumhari jurrat kaise hui mere kamre me ane ki? "
"Kabhi toh tum mere aise ane se bada khush hua karti thi. "
"Tum yaha se jate ho ya main shor machaun. "
"Haan machalo Lekin kaun sunega tumhari baat. Main toh keh dunga sab sach sach aur yakeenan sab meri hi baat manenge. "
"Mujhe hairat hai ki itna kuch hone ke baad bhi tum yaha muh uthaye chale aye ho. "
He smiled, making her more furious and said 
"Kuch ab yeh pehli baar todhi hi hai jo main aa raha hoon. Ab to hum milte hi rahenge. "
He took a step further and tried catching hold of her hand. 
"Nikal jao Rohit tum yaha se. Aur dobara ye sab karni ki jurrat bhi mat karna warna tum bohot pachtaoge. "
"haaye Nupur tumhare is gusse par hi toh main qurban tha ya kahu abhi bhi hoon. "
He said while walking in circles around her and tucking her flying hair. 
Nupur couldn't take it anymore. She pushed him hard making him trip and ran out of the room in despair.

Nupur had been rushing towards the ground floor when she collided with a muscular figure and fell on the floor. 
"Nupur tum theek toh ho na? "
"Haan.. mai.. n.. theek hoon. "
She managed. 
"Par lag to nahi rahi. "
"Main bilkul theek.. "
Before completing her lines she fell on the floor, unconscious. 
"Nupur.. Nupur. "
He tried bringing her back to her senses.
His loud tone was heard by all. They all paced towards them. 
"Di kya hua?"
Gunjan asked while sitting on the floor. 
"Pata nahi Gunjan woh daud kar aa rahi thi aur kuch ghabrayi thi isse pehle woh kuch bolti wo behosh hogayi. "
Gunjan could sense something wrong. She immediately looked towards the direction from where Nupur came. 
"Mayank Tum Di ko uske kamre tak le chalo. Main abhi doctor ko call karti hoon. "
said Shilpa while dialling a number. 
Mayank took her in his arms and moved towards her room with lines of tension making his face go pale. He made her lie down in her bed with care and Gunjan pulled the comforter over her. 
"Maine doctor ko call kar diya hai woh bas aa hi rahe hai. Nupur ki tabyat toh tabse hi kharab hai jab main ayi thi maine use rest karne ko kaha tha. "
Shilpa said while caressing Nupur's hair. Shilpa dropped a few droplets of water on her face, which brought Nupur back to her senses. She simply closed her eyes as the world seemed spinning in front of her. 
The doctor arrived a little later and reported that she fell unconsious due to stress. Mayank and his family left after the departure of the doctor to allow the family to rest. 
Nupur got up in the middle of the night and moved towards the window and looked at the sky while a lone pair of tear made its way down her translucent cheek. 
She began thinking about the time when her marriage had been fixed with Rohit. 
"Nupur ap kya humesha se hi itni pyari hai? "
"Iska jawab koi kaise de sakta hai."
"Mujhe kya lagta hai apko pata hai? "
"Kahein"
"Nahi choro kabhi aur kahunga fursat se. "
"Jaisa aap sahi samjhein. "

