Wow savvy di, you already made a post..Whatever you said is so true.. My mother being a part of a renowned women's NGO, I get to see such cases of domestic violence a lot..We people very easily say she should have stood up for herself, she should have done this & that..But none of us know what that person is going through..These abuses, not only leave physical marks but also affect their mental condition..We may say how can a modern day educated girl accept such behaviour & not stand against it..But trust me no amount of education or awareness helps at that time.. All they need is someone to be by their side, someone to make them believe its going to be alright & they are not alone..Our NGO's resident psychiatrist had once said us about human psychology..We humans tend to believe things if someone again & again tell it to us even if subconsciously we know its not right..Women compared to men have a tender heart & a stronger restrain & endurance.. This sometimes makes us vulnerable, & is easier for men to control us.. We are not weak but are just delicate at heart.. Infact women are stronger than Men.. Those women are able to survive even after going through so much.. Women can tolerate 1000 times more pain than Men both physically as well as emotionally...And one more thing, its not that they do not protest at all.. In many of their case they do protest when it starts, but with no support, their voice is suppressed & they are tortured more.. And along with constant abuse, they are made to believe they are useless & have no self worth.. And as said earlier, hearing same thing again & again , they tend to believe these things..You know what is the most horrible thing in the cases that I have seen?? Their own family, inspite of being educated & all, do not support their daughters over their family honour..So, I think we should not judge Nandini & people like her, as we have not been in their situation & we are not aware of their psychological & the all the mental trauma they go through, along with the physical abuse..
