*Hi5* on the fetish for titles- me too!! And thank you for always noticing- I am obsessed that the title should reflect the story and many would find it strange to realise how much thinking I expend on them! Arrr- glad to have you entangled in this story mmmwah.

😉

right, the insult to his loyal friends cannot be borne. You like the sound of Pawan aka PKJ? And uh oh- you don't like characters being killed off? 😲 Do you read/ watch Game of Thrones? I love that series and if you are familiar with it- you will know that almost everyone that you start bonding with is polished off, usually in a terrible fashion! Not that I intend to unleash mass murder on my characters so rest easy but a few casualties in a tale like this cannot be a surprise?! 😉 Oh and PKJ is very interesting! 😃

I have read that series - but hate it after the Red Wedding 😡 and am quite wary of being involved in book series after the Wheel of Time series (the author died after writing the penultimate book (11th book - the substitute was good, though he split the final book into 3 books - but his style simply killed the entire series 🤢🤢🤢, even though the ending was already written by the original author, the series was lost). So am really careful of falling for a book series😭

I do agree that in a series involving a lot of characters, some have to be 'murdered' but usually the authors pick the most interesting / lovable ones to do so - either they turn him a traitor 😡or kill him😭

Nyna

PS: there is a write up by George R R Martin as to why his series has far lesser murders / deaths than the Shakespeare - if I chance on it again, will pm the link😃

Chapter 8

Poor Swara. I feel so bad for her. My poor SwaSan have bore so much pain and sufferings in their lives when none of them was ever wrong. What Swara must be going through?? She comes to know that Sanskaar isn't mad and she had to steal for him, her sister wants her dead and right now she is supposedly eloping with a mad' prince. Seriously that's too much for a person to take in a few hours.

Dude, she's showing too much of an attitude. She can't take Sanskaar's help to get down, huh? But I guess her mental condition is such! The thing that I love the most about the way you right is the perfect description of a character's mental condition and that justifies his or her every action.

Sanskaar is too smart. He knows his plans and actions all too well. Just like a strategical and therefore victorious prince!! How can I resist drooling over this guy??!! He's too amazing! I'm waiting for Swara to come to know about his past, that he's not a criminal and a traitor.

Ragini Ragini Ragini!! This chhori is such a cruel shrewd and no words... type of a woman. The way she manipulated everything against Swara and this time nobody believed her! How bad. I expected atleast Janki to trust her but not even her nor Sharmishtha believed her. *sigh*

Back to SwaSan, Sanskaar lies so easily! And yet again I help adoring him. Such a crazy gal!! LOL Anyways that story about SwaSan being in love and eloping was so cute<3 I was literally smiling like an idiot. Sanskaar you're soon gonna fall for her! He can't stay even a moment without her yeah!! ;)

Swara is acting too smart. Dropping the gold bangle huh? Not a bad idea though. But my girl, you are supposed to stay with Prince Sanskaar only, so its no use dropping your bangles. The way Sanskaar made her wear the bangle was so fhjkghjdskh! These two are too too too adorable and lovable<3<3

That man! The last para was AMAZING!! I loved it.. The way that man said that there might be deeper shades to Sanskaar and what appears may not be true. The way he said that Sanskaar cannot be a traitor because of honesty twinkling in his eyes! I loved the last para. Let Swara know the truth soon please!

Sakshi dear- yes, let's not have sorry formalities :) I love that you have left me such nice comments for 8 and 9 both and actually look how late I am with replies!

Swara has really lived years in days, literally the whole range of emotions someone might take years to have experienced, are all slamming into her! Indeed, it is a lot to take but the Princess is made of rather tough material despite appearances:)

Haha- yes she is showing "attitude" and Sanskaar is sort of too- I thought it cute and funny that both of them are running about trying to find a way to cope! Awww- glad you feel that I am describing adequately, otherwise it often doesn't make sense right, why someone behaves in a certain way? Indeed, Sanskaar is a true strategist and will adapt too, the best thing about him:) Swara will find out the real truth but it might take a lot before she does 😉.

Ragini- hmm, what can I really say? She has sunk so low! If and when she tries to climb back out, she may not like herself very much .

