Well, I didn't much enjoy the script of the movie and think Sonam needs to improve, but I really liked him in Aisha and thought he suited the role, plus also liked the chemistry between him and Sonam. Also, he was the one saying he's wanting to be versatile and explore as many different characters as possible. Strange that he should say something like this now. 🤔

Although I do agree that the focus should have been more on the content of the movie rather than fashion during the promotions.

You are right. I really enjoyed Aisha too ..with its share of flaws,of course. And I admire Abhay as an actor...but I don't see the point in discussing as in how much he regretted doing the film keeping in mind that he once rubbished those rumors.Dunno what news is right. Well he is entitled to share his opinion on the movie as he likes but why sign such a film in the first place 😕.
And I don't get why people say that the focus of the film was more on the clothes...well I can say for myself that the clothes didn't distract me from the narration ...and whats so bad if you have the leading lady wearing fashionable clothes in a movie...especially when her character demands it :S.

OKay!! So after about 3 months he decided to say he won't take chances with films like Aisha? I actually thought he was very good in the movie. Why all the drama now?? When he praised sonam and the movie from the top?? Or Did he had some fight with sonam which he is giving such comments? A very low move from Abhay. I actually respected him for doing the movie where Imran declined it.

My exactly thoughts. No one questioned when bebo did in KI, or Katrina does in her movies. Why fingers point only on Sonam?? Moving wasn't just about her clothes but her chemistry with Abhay and her life around with friends.

Personally speaking, I too was more focused on the characters rather than the fashion..even though I'm crazy about fashion (and Emma is one of my fav novels so was just too busy figuring out the similarities/differences - it helps that I havn't seen Clueless), so the fashion aspect didn't really overshadow the story for me. But I can see that it can for other people and also agree that the PR/maketing was more focused on fashion - I know the character demands it, but I still feel they could have focused less on fashion (the main reason they focused so much on it was probably because Sonam has created a fashionista tag and they wanted to milk it) - at least that would have made people focus more on the content and not tag the movie as 'superficial'.
But the whole point is - that even if Abhay regretted doing the movie/had issues with anything - I find it a little disrespectful that he would say it out in public after all this time now that the movie has flopped. Also, I think Abhay has only benifitted from Aisha. His performance was appreciated by the critics/audeince alike and he attempted a genre different from his regular movies. Also, the buzz around his name was stronger this year - I discovered him after watching Aisha lol.

^^True!! Abhay got lots of publicity and his comments like Sonam is the best kisser made lots of headlines. I don't know if he did to gain popularity or he actually meant it. I didn't find it decent, honest to say. He should had kept it to himself and Aisha in making. But everyone did loved him in the movie, so i don't know why whine now like a failure newcomer.

I've watched all of Abhay's films and i dont think Aisha was a bad film to do at all. He's quite a serious actor and likes taking on roles that are more challenging than the everyday romantic hero characters, and Aisha was a good way to open that door which he tends to avoid. Infact it wasn't a bad role at all, there was no choreographed 'singing and dancing' which he has stated several times that he hates, and his role wasnt idiotic, he played quite a charming smart young man who complimented Sonam's less appealing character a lot more by humanizing the idea of "Aisha". Aisha on its own wasnt a spectacular movie, but in no way did his role in the movie hinder his groW*H as an actor.

regardless, yes there was quite a lot of money and time spent into the asthetic appeal of the movie, but i don't know why anyone was surprised by this. It's about an elite society where rich kids run around all day buying great but ridiculously expensive clothes while slowly learning lessons on 'love' and 'friendship', but taking far longer than anyone living a normal life would. Its almost entirley an eye-candy film, made to please girls who specifically fantasize about that lifestyle, and frankly it did that quite well. if anyones seen Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette they'd get what i'm talking about.
That was a historical film which was largely lacking in character development and content, but had a mindblowingly good soundtrack and looked beautiful beyond belief. it was a mood film.

Why is Abhay coming out with comments like this now?!

Wasn't it obvious from the start that Aisha was going to be more commercial than art house? I don't think Aisha's content was ever supposed to be complex or deep...if it was, they would have stuck with a period setting! And although the styling and clothes were a big selling point for the film, there was plenty of focus on it being a modern day adapation of Emma!

Its a very sweet and simple film! When people have no problems with watching films sold on half-clad women shaking their asses' onscreen then they shouldn't have a problem with Aisha.

I think the movie wasn't scripted well...as you've said earlier so the characters did, to some extent, come across as one dimensional ...but I could still relate to it...and much much better than IHLS...maybe I didn't expect it to be that way..I don't know....it had some really good moments and all the characters seemed very real.
@bold..I know...I thought the same way and was happy for him since he attempted something much more "commercial" with this movie and would be recognized much more by the masses. Oh you discovered him after watching this movie...lol...you may consider watching Socha na tha...Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and Road movie...they are all awesome.

What!? I liked him sooo much in Aisha! He was soo charming and good in the movie. People who usually don't watch arthouse cinema or offbeat cinema did discover a new cutie in Abhay fin Aisha. Sona-Abhay were sooo cute. Im sad he said that :'( But I loved him as Arjun!
