Says no insult of draupadi happened so why did kurukshetra happened
And why such ignorance to karn in bori
He too was pivotal part of Mahabharata

Exactly what incomplete research is done on bori
When it deletes the character of karn to a point that even shishupal is mentioned more than karn in bori

You just called draupadi a bitch didn't you even In giving example one should not use cuss words and then u say that u follow Mahabharata ... O_O

As off quora you were rude in there yaar
U commented and judged my well researched answer from kmg version and so easily passed the judgment that it lacks research
I have provided all links even screnshots of official kmg still without thinking once you just passed ur opinion that day not even thinking for once that the person who has done research and provided links ...

U Just judge yaar so easily
And are you 2 different person be it on quora or india forums
I respect ur bori knowledge but that day u disrespected and disregarded my kmg knowledge

I felt so hurt

I chose to ignore it on quora but when I came to know that u are here discussing Mahabharata

Then I thought to intervene ...

When u that day called my answer lacking facts when the facts were present before u think about the pain I took before providing each link of kmg each screen shot
And amrita di what I got insult

Please answer me why did you pass judgment before not reading kmg and questioned the integrity ofy answer

As I have not read bori I never comment ur answers on quora I respect your knowledge
And I expect same from u

When someone writes an answer on quora and a well full research on every aspect at least I do
I could have replied you back on that very same day or commented on your well researched answer

But I chose to wait
I didn't chose to take revenge but in a subtle way remind u that its easy to judge but not easy to write

People here judge ...

Not only you di

That's why I intervened here when I could have replied easily on quora

U r the same person naa

Awaiting for your answer ...

Well...I have been reading KMG since 2013. In fact, that is wat I read first.
I came to know of BORI much later...
So I didnt pass judgment without reading KMG...I am not so dumb...😆 I actually pointed out the errors AFTER having both KMG n BORI for 3 years(though I admit, there are far more knowledgeable people here in this forum).

And who told u KMG is the 'most well-researched n complete' version?
Did u read it from those blogs on the internet? Ya...I know about many blogs, Facebook pages n sites where KMG has been called 'most authentic', but that is not entire true.

Check KMG's preface. He had said that he had only 'translated' from Bombay Edition n Bengal texts. These are the only sources of KMG's translation.
Ofcourse KMG is an amazing version...n it is one of those versions which every Mahabharat reader MUST read. But the knowledge doesnt stop there.

Bcoz Original Vyas' epic was around 8800 verses. Now it is 100000. So most of the things we find today are later additions. KMG had translated watever texts were available to him...n ofcourse he had done a MAGNIFICENT job. But his work is mostly a translation...not a researched version.

I would never disrespect KMG. KMG was the first serious unabridged version that I had ever read. But if I consider KMG as the end of the world...then the knowledge of Mahabharat will become stagnant.
Mahabharat has many other sources apart from the ones KMG had consulted.

Ofcourse Karna is an important character. Every character has its own brilliance n flaws...That doesnt mean that we stick to KMG till the end of Kaliyug, bcoz it has given more screen space to Karna.

And y did the Mahabharat war take place? U think it took place bcoz of Draupadi Vastraharan? 😆
No.
Mahabharat took place bcoz of many reasons...land, clashes between Rishis of different gotras, Kuru-Panchal rivalry n ofcourse the strife between the cousins. Do u think SO many kings fought n died bcoz Draupadi was disrobed?

Why the hell would one billion people fight n die for ONE woman? You think all those Kings cared so much for Draupadi? Ofcourse not. Some like Shalya n Drupad may have bothered but not all. Yudisthir himself was ready to forget Draupadi's insult in return of Indraprastha. So, y would those Kings care about her? And this is mentioned in KMG only.
U may ask any Mahabharat expert.
Satya Chaitanya, Jijith, Bibek Debroy, Krishna Uday Shankar, Ananth Neelkanth, etc. Their email jds are found online.
They would all agree that the war had much more complicated reasons.

