As Abhimanyu left for work the next morning he called his mother. She didn't pick up so he left a message for her to call him back later. He recalled the last major discussion he had with her before he had shifted to Mumbai.

" I know you are still upset about what happened with Alia. However I am your mother I cannot see you like this," Suman stated.

He sighed.

"Dekho Ma mujhe nahin patha hai ki main phirse pyaar kar paonga." ( I don't know if I will be able to fall in love again)

Suman Modi sighed.

His father wanted him to free of the past for a few years before discussing marriage. Suman as his mother saw differently. She thought someone new could take her son's mind off the past. They could start off as friends and something could bloom down the road. She hated seeing Abhimanyu become distant and cold to any female not related to him. If he was their boss he was stern yet cordial. Acquaintances and other women of his age group he would ignore their good habits and beauty.

"Ma main kal Mumbai jara hoon. I will call you from time to time, '' he promised.

" Running away from here will not get you anywhere Abhimanyu," she stated firmly.

" Nahin. I am not running but advancing my career. I don't think there is a girl who can really love me. Girls who go after me are all for position of power and money. When they realize I don't live like that they walk out," he stated.

Suman sighed. There was one thing she could do.

" Theek hai beta, lekin tuhme mere liye ek vaada karma hoga," she stated.

" Kaunsa vaada?"

" If you find a girl who you believe can love you the way you deserve, call me. However if this does not happen in the next two years you will give us a chance to arrange your marriage," she stated.

He had not wanted to make that promise. Now less than a year after leaving home he had found true love. He was sure his mother would love Nikita. In fact he wanted to arrange a visit as soon as possible.

Abhimanyu was happy as he walked into Sanjeevani. He went to his office first. He opened the door and was surprised to find his chair occupied. He placed his hands on his hips and looked sternly at the chair facing away from him. Who dared to enter his office like this?

He placed his hands on the arm rests, suddenly the person rolled around. The scent of freshly washed hair hit his nose first. The scent seemed so familiar. He came face to face to a smiling Nikita.

He backed up and looked at her astonished.

" What are you doing here? You should be in your room resting or at home resting," he exclaimed.

" Abhi main toh yahan files lene ki lye ayi thi jab Patil ka message agaya," she stated.

" Kaunsa message?"

" He needs us to work on the New Sanjeevani project, the minister will pull our funds if we do not have anything ready by tomorrow morning," she stated.

He was fuming mad that she wasn't taking care of herself but this project needed to be done as well. He had barely paid attention to it the past few days.

" All right Nikki. We'll work on this project. However if you feel or look ill I am making sure you are in a bed resting," he stated.

She smiled brightly.

" Good because I don't like being a patient. I prefer doing my job. You know everything that happened has made me realize how much for granted I took Sanjeevani and you," she declared.

He looked at her solemnly as she spoke.

Suddenly his phone rang. It broke her reverie. He gave her an apologetic smile before turning away to answer it. She got engrossed in her work as he talked. She didn't look in his direction until he smiled at her.

" Who was that on the phone if you don't mind me asking,"

" Meri Ma thi. She wants to meet you. I told her after you are feeling better and this project is started we can all get together," he stated.

She blushed but then turned grave.

" You think she'll like me?"

He smiled.

" My Mom likes my choice. She will adore you Nikki. Come let's go to the library and sit there for awhile.
