^ Harsh truth is - not everyone sees the epics from the divine angle.

Some treat it like a way of life, n try to inculcate values from it.

Others treat it as history, n try to research the historical aspect of the epic...n make it their lifetime's goal to find out wat actually had happened in that era. Bankim Chandra, despite being a worshipper of Lord Krishna spent decades to research n wrote Krishna Charitra, where he logically showed how 16000 wives story is a myth.

Both perspectives are correct. It is one individual's choice to see the epic whichever way they want to see it.

If focussing on essence is the primary goal...it is one thing.

But if one becomes a staunch supporter of one character, n decides to pass judgment on other characters based on KMG just bcoz it favours his/her favourite character, then people will counter it with the concept of different versions of Mahabharat. I too have my favouritism n disagreements with others. But, owing to my favouritism, if I criticize Arjun based on Bheel Mahabharat openly in social media, then Arjun admirers will point out how Bheel Mahabharat is not in sync with Vyas' epic. There is nothing rude in that...Bcoz it is through such debates that I have acquired watever little knowledge I have of the epic. As long as there is logical explanations as to how Bheel Mahabharat is not authentic, I should be ok with it.

After passing harsh comments on Arjun, I cannot escape the counter arguments by bringing in 'essence' n 'inner meaning'. Bcoz people who understand the 'real essence' of Mahabharat dont show biased attitude or staunch support towards only one character. They realize the inner dilemmas of all characters without any attachment or favouritism- a feat I dont think I'll ever achieve in this lifetime.

This is where BORI comes in- as collaboration of all versions. Whether we like it or not, that's a different thing.

And debating on Mahabharat with conflicting ideals n verbal abusing(that happens on Youtube) are two different things.

However...if we decide to discuss about a particular character's greatness or mean-ness, on social platform n pass judgment n give character certificates based on one version that favours one's own favourite character, then the concept of different versions n authenticity comes in.

And yes...who said anything about disrespecting KMG? Ofcourse, KMG is one of the souces that any serious Mahabharat lover would follow. But it is not the only authentic version, as people claim to be.

That's all...bcoz there are other more researched versions as well.

I personally prefer BORI, especially after reading about the way they have researched for it.

His version is complete and present on sacred texts unabridged and complete of all the shloks

Ofcourse it is not perfect..
still has many incidents like Draupadi's Vastraharan which are interpolations. But I guess, if they bring out a second edition, they might remove more such incidents.

And u urself Said its imperfect and incomplete then why are you reading it second edition of incomplete version of Mahabharata so when are you bringing the next incomplete Mahabharat

U have some serious reading problems.

I called Draupadi a bitch? 🤣

I only quoted wat people often say about her...Just like people often blame Karna wrongly for Abhimanyu's death wen in reality, he was not the main killer. That's wat I meant.

And who said KMG is perfect? KMG too had deleted many verses...n yeah I have read KMG...most of it. In fact I read KMG before BORI.

And KMG is not a researched version...it's a translation of watever texts he had found namely, the Bombay texts n the Bengal texts. It is mentioned in his Preface.

And BORI is a complete version. Its Sanskrit version is complete. And the researchers have given description of why they have deleted some crucial verses. Ofcourse, for that u have to read up.

And who am I to delete incidents from Karna's life? 😆 BORI did...not just from Karna but from everyone else's as well. I just think they might be correct.

And did you just say 'bug off'? Why? Cant debate normally without shooing n bugging? 😆

Nevermind. It's no point talking anymore. It's not like I am very knowledgeable about the epic, but it's difficult to discuss with people who dont want to learn more from discussions.
