@Red: Woman lawyers have come out in the open fighting marital rape. What do you mean Indian laws won't support it? Heard of Karuna Nundy, she is fighting day in-day out only to criminalize this brutal act and One fine day Indian laws WILL support it just like what they did for Section 377. These things take time. People have to start talking about it - for this to be criminalized. I am a marital rape victim and believe me, darling, it is just as painful and just as brutal - mentally and physically.

@Black: Nandini IS a marital rape victim. How she behaves IS the writing of the show - not what has happened to her. I agree that a marital rape victim would never jump in bed with anyone as soon as Nandini did - but that is POOR writing - NOT that she was not raped or she is not a rape victim.

And stop comparing apples and oranges. Rape and Cheating are two different things and can never be equal. Stop spreading the wrong social message until you have endured any of it.

It's wrong for someone to forceful tries to have sex with you. But when it comes to husband and wife, rape shouldn't be the word to use, maybe harassment or some other type of word should be used. Because the rape we see in the news of girls getting jumped by random men and they put metal in her stuff is much worst.

Marital rape is a legal term defined for rape when a spouse sexually forces himself/herself on the partner. Its criminal offence in MANY countries. And that is the right word to be used.

Putting metal and stuff is NOT an actual act of rape - it is a heinous and brutal crime. Rape is forceful sexual intercourse and that is a term valid for in any relationship - married or unmarried.

I think Marital rape is worst because you are living everyday with this person who you are supposed to trust and you just never know what can happen at any time. It's like the assaulter has free access to the victim, day and night, 24/7

If you love this person and married because of the love you had, why you want to live with him? I understand if you have financial reasons but if someone raped you and you decide to still be married, that doesn't make sense to me. Leave

Exactly in marriage if hubby has forceful sex why live with him and call it as rape ..unless he locks u in house every day and cuts access to rest of world.

U CAN get separated and At least do some odd jobs and live in slum ..why get raped every day i.e u feel it is rape

I respect victims ..never Interacted with marital rape victims .So here some one telling they r marital rape victims ..if they r telling truth I respect them and I will change my view regarding marital rape.

And honestly nandhini has no justification since her character never behaves like rape victim so in her case please stop supporting her bcos she us rape victim ..Bcos she never behaves like that

chances of getting raped by some men in slums .

In india woman are raped just for anything.

So getting raped by husband is much safer.

Thats the condition of woman in india.

Its not that easy. Look at Nandini. Some women are dependent for financial reasons, family pressure, society pressure and sometimes its as simple as "fear". Even if you are a strong confident woman, this does chip away your confidence and you start becoming a shell of yourself. Plus there are whole bunch of people around who still say, "So what's, its his right" which forces these women to continue their marriage as its very difficult to find support.

Every case is different, and its takes a strong determination and sometimes support to get out of such a marriage. I would also blames our society which teaches that marriage is the ultimate, husbands are necessary and divorces are bad which stop women from taking that first step.