She remembered the day before their engagement when he had secretly entered her room during midnight. 
Nupur was reading a book but was suddenly distracted by a thud that came from her verandah.
"Rohit ap yaha? "
She asked while being shocked and panicking a bit. 
"Kya tum mere yaha ane se khush nahi hui? "
He asked while trying to catch hold of her. 
"Ha hui toh hoon magar kisine dekh lia toh. "
She asked while turning towards the gate to see that no one had seen them. 
"Koi nahi dekhega... "
She cut him in between and said
"Dekhein ap yaha se jayein abhi please warna mere liye badi musibat khadi ho jayegi. "
"Nupur malum hai agar koi aur ladki hoti toh wo mujhse kabhi jane ko na kehti tum na jane kis mitti ki bani ho. Itna darr? "
He said while pulling her towards himself and keeping his hands on her lower back. 
She breathed heavily on this gesture of his. She tried to remove his hands gently, but instead he tightened his grip and jerked her a bit closer to himself. 
For Nupur it was uncomfortable, she had started loving him but couldn't bear with this. It was just too much for her. 
He placed his head on her shoulder and ventured deep in her neck and left a peck on her soft skin and his hands moved deeper than the lower back. 
It was time she had to stop him, she could not take it any longer. She pushed him hard and said
"Rohit i am not at all ready for all this. "
His face showed how furious he was. 
He moved towards her in rage and placed a hard slap on her face and left the room. 
She fell on the floor in disbelief and blankly stared at the disappearing figure. She din't cry that night, not a single drop of tear had come out. Shock had overshadowed all feelings. She was too numb to react. 
She had never imagined that he would slap her. He had always shown respect towards her and had treated her kindly but today he had definitely crossed all boundaries. 
She din't feel guilty for stopping him because she knew she wasn't wrong. 
She had not moved from the spot till the next morning when Gunjan entered her room. 
"Are aise kyu baithi ho? Jaldi utho Maa ne tumhe aj jaldi fresh ho kar neeche bulaya hai. "
She said while moving towards her cabinet to take out her things. 
"Tum ja kar fresh ho jao tab tak main tumhare kapde nikalti hoon."
"Arre tum abhi tak baithi ho uthti kyu nahi aur kuch jawab bhi nahi deti. Main kya hawa me baatein kar rahi hoon? "
Nupur still din't respond. She continued to sit in the same position being lost in her trance. 
Gunjan now being tensed moved towards her and sitting besides her, she asked
"Di tumhari tabiyat toh theek hai na? "
Nupur's trance broke when Gunjan tried shaking her. 
"Haan.. main theek hoon. "
"Lag toh nahi rahi. "
"Nahi main theek hoon. Tum mere kapde nikal do main fresh hone ja rahi hoon."
"Haan.. zarur.. "
Gunjan said while being tensed a bit cause she knew it wasn't a normal trait on the part of Nupur. 
When Nupur came out of the shower, Gunjan informed her that Rohit had been calling since a long time and she had told him that Nupur will call him back after coming out of the shower. 
"Tum unhe call kar lo. "
Nupur din't say anything and simply moved out of the room. 
Gunjan thought that they might have had a fight because under normal circumstances, she would have sprang from her seat to call him back, but today her reaction had been mild and disinterested. 
Nupur had'nt picked up his phone but she knew she had to face him at night at the engagement ceremony. 
Nupur tried avoiding any conversation through out the night with Rohit but when everyone had moved towards the dining area leaving the two, she had to confront him. 
"Nupur please mujhe tumse baat karni hai. "
"Ab kehne aur sunne ko kya reh gaya hai Rohit? "
she retorted. 
"Tum ek baar sun toh lo. "
"Mujhe koi explanations nahi chahiye."
"Explanation nahi bas hakeekat bayan karna chah raha hoon."
"Yehi hakeekat ki tum apni biwi par hath uthane ko justified samjhte ho. Yehi samjahte ho na ki biwi aur shauhar ka rishta boss aur subordinate ka hota hai ki usse jab chaha nikal dia. Mujhe kitna dukh hua hai iska andaza tum hargiz nahi laga sakte. "
"Main janta hoon islye main maafi mangna chahta hoon. Please Nupur yeh meri humare rishte ke darmiyan pehli aur akhiri galti hogi. Tum mera yakeen karo main koi galat intention le kar tumhare kamre me nahi aya tha. Mujhe bas tumse milna tha. Magar pata nahi tumhe dekh kar mujhe kya hojata hai. "
"Bas Rohit aise baatein mat karo mere saath. "
"Nupur I am sorry please ek last chance de do mujhe main tumhe disappoint nahi karunga. "
Nupur din't say anything. She set her face hard cause she felt it was necessary to teach him a lesson but deep in her heart she forgave him for she loved him and that's what stood out for her.

