Vishal Bhardwaj returns to big-screen thrillers with O’ Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri

Vishal Bhardwaj’s next feature film finally has a name. Titled O’ Romeo, the action thriller headlined by Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri is scheduled to release in theatres on February 14, 2026. The announcement came alongside the unveiling of its first poster, creating immediate buzz.

The poster shows a man, presumed to be Shahid, hiding his face with a tattooed hand while wearing a cowboy hat. His face stays concealed, adding mystery. Sharing the look on Instagram, Shahid captioned, “O’ROMEO .. this Valentine’s Day ??🔥 #SajidNadiadwala Presents A @vishalrbhardwaj Film.” The film wrapped its shoot in Spain earlier this year and has now entered post-production. This is the first time Sajid Nadiadwala is producing a Vishal Bhardwaj film, making the collaboration notable.

For Shahid, the project marks his fourth outing with Bhardwaj. The actor previously worked with the director in Kaminey (2009) and Haider (2014), both critically acclaimed for their layered storytelling and complex characters. In a note shared after completing the shoot, Shahid wrote, “And it’s a WRAP. My 4th collaboration with this special man @vishalrbhardwaj… A titular part from him for the 3rd time. I am one of the KAMINEY, I am HAIDER and now I am ……..”

The note also acknowledged his co-stars. Shahid praised Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, and Farida Jalal, while hinting at an undisclosed actor’s presence. He also thanked Disha Patani, with whom he shot two songs.

Described by the makers as a visually rich action thriller, O’ Romeo is expected to balance intense action with emotional undertones. Its Valentine’s Day release date hints at a romantic thread running through the story, despite its high-octane setup.

For Vishal Bhardwaj, the film marks a return to mainstream cinema after experimenting with projects like the short film Fursat (2023) and the streaming series Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley. Shahid, meanwhile, was last seen in Deva with Pooja Hegde earlier this year, while Triptii’s most recent release was Dhadak 2 opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi.

With a cast that also includes Randeep Hooda and Nana Patekar, O’ Romeo is being positioned as one of 2026’s most anticipated big-screen releases.
