From the promo I always felt that would the story too. No best friend will snatch another person's husband and finally be okay with it. Not when the story is being told from this angle. It would've been okay if the story started out with Mauli and Kunal not being a happy perfect couple. But one of the biggest thing about the show was how much Kunal and Mauli loved each other.
Yup, you nailed my feelings exactly. A picture perfect marriage having an EMA was never digestible. I wrote about this a couple of days back.
In real life, something broken in the marriage leads to an EMA, cheating spouse feels horrible, they go to marriage counseling and try to figure out what exactly went wrong and then they work together towards a repaired marriage. I.e. - This was the problem, now let us work together towards a solution.
No problem was ever shown in the Maunal marriage
So basically after episode 100 or so, the story derailed from its track. Because up until episode 102, Nandini did sacrifice for Mauli. Then episode 103 was the horrible episode where Kunal confronts Mauli and tells her he loves Nandini, they are getting divorced in 3 days, he is not her Kunal anymore, and the fatal attraction suddenly turned into a full blown KuNan marriage 🤢