And u felt insulted bcoz I pointed out ur facts were incorrect? Did u not read the apology note below the comment?
Well...my intention was not to offend u. And if u feel insulted bcoz someone points out the errors, then u have absolutely NO idea, what kind of ugly fights have takrn place in this forum.
I have been bashed, made fun of, taunted openly in posts here...😆 And nobody gave any apology note to me, like I had given to your answer.

Anyway...just chill off...😊
Enjoy the weekend...n you may do some research outside KMG.
I cant explain to u here how n y KMG isnt the most authentic...bcoz it is too vast a topic for my capability. But if possible, read up a few books like 'The Sanskrit Epics' by JL Brockington or 'The Meaning of Mahabharat' by Sukhthankar, you would be able to get a better understanding of the different versions...These books explain in details the various versions that are available. Reading only KMG doesnt make one a researched expert in Mahabharat...That's one thing, I had learnt in Mahabharat forum only.

I too used to blindly believe in KMG once upon a time...but after going through various discussions, I realized KMG, though a great version, isn't the ultimate one.

Have a nice day!! 😊

Like u said that many fights happen here on this forum and I hope mine was not a fight it was simply a question ...
First I will complete kmg ...
I am left with vana parv Adi parv stri parv and sauptika too
So I will complete that but I know Mahabharata many shoks have not been translated but the biggest translation is of ganguly ji so I would first read it completely rather than mingle around with other incomplete ones

And also I would read sukthankar
And I am not fan of commentaries of westerners

Do u know rajiv malhotra the eminent scholar
I Read his blog of Mahabharata and Vedas

Anyways on a happy note I don't like ugly insults taunts rather won't be courageous enough to tolerate such nonsense thereof I am happy on Quoting gita on Twitter

I rarely come here

Taking a chill pill for now ...
Ending the topic

Enjoy 2h of SPK and hail king of indraprastha and anga vrishketu ... ;p

Love to all karn fans and Mahabharata ones

Yes...please complete KMG first, before moving on to other versions. Bcoz unless u read up KMG thoroughly, you would not be able to figure out the inconsistencies in it.

I too dont like foreign commentaries much...but this book has given detailed info about the research work of BORI. U were asking, WHY n HOW some incidents have been removed by BORI like Draupadi's rejection of Karna...u will get ur answer in 'The Sanskrit Epics'.

And yeah...discussing the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita is far more satisfying than researching the various versions of Mahabharat. Bcoz first, the research itself is difficult, n then convincing people about the research is even more difficult. 😆
Bhagavad Gita is a relief in many ways...😊

Yes like u said kmg first then ... Others
But I will read them someday ...

Lol yes Mahabharata badlti rehti h
Par Krishna oovach always stays same

That's why our holy book is shrimad bhagvad gita not Mahabharata

Mahabharata is controversial
But the fruit is bhagwad

And ofcourse war happened not only due to insult of draupadi but every character from karn to bhishm to Krishna were responsible for war

My favorite shlok of gita is

yatha acheesi tatha kuru

That shri Krishna says at end of gita

To arjun

Arjun I have shared with you the secrets of all secrets now its upon u do as you wish

:)😉

Anyways are u or anyone here on Twitter

Can follow @Dailygita to read bhagvad gita every day
Or @Karnquotes to read interesting facts about Karn unknown and we also quote karn parva from kmg

OK much of endorsement 😃

You can also go on @Just1jyotsna on Twitter lol 🤗

As the epi was one hr long, seems like some of the scenes were dragged, such as Yudi in the rajya sabha just before leaving. Considering all those dyut sabha flashbacks, a part of me was thinking,"Isn't Draupadi the one who should do be doing the talking here?"

Speaking of Draupadi, Pankhuri was terrific!! The conviction and sarcasm in her speech when she puts her foot down to go for Mahaprasthan was simply outstanding... 👏

Vrishaketu seems to have got Karna's mukut (no difference between Karna & Vrishkaketu now!!).