The knob of the door clicked which brought Nupur out of her trance. 
"Ye kya di tum abhi tak jagi hui ho? "
Gunjan said while keeping the jar on the side table. 
"Woh bas ab nind nahi aa rahi. Itni dair to soyi rahi thi. "
She said while turning around but avoiding an eye contact. 
"Hua kya tha di? Mayank keh raha tha ki tum bhagti huyi uske pas ayi thi. "
"Gunjan woh.. "
Nupur said in a shaky voice while trying to control her tears. 
"woh.. "
She said while sobbing. 
"Kya hua di? Ab tum mujhe dara rahi ho. "
Nupur turned to Gunjan and kept her head on her shoulder while letting out her tears. 
"Di please tum ye rona band karo aur mujhe sahi se batao."
"Woh mere kamre me aya tha. .. "
After hearing the entire incident Gunjan said while being furious
"Di tumhe foran mujhe bulana chahiye tha. "
"Kaise bulati..agar chillati toh sab koi ajatein to phir kya hota.. jab laga ki nahi ab Zindagi aur dhoka nahi degi.. Sab kuch acha lagne laga tha ek khwab jaisa..Jab laga ki saari mushkilo ko asaan karne ke liye koi khada hoga..toh Bhagwan ne mujhe is mushkil me dhal diya. Kal ke us modh ko mere samne laga ke khada kar diya jise main kabhi yaad bhi nahi karna chahti thi.Wo shaks jisse mein nafrat karti hoon use samne kyu lana tha.  "
She said while falling down on the ground. 
"Bohot hogya di main tumhe aise ghutte huye nahi dekh sakti. Tumhe Mayank se baat karni hi hogi aur tum nahi karogi toh main karungi. Kal tumhari engagement hai aur main hargiz nahi chahti ki wo shaks kuch bhi kharab kare.. "
"Magar Mayank meri baat kyu manega? Wo uska bachpan ka dost hai aur mujhe uski Zindagi me aye ho 2 mahine bhi nahi huye. "
"Kabhi kabhi zindagi bhar ka saath bhi kam hota hai aur kabhi toh chand pal hi kafi hote hai.  Mayank ek samjhdar adni hai aur Di agar woh is waqt tumhara saath nahi de payega to age bhi kabhi nahi umeed karna ki woh ek acha saathi banega. Agar woh tumse mohabbat karta hai toh wo tumhari baat manega.. agar na mane toh aise shaks ko khud chor dena chahiye. "
She said and stormed out of the room. 
Nupur sat there on the floor crying and cursing her fate. 
"Kyu? Mere saath hi kyu? "
She shouted loud. 
On the other hand,Mayank had really been tensed about Nupur. He wanted to check on her once but refrained from calling to make sure he dint disturb her from resting.
Instead of being excited for a big day in their life. Both of them had spent the night with a heavy heart. 
Mayank couldn't wait for the morning to know about her condition. The first thing he did when his eyes struck open was dial her number.He smiled realising how important she had become in a span of a month. 
Nupur had been awake all night. The flash of his name on the screen was a sort of a relief for her.  She took the deepest breath possible and received the call. 
"Good morning. Kaise ho tum?"
"Good morning.Waise ye sawal to mera hona chahiye.  Main theek hoon aur tum? "
"Main bhi theek hoon. "
"Nupur sab theek toh hai na? Kal tum is tarah se bhag kar mere pas ayi thi jaise tumne kisi bhoot ko dekh lia ho. Sach batao kahi aina toh nahi dekha tha. "
He tried to lighten up her mood
"Tum kya mere saath mazak karre ho? "
"Haan yaar mazak hi kar raha hoon. Tumhe kya hua hai Nupur mujhe tumhari tabiyat se zada tumhara mood kharab lag raha hai.Kya tum yeh shaadi nahi karna chahti?  Nupur main nahi chahta ki tum bina marzi ke yeh shaadi karo. Tumhare upar koi zabardasti nahi hai."
He said while getting upset. 
Hearing his concern, her eyes again became moist and she replied in a trembling tone. 
"Mayank i do love nothing in the world like you. Main tumhe chor ab kisi ke bare me soch bhi nahi sakti. Magar hai koi baat jo mujhe daraya karti hai. "
He asked while being overwhelmed by her reply. 
"Nupur tum mujhe trust karti ho? "
"Khud se zada"
"To phir tumhe darne  ki zarurat nahi hai yaad rakhna kuch bhi ho main tumhare saath hoon. Tum mujhse koi bhi baat share kar sakti ho and i love you too. "
She smiled and bit her lip because his reply had given her an unusual pleasure. 
"Main tumse milna chahti hoon. Magar aaj milna possible nahi hai Mayank. Koi mujhe ghar se nikalne nahi dega aur shaam mein toh hum itne busy honge. Tum kya kal free ho? "
"Main tumhare liye humesha free hoon. To hum kal lunch par milte hai?"
"Haan."

Nupur had been dressed in a shimmering light pink lahenga with matching ornaments making her look more beautiful than ever. 
"Oho aaj toh kya baat hai. Kya lag rahi ho. Mayank bada complexed feel karega. "
Gunjan said while trying to embarrass her. 
"Ab aisi bhi koi baat nahi hai. "
"Aisi hi baat hai. Magar woh bhi aaj kamal lag raha hai. "
"Woh agya hai kya? "
She asked with her eyes shining at the mention of his name. 
"Aaj toh tumhari khushi ka thikana nahi malum hota. Ha agaya hai. "
Just then Geeta entered and said
"Chalo Nupur Mayank agaya hai. "
Nupur smiled and began her walk towards the hall area.

Mayank had been eagerly looking towards the staircase. He dint want to miss the chance of  seeing her coming down the stairs. His face had been glowing more  than ever before.

"Araam se bhai aise dekhoge to log kya sochenge thoda to control kar lo."