I thought that whilst Sanskaar was supposedly lying at that point, he is unknowingly foreshadowing na? As you say, soon he won't be able to stay without her for real! 😃 Exactly Swara- stay put, as Shruti (Lann) put it- you are exactly where you need to be 😳. So glad you liked the last part and this chapter overall:) Mmmwah to you xoxo

Un-res

A most captivating chapter, Shru. 👏 👏 Very well crafted and described, and the pace is galloping now, much like Prince Sanskaar's prized steed, Veer. 😉

I loved so many things about this chapter: Swara's feisty, never say die attitude being one of the major ones. I just loved how she kept trying to get free, first by raging at Sanskaar that he didn't need to hold her hostage anymore, he could let her go; by actually trying to attack him with the knife 😆 and then the last, spirited attempt to mount the horse and flee. Sanskaar himself, full of valor and determination, cannot help but admire how spirited and full of fortitude she is. 😳 A match made in Heaven, if ever there was one. Shru---please, pretty please, DON'T resurrect Kavita in this Fic...and even if you do, PLEASE make Swara fight for Sanskaar and not hand him over; and of course, Sanskaar himself to see the contrast between a spirited Swara and a simpering Kavita! 😛

Like I loved your delineation of Ragini's character in an earlier chapter, loved how you fleshed out Swara's nature here. We had this discussion on one of my earlier comments on DK thread, about the hints you had given about the deeper shades to Swara's character---which Lakshya was of course too shallow to fathom properly. As you put it so well here, Swara has been so careful to conform to propriety, behave in a manner "worthy" of a Princess, because she feels indebted to her Baba and her Janki Ma for taking in Shomi and herself, giving them that stamp of legitimacy. She has been curbing her own free spirited, vibrant nature, in the belief that she needs to aspire to the fairly bland, colorless, run of the mill kind of "perfect princess" that Ragini embodies so well.

She is just SO meant for Sanskaar 😉 : who admires her spirit and vivaciousness so much, sees her and admires her for what she is, not like Lakshya, who kind of fit her into HIS image of what he would like his bride to be.

Coming to Sanskaar, he certainly is moving to "Ehsaas" fairly quickly. 😳 Or he would, if only he would relax his barriers a little bit! I really loved how you described his self loathing and disgust at having to behave like a menacing cad to Swara; threatening her to ensure her silence. Her resentment and possible low opinion of him has started flaying him a great deal...☺️

BTW, I loved how you described the deserted haveli and its environs. I could almost see it materializing before my very eyes! And once they reach there, the way Sanskaar again felt, subconsciously, hurt that Swara could fear his intentions towards her; the way he so concernedly covered her with a blanket to ensure she was warm----this man is falling in love...I just hope he realizes it, before any daayan from his past (Kavita 😡) returns!

Swara's sheer heartbroken state when she heard what her family and the Maheshwaris thought of her, was so painful to read. Ragini is really a sly viper in this piece, isn't she. She knows just what buttons to press.

But Shru, I do have a doubt here about that wise old man in Moud. Why did he tell the search party that he suspected the couple who came by earlier had gone west rather than east, as they had told him? He seemed to recognize Prince Sanskaar, seemed very favorably disposed towards the two of them, to the extent of giving Swara some very cogent advice. Could he not simply have told the pursuers they had told him they would ride east? Also, he could have instructed his daughter in law not to gossip about the pair...

Is there a mystery here? As to why he spilled the beans? Do tell me na...😃 PM me if you don't wanna reveal on the thread. Pretty please! 😉

The way Sanskaar planned that diversionary trail as regards the map, attempting to draw an attack, and thereby find out who has been plotting against him from behind the scenes, was awesome. This man has brains as well as courage, skill as well as might. Swara...my dear little mermaid, hold on to this one, as firmly as you can! 😳 😉

I just loved that last stretch of subtle, gentle SwaSanliciousness. Sanskaar both admires Swara's indomitable will and spirit in trying to ride away on Veer; and is really empathetic towards her pain at being misunderstood by her family like this. In a sense, they have become kindred spirits now; bound by the same pain, of being doubted and condemned by their own families, on rather contrived evidence and biased testimony! That's the dard ka rishta connect coming in----Loved how you did that Shru...👏 👏 🤗

And the way he reassured Swara, promised her that once his mission was complete--either way, if he succeeded or failed, he would ensure that she returned to the palace, her reputation cleared and the slurs on her disproved---was so awesome.

Swara could not help but trust him again, his sincerity and innate goodness shining through. The way they reverted to his affectionate terming of her as "Mermaid Princess", and the way she noticed his sunny smile, let him hold her hand in a comforting manner...😳 ☺️ I got waves of SwaSan feels here. 😉

Loved it, Shru. Waiting for the next chapter eagerly. 🤗

Viji dearest 🤗

You don't know how happy it made me to read this- have read it multiple times 😳. I am in the hotel again with the terrible wifi so if it starts playing up, I'll have to cut this short so if it looks like it is cutting off abruptly- it's because of that although I hope not!

Haha, yes Veer is symbolic not just of Sanskaar's bravery but of the pace of the story too now 😆.