Correspondingly, shouldn't Yudi have literally passed on his crown to Parikshit rather than crowning Parikshit with a separate mukut altogether?

Another scene that seemed stretched - The early part of the Mahaprasthan...
Indra actually asking them ALL if they want to enter devlok in physical form???
Pandavas carrying weapons during Mahaprasthan???

And when Indra asked them if they knew what mahaprasthan meant, I actually expected him to ask them,"Why are you carrying your weapons?"
Granted they are kshatriyas, but if they have retired from the world...

Pandavas & Draupadi traversing through farms and fields with weapons, settling down in the forest...thank goodness, the ending of the episode featured the Himalayas. Otherwise I was like,"Is this mahaprasthan or just another vanvaas???"😕

And that is one cute doggy who seems to have been taken by Nakul's appearance!! 😳🤣
(Draupadi's words, not mine!!) 😆

Precap - Family reunion!! 🥳
(Looking forward to THE moment of the Mahaprasthan 😉)

While KMG does mention Arjun still carrying his Gandiv while starting off for Mahaprasthan, it does NOT mention any of the other Pandavas doing so.
Infact, Agni asks Arjun to give up his Gandiv since there is no need to carry it around anymore -

"Dhananjaya had not cast off his celestial bow Gandiva, nor his couple of inexhaustible quivers, actuated, O king, by the cupidity that attaches one to things of great value. The Pandavas there beheld the deity of fire standing before them like a hill. Closing their way, the god stood there in his embodied form. The deity of seven flames then addressed the Pandavas, saying, Ye heroic sons of Pandu, know me for the deity of fire. O mighty-armed Yudhishthira, O Bhimasena that art a scorcher of foes, O Arjuna, and ye twins of great courage, listen to what I say! Ye foremost ones of Kuru's race, I am the god of fire. The forest of Khandava was burnt by me, through the puissance of Arjuna and of Narayana himself. Let your brother Phalguna proceed to the woods after casting off Gandiva, that high weapon. He has no longer any need of it. That precious discus, which was with the high-souled Krishna, has disappeared (from the world). When the time again comes, it will come back into his hands. This foremost of bows, Gandiva, was procured by me from Varuna for the use of Partha. Let it be made over to Varuna himself.'

"At this, all the brothers urged Dhananjaya to do what the deity said. He then threw into the waters (of the sea) both the bow and the couple of inexhaustible quivers. After this, O chief of Bharata's race, the god of the fire disappeared then and there."

So, in yesterday's epi, even if Indra (instead of Agni) had asked Arjun (& the other Pandavas) to give up their weapons, that would've been perfectly acceptable with me.

But, nothing of the sort. Add to that, for Indra to ask them if they wanted to enter devlok in their physical form...like?? 😕😕😕

I actually liked yesterday's episode.
Though Mahaprasthan is most probably later addition, it is one of my favourite Parvas.
I dont think Mahaprasthan has been shown in any rendition before...

Pankhuri was brilliant...but she doesnt look like nor does she have the body-language of a grandmother...😆 Nonetheless, I liked the group hugs.

I hope they stick to the epic atleast on the last day.

SHOW OVER!!!!
Party time!! 🥳

Just occured to me this morning -
SPMB Start date - 16 September 2013 End date - 16 August 2014 (267 episdoes)
SPK Start date - 29 June 2015 End date - 7 August 2016 (307 episodes)

Hence proved Sony Karna is indeed SidTPutra!! 😆😆🤣

Also, going by the above dates, SPK aired less than a year after SPMB ended.

So, if SidT now wants ANOTHER adaptation of MB to air less than a year from now, he can comfortably do so - music ready, script ready, dialogues ready, post-war episdoes ready!! 😆

Lasting memory from SPK - Love triangle and Paundrak!! 🤣

Bye, bye SPK! You won't be missed!! 😉