Samrat said while suppressing his laughter. He had never seen his brother this nervous before. The way he was waiting for her gave him a certain pleasure. Samrat knew how shy his brother was and even disinterested in looking at women. He smirked on remembering how he would always give him a good lesson for focusing more on education than at girls and about Nupur,he knew she was the one his brother needed,a women who would go beyond reach to be with him and would give him a happy and a contended life.

Mayank was awestruck when he saw her descending. His heart literally skipped a beat when he saw her clad in that beautiful lahenga. He gasped seeing her and tried controlling his feelings.

Nupur on the other hand tried avoiding an eye contact with him cause she knew he would leave her embarrassed with his intense gaze as she already had been feeling heavy because all the eyes were on her.

Gunjan made her sit near Mayank and silently whispered in Mayank's  ears

"Mayank aj thoda control kar lo aur di tumhe aaj bach kar rehna chahiye kyu ki mujhe to lagta hai aaj Mayank tumhe le kar hi bhag jayega."

Nupur glared at her while Mayank simply shied away.

The ring ceremony was immediately completed and it was time for some of the performances. Nupur's only relief through the entire ceremony was that she had not seen Rohit, but it was short lived for he had now made his appearance.

Samrat and Rohit sang while moving towards the pair. Mayank gave a hi-five to both of them and looked at Nupur while smiling. Nupur smiled back but soon removed her gaze from them.

Everyone seemed to enjoy their performance except the Bhushan family not because of anything but Rohit.

At the end of their performance, there was a huge round of applause in the hall area.
While everyone was busy in their own conversations Mayank leaned towards her and whispered

"Bohot khoobsurat lag rahi ho."

"Shukriya."

She said with a forced smile.She hated herself for doing this but the presence of that man had a horrible effect on her mood. A little later when people had moved towards the dining area, Mayank and Shilpa advised her to take rest in her room.

"Nupur tumhe hargiz khud ko stress nahi karna hai. Tum abhi kamre me jao aur aram karo baki hum sab sambhalenge."

Nupur was unwilling but when they forced her she had to leave.

When Nupur opened her room, she was grabbed and pulled inside. She tried shouting but the person had closed her mouth. She tried pushing him but his strength was far more than hers. He slowly whispered in her ears

"Main hoon Nupur chillane ki kya zaroorat hai."

Saying this he jerked and left her .

"Tum yaha kyu aye ho main abhi sab ko bulati hoon"

"Acha itni himmat hai. Bulao zaroor phir tum  hi dekhna mera khel,"

He paced towards her and caught hold of her by her waist she tried pushing him but his grip  was extremely strong,just then Shilpa ,Geeta, Gunjan entered the room with the food in hand.

Shilpa's hands trembled and she dropped the plate in her hand.She immediately called for her husband and son.

Rohit immediately moved a step backwards and Nupur had tears in her eyes. Nupur tried to speak but she could only splutter and nothing properly came out of her mouth .

Mayank's eyes had too become teary and he set his face hard and stood like a statue.
"Nupur mujhe tumse yeh expectation hargiz nahi thi."

Spoke Shilpa breaking the silence that had embraced the room.

Nupur was too numb to react she looked at Mayank hopelessly and tried to control her tears which had already been falling .

"Aur Rohit tum is tarah ki harkat karoge mujhe andaza bhi nahi tha.Agar tum dono ek dusre ko pasand karte the toh apne ghar walon ko kyu nahi bata diya.Itni beizatti humari karwane ki kya zarurat thi."

She said with her bloodshot eyes showing her anger.

"Main Nupur se behad mohabbat karta hoon.Maine to Nupur ko keh bhi diya tha us din ki hume aur nahi milna chahiye jab mujhe pata chala uski shaadi Mayank se ho rahi hai. Magar main uske kehne par hi milne aya tha.Wo Mayank se shaadi nahi karna chahti thi."

Rohit said and wiped his eyes while trying to convince them .The Bhushan family looked at the drama being portrayed by Rohit.

He continued

"Aunty main ye hargiz nahi karna chahta tha magar Nupur ke ghar wale kabhi nahi mante..Unhe paisa chahiye jo mere pas nahi hai magar Mayank ke pas hai.Meri aur Nupur ki toh engagement bhi ho gayi thi magar jab Mayank ka rishta aya toh unhone mujhse rishta khatam kar dia. "

Mayank immediately remembered the time of their dinner date when Nupur was about to tell him something about her engagement. He cursed himself now for not listening to her at that moment.

"..Magar Nupur hargiz hi Mayank se shaadi nahi karna chahti thi.Wo humesha meri saath hi apni ye zindagi guzarna chahti thi aur main bhi magar mujhe jaise hi pata chala ki wo ladka aur koi nahi mera dost Mayank hai toh maine Nupur ko saaf inkaar kar dia.Magar woh mujhe bulati rahi aur kya karta main pyaar main log bebas ho hi jate hai.."