I am so happy my Swara is being liked by most! I barely recognise the one on the show nowadays so I wanted to pen down the one that lives in my head- soft yet strong, fiery but still sometimes very vulnerable and all in all, spirited! Haha- we have had a long discussion re Kavita now so hopefully you are reassured now so I won't say much else here to prevent leaks 😉. In any event, Sanskaar will soon see her worth I would hope and she his 😳.

I remember very well us having that discussion on the Ragini chapter and you saying you hoped I would show the layers and guessing that I would and yes, you said then very accurately that Lakshya could not delve into those layers, for either sister really! I just wanted to explain why Swara would feel so bad about feeling a "failure" and it also I think puts some of her conflicted feelings more into perspective. She wants to run away back to her parents to explain, not quite able to believe that she won't be able to :(.
Ah yes- the true halves of a whole- these two! She wouldn't have to try to be someone she is not with a man like Sanskaar, just like he could himself let his mask of hardness slip with her 😳. Exactly as you say- Sanskaar is capable of loving a woman for who she is, not who he thinks she should be- the quintessential perfect man! Siggghhh.

Re Sanskaar- yes he is making his journey towards that point of realisation but he wants to not realise as you say, and the barriers are very much in place but already struggling to stay up:). The caring so much about her opinion of him is the most obvious sign!

Glad you liked the haveli and its setting- I just felt romance oozing from that sort of place and wanted them to get to know each other in a beautiful place 😳. As to whether Sanskaar realises before anything interrupts them, you will see soon enough- it's not totally straightforward but I think you will be pleased with the way it will pan out, even if it won't be smooth sailing 😉.

The old man- well Sanksaar told him they would go East but Sanskaar and the old man were canny enough to know that the soldiers would not necessarily believe Sanskaar's version as he could have lied. So to make his version authentic he said west but he had seen them head North and protected that. The intention was that solider might start searching both east and west but not really know about North for a little while at least. Of course they would catch on eventually but it would buy these guys time. As to his DIL- I don't think the old man would discuss his suspicions even with her so she spoke what she saw- which again was convincing enough to make the soldiers believe that the man spoke the truth. Sanskaar actually deliberately stopped at Moud to give out a false trail to throw his pursuers off when they came, as he knew they would 😃

Pleased you like the building up of the strategist in Sanskaar. Yes, he basically had planted a false trail previously (more on this will come later) which now someone fell for and tried to rob spots meant to contain supplies but were false spots and this gave him the signal which he had been waiting in MM for, that if he moved, the real traitor could be close. Yes!!! I so wanted to show them starting to bond over shared pain. Sanskaar will understand Swara's situation better than anyone and will also feel bad for being the one partly to blame for it and she will too see how much it must hurt him to be ostracised although of course she doesn't yet know any of his real story. Swara's heart is swaying towards him, as you say, she sub consciously already trusts him but doesn't recognise that and doesn't want to. So so pleased to read how much you liked it!

Now to seriously have to write the next one- have such strong ideas for it but it's trying to do justice to them in words! Had a terribly long and arduous day again today so no mental space and it's already getting late so does look like a weekend job!

Love you loads always xoxo

But in this update, I felt bad for swara. Because she was innocent. But her sister snatch her happiness. She became characterless for family. For a girl, who always wanted her family's happiness it is hard to face such a situation.
In the update a new character is introduced. But he is sincere to his prince.
And the escaping plans of swara failed twice in a day.
But in this update we got a new sanskar. Who really care for his friend. He was worried for her life.
And you beautifully described the journey in the desert. And the palace in the moon light.
Veer, the horse of sanskar was also a important character in this update.
Waiting for your next update

Hey Sakkiyah

Yes, I deliberately kept this SwaSan oriented and even dealt with the necessary Palace scene through the messenger:). As for Sanskaar- yes, he has a group of loyalists and his real mission is to find the traitor and to recover the map etc and reclaim his honour at least 😃. Swara does make the heart melt as she has suffered for being good and beautiful . Sushena- he is a true supporter of the prince:) and yes, Swara's attempts were both doomed 😆. So glad you liked the way this chapter panned out. I'll be back with 10 soon:) Thank you! x

