Today was a beautiful loop closure. Remember the vidaai scene where Ram goes to speak to Janak. Janak the Rajarishi the one who knows all the rules, one who has practiced all the rules is broken. Even Rajarishi Janak is unable to do the vidaai of his daughter. The desire of his daughter binds him from doing his duty. Putri Moh ties the father over taking the Rajrishi in him. It takes great time for him to accept the fact that his Janaki is married and has to be sent with her husband.

Once again today son-in-law and father -in-law faced each other. I would say it was a beautiful scene. Rajarishi Janak understands why Ram did what he did. Unlike others he sees the pain his son-in-law is in. Instead of accusing him, instead of questioning him he tells how he has managed to cut the bandhan of Moh Maya. How could he send the love of his life to the forest without creating a drama out of it. How could he stand listening to all accusations not a single person understanding his pain. He has gone beyond Rajarishi Janak the all knowledgeable. That scene was beautiful. A man to whom his family is asking question after question, a man who is living a lonely life breaking from inside his father in law comes as a breath of fresh air who understands him and his pain.

Janak gives everyone a piece of his mind also after coming out of the discussion with Ram. He asks his daughters to do duty properly. Ram has done his duty and Sita is also doing her duty. They should also do that. It is an indication even to Guru and Kausalya that they should stop questioning and blaming Ram. What he has done is according to Rajadharma. But what to do. Kausalya and Laxman both are guilt ridden as they couldn't stop Sita banishment from happening and for Kausalya the problem is more as she tells now no father will send his daughter to Awadh. Yes of course. The pretense, the hypocrisy of the place being unsuitable for woman now stands exposed which till date Awadh has pushed under the carpet. With the vachanpalan Ram has put blemish on the so called great Raghukul.

Now comes Janak -Sita scene. I loved the fact that after giving assurance to his son-in- law Janak gives assurance to his daughter. That her husband is lonely in her absence. Yes it will pain her, but it will assure her that her husband still loves her and only thinks of her. Just like in Ashoka Vatika Hanuman brings Ram's Mudrika ring. Janak also tells everything is not decided by society. People who has true knowledge know the truth. It was his way of telling if we are sure of our innocence how much ever painful it is, not to lose hope. Truth will shine over.

During Vidaai Ram and Sita assured Janak and today the father came to assure his children. It was a very beautiful scene.

Truth will shine over. Janak trust on dharm is impeccable. Janak is the only one who could understand ram is paramatma and that shows how much he had revered his son in law. Ram tells I don't how the world will see this relation but I have hurt myself and my beloved wife by this decision. The world will see Sita and this relation as the purest form of love for centuries to come. The Maryada purushottam breaking perceptions. Ram born a prince lived like a yogi like Janak said and by conquering the inner self he had conquered the outer world too.

It was a day of true wisdom ruling over!
Janak with his absolute wisdom had provided Ram and Sita warmth with his words . True to the word he had remained a source of complete understanding and support to both his son -in-law ( who revers him as a father ) and his beloved daughter in their times of grief . AT the same time his knowledge of the dharma Paripalan enables him to understand the predicament of Ram (who was not willing to part from sita when Janak wanted her to be taken to Mithila for her delivery), in sending away sita to forest for good !
A very very beautiful portrayal of Rajrishi Janak . His humble submission that he could not have brought himself to disburse the Rajdharma that Ram had executed was a very beautiful scene.
Perhaps these were the pointers that lead him to see the Paramathma in his son in law .
The ability to see the real truth in its actual depth - the penance of the king who had been practising the Rajdharma in spite of his personal pain , the humility in accepting his inability to do the same and the graciousness with which he advises his daughters to perform their dharma .

Thankyou SKR for bringing out such a wonderful charecter into the light at this juncture more specifically. Indeed a lot of learning is there for the society today from these scenes too.
Loved the way Rishi Valmiki assures his support for sita with his welcome to Janak . Had it been someone from Ayodhaya?!... that was a very interesting line . This goes to show that probably he must have encouraged Luv and Kush to seek question the Ayodhya vasis and seek justice for their Mother .

@Vipraja Valmiki teaches Ramayana to Luv-kush the story of their parents and Luv-Kush sings it in Ayodhya. They wish to see Sita and then they know Sita is banished. Then the question. how Sita who did AP was banished. What is Ram Rajya. Ayodhya has no answer. That singing of Ramayana by the kids is one of the most beautiful part of Ramayana itself

@ Shruthi, Ram's present condition is like a naughty boy fell from a height or a bicycle along with his kid brother / sister and every person has something or the other to tell him, like how could you go on the bicycle, how could you go to that height, why you didn't inform us while taking the child with you, and every one will be showcasing their love & care for the little child but the boy who got badly hurt by putting himself below the child while falling down and saved the little one from more pain will not be spared or cared. The father may even give him one or two slaps also. But only a mother will realize what he has done or say he was not even the one who took the child atop but has positioned himself under the falling child so that it shall not get hurt or end up with broken limbs. Only she can console him but that can be done only in the confines of the closed room as she doesn't want others to see her son's vulnerability as she knows by heart that her son will breakdown with her soothing words and she wants her son to be the stubborn, poised person to the outer world.

That is what raja Janak did, he knew for sure that Ram has a reason to send and it was not easy for him to do such a deed and he will be burning within and may collapse in front of him out of guilt. And he never wanted his other SIL, the very brother who thinks his bhaiyya as an epitome of strength, to witness such vulnerability Ram. But least did he knew that Ram's broethr's were the first people to witness his loss and how vulnerable he was to cut off his bond with his life to lead a lifeless life.

@jaya you bought out a beautiful analogy and I could actually relate to it. My younger uncle had taken me on the bicycle. He might be some 16-17 at that time and I would have been 5 or 6. I was sitting in front and my chappal fell. When I tried to retrieve it, my leg got trapped in the front wheel. It was some bruise. Actually my uncle's quick action helped in not getting a worse bruise. At home I got all the care, he got all the bashing for not caring, questions on how the chappal fell, poor child had to taken tetanus injection and what not. Though faint I still remember him standing by a pillar and listening to all the scolding he was getting without uttering a word. He used to check my bandage multiple times a day till it was healed and later whenever he took me or later my brother on bicycle he will see whether our chappals have backstrap so that they don't fall off just like that.

Yes Shruti, I am aware that Luv Kush will go and recite the story of Ramayana as taught by Valmiki and there by ask questions etc ,
The point that the kind of thinking the children would develop under this great Maharishi might have also been a factor in leading them ( along with the factor that they are sita's sons )to question the justice rendered to Sita , is what I referred to . Like the way Mithila sisters have been groomed by Janak have a special strength of mind to question etc .
In contrast , the generations of Raghukul never questioned about the acts of Raja Harishchandra's acts as they were only thinking from the vachan palan Reeti and a typical patriarchal society . Nobody including Ram had not questioned Guru Vasishta as the stress was on vachan palan at all costs !

I too recall a famous song of Ramayana sung by Luv and Kush in an old Tamil film .

I had just liked the way he was in support of sita and quite annoyed at the injustice rendered to her by Ayodhya vasis which reflected in his conversation with Janak .