Nupur couldn't take the lie anymore and screamed at the top of her voice.

"Bas..Bas ...tumhe hargiz sharam nahi ati. Tum kis kadar meri zindagi barbad kar rahe ho. Tumhe koi haq nahi hai ki tum is kadar mera tamasha banao. Ye saari baatein jhut hai Mayank tum mera yakeen karo.Main ek baar tumse akele mein baat karna chahti hoon please mujhe ek mauka dedo Mayank."

She said while literally begging in front of him however Mayank stood as still as a stone.

"Nupur ab jhut bolne ki zarurat nahi hai jab sab kuch samne aa hi chuka hai.Uncle aap hi bataye ki humari engagement nahi hui thi kya?"

He moved towards Bhushan,Nupur's dad, and asked.

"Ap chup kyu hai boliye please."

"Bhushan sahab aap kuch bolte kyu nahi?"

Said Shilpa.

"Haan hui thi magar.."

Before he could add anything Rohit cleverly interrupted

"Dekha aunty main jhut nahi keh raha tha."

On hearing this,Mayank immediately left the room in rage as he could not take anymore of it.

Nupur fell on the floor while crying out loud.

He paced towards the parking area and kicked his car and then sat down on the bonnet cursing his luck.

"Bhai.."

Samrat said while placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Mujhe kisi se koi baat nahi karni hai tum yaha se chale jao."

"Magar mujhe karni hai bhai."

"Samrat."

He shouted.

"Aaj main apki baat nahi manunga bhai I am sorry.Kyu ki apko meri baat sunni hogi.Aap kehte hai ap Nupur se pyaar karte hai.Kya pyaar main yei bharosa hota hai ki koi dusra kuch bhi keh de wo hum maanle.Kya aap Rohit ke ladkiyon ke taraf harkeetain nahi jante."

"Lekin woh mere saath aisa nahi kar sakta."

"Kaun kya kar sakta hai iska andaza koi bhi nahi laga sakta. jaha tak bhabi ki baat hai main kabhi nahi maan sakta ki woh kabhi aisa kar sakti hai.Unki ankhon main mujhe apke liye sirf mohabbat aur izzat dikhti hai. Unke chehre par saaf dikhta hai ki woh kabhi fareb nahi kar sakti. Aur agar unhe ap me dilchaspi na hoti toh jab unhe mauka dia gaya tha ki woh khud apna faisala bataye toh woh beshak mana kar deti. Bhai maine unhe apke liye pareshan hote dekha hai. Apko nahi hai andaza jab apne na jaane kis bewakufi me unse baat karna chor dia tha aur unhe laga ki apko kuch hogaya hai tab unhone mujhe kis tarah pareshan hokar phone kia tha.KOi bhi aurat aisa nahi karegi agar use kisi ladke se mohabbat na ho.Bhai main likh kar de sakta hoon ki woh bekasoor hai.Ap unse please ek baar baat karye please."

Something dawned in Mayank's head and he remembered about the time when she had panicked so much on just seeing him cough. He knew she cared for him and now he paced back towards the room.

Shilpa and Mr.Sharma had been coming towards the parking lot and on seeing Mayank pacing towards the room,stopped him.

"Kaha ja rahe ho?"

"Mujhe Nupur se akele mein baat karni hai."

"aab baat karne ko kya reh gaya Mayank sab dekhne aur sunne ke baad."

"Main aakar batata hoon."

In the meantime in the room Rohit was having a gala time

"Aplogo ne mujhe nicha dikhaya tha na.Aaj meri baari thi aur kasam se bohot maza aya.."

Just then Mayank entered and spoke

"Mujhe tumse baat karni hai Nupur."