I rarely read the stories in IF as I don't know why most of the times I can't connect with it ..but urs and viji s work is different ..I think I read ur resolved and did leave a comment there too when u were in vacation ..I chanced upon this yesterday only .i read everything in one go .and ended up with neck pain Shruti 😆 it is an amazing piece of work Shruti and left me with wanting more .i really don't have words to express how much I liked ur work set in historical era ..
It's going to a long post and please bear with me ..Read it when u have time ..
The torture Sanskar had to endure was painfull..happy the torment ended when Annapurna came to his rescue ..
The connection swara and Sanskar felt was adorable ..telepathic connection. Immediately he knew she is somebody who should be kept at a distance 😆.he knew she has the capability to foil his plans can make inroad in his heart ...swara was eager to meet him after all the tales she heard about him. Ragini the same but a lot more cunning ..
I don't know why I felt Kavita was no match to Sanskar eventhough u showed only glimpse of her ..she appeared quite childish considering the mature Sanskar ..why oh why he chose her ..looks like I am possessive here for my swasan as nothing appears perfect other than them ..but that childishness saved his life ..Kaveri has a much in depth role to play as I felt she is part of conspiracy ..that made him a traitor in his own country .
I really loved that Sanskar has a friend pawan who stood by him and the time he spent in palace he used it for his planning ..want to see a determined Sanskar who will restore his lost glory and save his country too..u have kept the surprise element fairly intact all through the narration while we will keep guessing to see the actual conspirator behind all this ..
I liked how u kept swara away from Laksh after engagement 😆 By keeping her in company with Sanskar .swara had her doubts regarding him but he was so masterful in keeping it away from her .i am glad that they were able to spent some time as it would help in the long run ..and Sanskar is already too much caring towards her .the way u explained the changing feelings in him was brilliant ..
Ragini carefully weaved all the stories about swara and played the friend part real well with Laksh ..
I loved it when Sanskar was suspicious of ragini and became the knight in shining at our for swara and rescued her from that monster ..and here u surprised me he killed that man who dared to touch her ..wow .he must have known by then she is really imp for him ..
Chapter 7 was brilliant with it twists and turns ..ragini did play a master stroke but he caught on to it at the right time. his decision to take swara with him was sudden and he knew she will die if she stays there ..she was shocked after the events eventhough her spirits were intact .i do hope to see her as a strong character Shruti , one who is perfect match to Prince Sanskar .i hope when situation arises she will show her worth .
She already is in confusion searching for the real prince behind all the facade ..hope she sees the real him sooner as she was perfect in reading his eyes while he saved her .
I loved chapter nine too as it was the first one which was swasan centric and really loved it .the attempts she makes to break free is cute . His horse also have a soft corner for her as horse knows his master really well ..hope he saves pawan too in time .eagerky waiting for the mysteries to unfold .along with progress in Sanskar and swara relation.,
Waiting for the next chapter .no pressure take ur time ..😊
Saji

Hey Saji xoxo
It's so good to hear from you- I was wondering where you were too recently! I have been rather MIA from the main forum due to work but yes, DK is keeping me very busy too- with every spare moment going in thinking about intricacies I need to address or then writing them down 😆 It made me so happy to read your take on this story- you made my evening- thank you so much! Wow- you read all the chapters so far in one go?! 😲 And you still liked it?! 😳.
Reading you describe it brought back all the memories of writing those chapters and made me feel seriously warm and fuzzy! 😳😳

So glad you liked the start and then the immediate connect between SwaSan. I can see you have reservations about Kavita like many others. But I can neither confirm nor deny anything there:) Be assured that even with the expected, I may try to slip things in that may surprise!
Ah, you don't know the endless struggle to maintain the surprises and twists- I have to be careful not to let things slip in comments and sometimes the very acute observations or those that are very far off too make me chuckle in a nice way 😃.

I really could not face a Swa Lak angle like in the show so I did what I did and am glad it seems to have been liked by everyone! Sanskaar's feelings are already complex and he reacted in a very telling way by killing that man. However his guard is very much up against any tender feelings so he is not immediately going to simply just succumb but I hope I will show any transition well:)Happy you liked 9 especially! And that horse is one smart animal- it does have a very good idea of his Master's growing soft spot for the Princess, hence he did let her on him and not throw her harshly off. He just put his foot down when she tried to run away with him 😆. Thank you for anticipating the next chapter, I just hope I don't disappoint:) Lots of love and please keep coming here to chat! xoxo

Hey Sanya! You like Veer too?He is adorable no? I love horses although I can't really ride! My BIL trains horses and every time we got to their farm, I get so happy seeing these beautiful stallions, although some are rather feisty, much like Swara 😆. Most horses will let a good rider ride them but some are of course very spirited and Veer is not only a war horse, he is intensely loyal to Sanskaar:) However, yes, he senses the soft spot his Master has for Swara so did let her sit on him but when she tried to go too far, he wasn't having it! 😆
Swara isn't thinking that clearly, she felt that if she could get to her parents she will explain and it will be ok, but ofc Ragini has done her job too well . And yes, Sanskaar's words have ensured a truce for now 😃 You too want Pawan not to be negative? I can't say anything as a lot of surprises in this one 😉 but I hope you will not be disappointed! Thanks so much for this!

Lots of love,
S xoxo
