That makes sense, but also, my personal opinion and perception is that Nandini always, throughout the EMA, like in pretty much every episode, had some sort of inner reflection moment where she felt like she was sinning, stealing her best friend's husband, told herself it was wrong (or was told by others). There was even that episode, I think the karwa chauth one maybe? where she sees a reflection of her own-self talking sense into to her (like the kermit the frog memes).
Where as Kunal was consistent that there was nothing wrong in what they are doing, they are in love, etc., in fact a few times when Nandini would feel like they are doing something wrong and voice it to Kunal, he would be the one to say, no no we aren't doing anything that's wrong, what we have is pure and divine.
He even carried this thinking into the camp track after Mauli's drunk confession, when she fell asleep, he said to her "Tum apne jagah sahi thi aur mein apne jagah."
So for me, Nandini's grey character was always a little bit more towards the white scale than Kunal's.