Nupur shivered as she heard the words come out of his mouth. She trembled and almost tripped while getting up. She could not feel anything, she somehow managed to reach near him. He made a move forward, so did she.
She followed him till the terrace and stopped. There was silence for a moment until he finally broke the awkwardness that had surrounded them. 
"Nupur main tumhare lafzon me yeh sach jan na chahta hoon. Aur kisi chiz se darne ki tumhe zaroorat nahi hai. Agar tum Rohit ko pasa... "
He gulped a big lump down his throat before he could complete his sentence. 
"Pa.. sand hai.. Main tumse kuch nahi puchunga. Koi explanations nahi chahye hogi mujhe. "
He spoke turning away from her. 
She smirked which drew his attention. 
"Mayank tumhe pata hai agar meri zindagi me ab koi dukh reh gaya hai toh wo ye hai ki main jisse sabse zada mohabbat karti ho woh mujhe trust nahi karta. "
She closed her eyes tightly and allowed the tears to make its way comfortably down her cheeks. 
He turned and felt a bit helpless looking at her but when the sight of her in Rohit's arms flashed before him he again set his face hard. 
"Rohit tumhare kamre me kya kar raha tha?"
Nupur gathered courage, took it as another test of hers in this life and praying not to encounter anything as such in the future, spoke up. 
"Ye sach hai ki meri mangni Rohit se hui thi. "
He closed his fist tighter. 
She continued
"Magar ye sach nahi hai ki main usse mohabbat karti hoon aur na hi yeh sach hai ki maine tumhe istemal kiya hai. Rohit se main behad nafrat karti hoon. Agar tumhe yaad hoga to maine tumse kaha tha ki main tumse milkar kuch kehna chahti hoon. Wo isi bare me tha Mayank. Main yeh sacchai hargiz tumse chupana nahi chahti thi par main darr gayi thi ki tum mera yakeen nahi karoge. Par maine tumse sab sach kehne ki himmat juta hi li thi ki aaj yeh sab kuch hogaya. "
She took a deep breath, avoiding any eye contact with him. 
"To woh kaunsi baat hai Nupur jo tum mujhse chupa rahi ho? "
"Kuch 2-3 saal pehle Rohit ka mere liye rishta aya tha. Maa bauji ko woh acha laga aur shayad mujhe bhi. Humari mangni hone wale thi... "
And she narrated the incident when he had barged into her room and tried all his dirty tricks with her. 
"Jab maine use maaf kar dia tha toh mujhe laga woh sach much badal gaya hai magar woh ek aur galti thi mere liye.Aise galti jiska harjana main kabhi nahi bhar sakungi. Jism ke zakham ko toh hum phir bhi nazar andaz kar dete magar zehan ke zakham kabhi nahi bharte. "
He looked at her with his wet eyes and had started hating himself already for not trusting this women, eventhough the real truth was yet to come. 
She began narrating the worst situation that she had faced in her life. 
"Nupur please tum jaldi ghar aa jao Rohit badi musibat me . "
She dint recognise the voice but she had heard his name and he was in trouble  and it was enough for her to experience a panicking rush in her body. 
Before she could ask anything, he had already cut the phone. Nupur rushed from college towards his house, panicking and praying for protecting him from whatever trouble he was in. She reached in a while and entered the house through the half open door. She looked for him around the house but couldn't find him anywhere. She decided to take the stairs that probably led to his room. 
She could hear some voice from the adjacent room and hence she peeped in to see what exactly was going on. 
"Rohit tum bhi kamal ho kya plan banaya hai apne is dubte status se bahar nikalne ka aur ladki bhi achi mil gayi. Aisi opportunities kaha mila karti hai logo ko. "
"Ahan.. Opportunities sab ko milti hai magar ye toh logon pe depend karta hai ki woh kaise iss opportunity ko avail kare. "
"Haan opportunist to ho hi tum hamesha se. "
"Khair nahi hona chahiye kya? "
"Par Rohit dekh lo main bohot din use bardasht nahi kar sakti. "
Nupur getting a sense of what was happening tried to observe things more closely. 
"Toh use rakhega kaun. Yahan shaadi hui aur humara matlab nikla aur woh wapas apne ghar divorce ke saath. "
"Par Rohit mujhe nahi lagta ki yeh sab itna asaan hoga. "
"Hoga toh nahi par karna toh hoga hume kuch. Isliye toh main chahta tha ki.. magar usne toh meri alag beizatti kar di.. ISka badla bhi toh lena hai mujhe. "
Nupur's eyes were brimming with tears. She tried controlling but failed to do so. 
"Par Rohit tumhara yeh divorce lena itna asan hoga kya? Aur divorce lene par toh wo sare paise bhi le lenge tumse. "
"Agar main usme koi weakness prove kar doon is shaadi ke na chal pane me? "
"Magar kaise? "
"Yehi toh sochna hai. "
Nupur fell on the floor hearing how the person she was deeply in love with was ready to play with her life. She allowed the tears to roll down her cheeks this time.She could suddenly hear footsteps making its way towards her. She knew she wasn't capable of confronting him alone. She wanted to escape an encounter at the moment.
However, in an attempt to leave the place in a haste, she tumbled upon the vase kept at the corner which made a reasonably loud thud. 
She tried to run but was caught by Rohit, who had probably guessed what things must have been revealed to her.

