Shru...go to sleep!! It's 2.30 in the morning there!! 😆
Un-Res
Hey Shru my dear...🤗 🤗
Sorry it took me a while to Un-res, I had some commitments to kiddo to attend to yesterday 😊 Children's park and play area. Had a blast! 😉
Coming to chapter 7, as I mentioned in my brief comment yesterday, I just loved it, my dear. Like I said, while all the preceding 6 chapters were lovely in the sense of adapting the serial plotline, with your customary research, hard work and the "Shru trademark" intensity 😉, this one re invented the plotline altogether, to a large degree. Fascinating! You know how much I love historical plots, with M M Kaye being one of my favorite authors. So this one really was a lip smacking treat for me.
Aside from the plot progression itself, I liked the metaphors you wove into the narrative. Swara's attachment to water, struck a chord within me as I am a water element zodiac sign myself 😉, and had conceived Swara as a water sign, in my Elements series. I agree with you completely, it certainly does depict her character very well, her capability of clear as well as deep thought, her adaptability and gentle fluidity, her giving nature. But there is that other side of water as well---the one we get to see when the river rushes in enraged spate, sweeping all before it. Wonder if you will show us this side of Swara as well? 😊
I would love to see this, Shru. If you have scope in your tale for a tempestuous, raging Swara contemptuously sweeping aside those who attempt to exploit and bind her, or the persons she loves...please do so. 😊
I loved your subtle but marked delineation of the differences between Swara's and Ragini's essential natures, too. Swara loves the sunshine--warm, bright, clear and transparent. Ragini, on the other hand, loves the twilight---the bright glare of day giving way to the subdued, shadowy hues of twilight! Lovely, so lovely. I agree with you completely here, Ragini's pressures of always having to conduct herself within the constraints of expected mores, of "perfect" behavior demanded of a princess, must have been stifling for her. And finally, all that proved too much to contain within herself, especially with her violently bubbling jealousy and intense emotions behind that facade of docility and meekness! I just loved this portrayal, I had explored in my way, the pitfalls of Ragini's cossetted, orthodox upbringing always demanding perfection from her; and I loved to read your take.
The chapter itself moved at a very taut and brisk pace. Sanskaar's emotions of disappointment and confusion about his own reactions to Swara's smiling greeting at the beginning. 😳 His defenses are crumbling, slightly at first, but steadily, nevertheless. He may convince himself all he likes, that he just wants to stay away to prevent suspicion from falling on her after he leaves, but it goes much deeper, and he is introspective enough to know it, as well! 😊
Ragini was just so conniving and sly here. As I'd expected, she doesn't just want to satisfy herself with having, in all likelihood, swayed Lakshya away from Swara, having planted considerable doubts in his fickle mind. She wants to just pluck out Swara, whom she deems a veritable thorn in her flesh, and fling her away! That whole facade of playing the loving, accepting sister has chafed at her inherent jealous, insecure, possessive nature for much too long.
My God, she actually engineered Swara to go in her stead to Sanskaar's apartments, to catch Sanskaar unaware when he was no longer pretending to be insane, and force him to silence her! What a cunning, evil genius this person is: she wants to use him as a cat's paw, to eliminate her own half sister, and is actually disappointed when he does not follow through.
The entire stretch of SwaSan's shocked reactions to each other was superb. And try as he might, Sanskaar felt tremendously pained by her obvious disgust of him, when she thought he was no better than a traitor, didn't he. 😉 Like I said before, his defenses are still very much up, but they're crumbling fast!
So he uses her as a hostage (Swara could never have realized, but I'm perfectly sure, that had she raised an alarm, he would never really have harmed her. He just couldn't!), to retrieve the part of the map, and some other package, from Shekar's apartments. Wonder what was in the other bag? BTW I'm sure he had planned the rebellion/ insurrection by his loyal friend Pawan Kumar, on precisely this night, so the number of guards would be less. Smart man, our Prince Sanskaar! 😊 (Or should I say, Princess Swara's Prince Sanskaar? 😛) What was great here also, was how quickly he worked out Ragini's machiavellian masterstroke. He realized that even if he had merely trussed up Swara securely, bound and gagged, Ragini would have consigned her to death and laid the blame on his door. He was compelled, really, to take Swara as hostage, to protect her, even more than himself!! I am so gleeful, still, that I predicted this before. 😆 😉
And then came the truly heartbreaking part of the update. Swara, so concerned about Ragini's safety, begging Sanskaar not to harm her, but realizing with a chill of almost incomprehensible dread, that her sister was the one who planned to have her killed! She was so pained, so shattered by this, Swara couldn't even react, could she. She just went into a shocked, almost uncomprehending state. And Ragini herself, far from showing even a modicum of shame or remorse, looked positively irritated that Sanskaar hadn't done away with Swara as she'd hoped. She had the temerity to shoot a look of pure hatred and loathing at Swara, her cherubic mask slipping at last!
I loved the way Sanskaar confronted Ragini here. Princess Nagini and Princess Snake! 😆 Nice and very apt descriptions! And I liked the way Ragini's smug and sly smile faltered in the face of Sanskaar's granite faced expression and menacing grin. She knows she's gained herself a formidable foe.
So now Sanskaar has taken Swara with him, I'm sure they have considerable mistrust and confused emotions between them to tackle. But couple of things I'm very glad for. One, she's realized he was the masked person who rescued her from that vile man who was trying to molest her, so she knows he felt genuine concern and anxiety on her behalf. And second, she knows that he has rescued her again from the certain death her sister had planned for her. That might at least soften her antipathy a bit, though not fully. 😛 Let's see how long it lasts, and how long Sanskaar keeps convincing himself that she doesn't affect him too much. 😉
Shru---I have a distinct feeling Kavita is alive...and you will bring her back just when SwaSan seem to be resolving some of their MU. 😭 I hope that I'm as wrong in this prediction, as I was right about the hostage bit, and Ragini's motive bit. 😉 And I wonder who saw the whole SwaSan ---Ragini interaction from that distant wing of the palace? Annapurna? She seems to have some genuine affection for Swara. Is this the same person Sanskaar spoke of earlier to Ragini; who could ensure that Ragini took Swara's place as Lakshya's bride?
Love you for making my weekend special with this chapter. Now please, please squeeze in time for Chapter 8 and give it to us the soonest you possibly can. 🤗