"Tumhe itni jaldi yeh sari cheezein pata nahi chalni chahiye thi. "
He dragged her inside his room. 
"Rohit mujhe choro.Mujhe jaane do. "
"Taaki tum sab ke samne ja kar sachchai keh do. "
"Khauff karo Rohit. Aise bhi tumhari sacchai samne ayegi hi. "
"Khauff.. "
he laughed and continued
"Khauff agar karne lage hum jaise log toh fir hogya Nupur. Waise tum mujhe samjhdar lagti thi, par ab dheere dheere mujhe tumhari bewakufi ka andaza ho raha hai. "
"Yeh sab kar ke tumhe kuch hasil nahi hoga. "
"Jo hoga so ab hoga Nupur. Tumhe toh main kisi layak nahi chorunga.Kaun karega tumhara yakeen. "
"Rohit yeh tumhari galat faimi hai. Tumhara sach main sabke samne laungi aur phir dekhna kya kya hota hai. "
She retorted. 
Being furious, 
he pulled her by hair and pushed her against the wall and placed a hard slap on her face. He closed her mouth with a cloth and tied her hands and left the room, 
locking her behind. Nupur fell on the floor, while tears gushed down her burning cheeks. 
The pain of the slap was intense, intense enough to make her feel dizzy and fall unconscious. 
She woke up hearing a loud voice. It took her a while to register whose voice it was not because she dint recognise the voice but because she was tired mentally and physically of the happenings. 
"Nahi aunty aaj toh meri Nupur se baat nahi hui. Kya wo abhi tak ghar nahi ayi? Uska toh phone bhi band araha hai. Ap fikar mat karye  main ata hoon. "
He kept the phone and continued
"Ab waha jakar bhi drama karna hoga. Badi musibat saabit hui hai ye ladki. "
"Magar Rohit sach toh sabke samne aayega hi jayega."
said the girl. 
"Maine ye bhi soch rakha hai tum chinta kyu kar rahi ho. ise main sare aam aisa badnam karunga ki khud ko aina me dekhne ke layak bhi nahi rahegi. Ab main chalta hoon. "
Nupur sat there in disgust, cursing her fate and crying. She wanted to be strong, she wanted to fight for herself but felt extremely helpless. She fell into deep slumber because of her tiredness and weakness. 
Rohit entered her room at night, he did not wake her up but simply used an injection to extend her sleep. 
All Nupur remembered the next morning was waking up in front of a bunch of people, with questioning eyes. 
"Puche aunty aap isse ki yeh kiske saath raat bita kar ayi hai. "
He spoke aloud in front of all the relatives and friends,who had come to attend the wedding. 
"Kaun tha wo larka Nupur jo tumhe chor gaya? "
"Main apne bete ki shaadi aise ladki se nahi kara sakti. Bhai sahab aap koi aur larka dekh lijiye apni beti ke liye. "
"Usne mujhe is kadar badnam kiya Mayank ki. main kisiko muh dikhane layak nahi rahi. Maa bauji ko chor kisi ne mujhpar aitbaar nahi kiya. Main tumhe zahir nahi kar sakti ki kis tarah  ghut ghut kar ek ek pal guzare the maine apni zindagi ke. Aur iske baad bhi agar tumhe lagta hai ki woh meri zindagi me koi ehmiyat rakhta hai, toh Mayank tum bhi mujhe chor kar ja sakte ho, main tumhe nahi rokungi. "
She sat down on the floor and closed her eyes firmly. 
A shiver of guilt ran down his body. He looked at her and wiping the little drop of tear sat down beside her. Cupping her face, he spoke gently
"Nupur i hope tum mujhe maaf kar sakogi, maine tumpe yakeen nahi kiya, meri galti hai. Agar hum kisi ko apna jeevan saathi banane ka irada karte hai toh hume uspar pura trust hona chahiye. Main tumhare umeedon par shayad nahi khada ho paya hoon. Tum mujhe koi bhi saza de sakti ho Nupur, lekin khud ko mujhse dur mat karna. Tumhare kisi aur ke baho me hone ke khayal se mujhe darr lagta hai. Nupur meri odh dekho. Ainda koi bhi baat ho tumhe mujhpar trust hona chahiye, humare pyaar par yakeen hona chahiye ki main tumhari baat man lunga. Agar yeh saari cheezein tum mujhe usi din bata deti jab Rohit aya tha toh hargiz itna kuch nahi hota. Main mohabbat karta hoon tumse,yeh humesha yaad rakhna. Lekin kabhi kabhi hum ankho dekhi chizon ko deny nahi kar sakte Nupur, isliye maine tumpe shak kiya. Lekin mano meri baat agar koi kabhi bhi mujhse aakar yeh kehta, toh main kabhi nahi manta. I hope Nupur tum mujhe samjh sakogi, mujhe maaf kar sakogi. Karogi na Nupur. "
Nupur looked at him and took a deep breath and spoke. 
"Agar mohabbat na karti toh kabhi maaf nahi kar paati. Magar main apni feelings ke karan majboor hoon. Aurtein ajib hoti hai Mayank, ruth bhi jaldi jati hai aur maan bhi jati hai. Magar cheezein bhulne me unko waqt lagta hai. I hope tum yeh samjh paoge. Isme koi shak nahi ki main tumse mohabbat karti hoon aur karti rahungi. "
She lowered her face in his palm and cried her heart out. This time Mayank dint try to stop her because he felt that was the only way she could feel better.

She stretched her hand to get hold of him but found the space next to her empty. She quickly got up and saw the time
"Raat ke 3 baje ye Mayank kaha gayab hai. "
She stepped out of her bed and followed the noises coming from the room downstairs. She decided to peep in.
"Dad, i think yeh surprise mom ko bohot acha lagega. "
"I hope So.We need to ensure that she doesn't come to know of it. Tum toh janti hi ho kitni smart hai tumhari mom. "
He smiled looking at his daughter, Reena. 
"Ha woh to hai."
Replied Sahil, his 15 year old son. 
"Chalo ab bohot dair hogayi hai aur zada dair agar main kamre se bahar raha toh tumhari mom mujhe dhundte huye chali ayegi. "
He hugged his children and whispered "Thanks" and left for his room. 
Nupur immediately ran up to their room and pretended to be asleep because she din't want to spoil their fun. 
Mayank entered the room and exclaimed
"Chalo aaj toh bach gaya. So rahi hai. "
And he filled the place next to her while Nupur chuckled thinking about the surprise.

The entire day Mayank and children avoided much of confrontation with Nupur and left the house early. Nupur knew the reason and hence din't fuss much. Though Nupur knew they were planning a surprise but still it was a surprise because she din't know what it actually was and because of this she was super excited the entire time. 
In the evening Mayank came to pick her up from her office as usual and Nupur pretended to be a bit angry, noticing it Mayank asked 
"Kuch khafa si lag rahi ho."
"Acha notice kar lia tumne? "
She asked sarcastically. 
"Kis baat par? "
"Woh to tumhe yaad karne ki koshish karni chahiye. "
She turned the other side while suppressing her laughter. 
"Kaho na Nupur kal raat to tum bilkul theek thi aur subah bhi humari baat nahi huyi to phir kya wajah hai tumhari narazgi ki? "
"Tum khud pata laga lo. "
Mayank too tried to pretend till they reached their destination. 
"Nupur kya tum 5 minute yaha baithogi mujhe kuch kaam tha."
"Yehi baki tha. "
She complained. 
Mayank returned in a few minutes and opened the back door of the car and silently attempted to tie a black cloth on her eyes. 
"Mayank tum ye kya kar rahe ho? "
She shouted.

"Shhh..Nupur kya tum shaadi ke 25 saal bad bhi mujhe trust nahi karti?"

"Agar tum aisi har katein karoge tab to 50 saal bad bhi nahi karungi."

"Nupur please bus 5 minute i promise you won't be disappointed."

Nupur complied allowing him to tie the cloth around her eyes.

Mayank parked the car and opened the door for her and catching hold of her hand guided her.

"Kaha le ja rahe ho Mayank tum mujhe?"

She enquired.

However, he din't respond .

On reaching, he slowly opened the cloth and allowed her to see where she was.

Nupur asked in confusion

"Ye to wahi jagah nahi hai?"

"Haan Nupur yehi wahi jagah hai jahan hum apne first dinner date par aye the aur.."

"Aur tumne mujhe propose kiya tha."

She completed the sentence for him and immediately hugged him tight.

Mayank was overwhelmed seeing this reaction of hers and he too responded.

"Nupur ab hum baithe?"

"Haan."

She said breaking the hug and while blushing she lowered her gaze.

"Waise Nupur tum aaj bhi usi tarah sharma rahi ho jaise shaadi ke baad sharmaya karti thi."

"HAan Mrs.Sharma jo hoon.Tum bhi na Mayank."

They laughed and sat together and ordered something and kept talking about random things when suddenly he excused himself and left the table.

"yeh Mayank bhi na date par bhi mujhe chor kar chala gaya."

She muttered.

Suddenly the lights went out and her attention was drawn towards the projector.

"Thank you Nupur for always being there and handling a person like me."

Echoed his voice in the room and then a series of images were displayed on the screen. From videos of their wedding day to their honeymoon and the first days of their children at home to  their trips and every important day of their lives. Nupur sat there with her brimming with tears.

"Happy 25th anniversary Nupur."

And the lights were switched on. Nupur ran towards him and hugged him tighter than ever before and whispered in his ears

"thank you Mayank thank you so much."
