And just when he was expecting something different, she spoke up...her voice sounded tired..."You shall not do anything of this sort at all. "

He thought that he did not get her words properly...what was she saying. She was visibly upset. He waited for her to go on... "You shall not do anything of this sort at all"...she repeated... "It is true that I have feelings for you...I cannot deny that...maybe it is love...but still I insist you shall not do anything of this sort"

This time he spoke up impatiently "...and why not?...why on earth should I not do that?"..."Because...your engagement has been fixed with my younger sister...she is very happy about this...and this declaration of yours shall have her heartbroken"

This girl has absolutely lost it...thought Rajat. She needs to realise the consequences of this. "Do you believe in God Anu?"...he asked. "Of course I do...what sort of a question is this?" she asked confused. "Then you must realise Anu that this was an indication from Him...this engagement was stopped at that penultimate moment...this is some sort of a divine intervention...we must take the indication from Him." She kept quiet. She was too tired and dazed to think anything. She couldn't deny her love for Rajat...but she also loved her sister dearly...her brain had absolutely stopped working. She was not in a position to take any decision right now. Rajat sensed it and before she could reply...he said "I know you are exhausted...too many things have happened today...I shall leave now...but I expect...that very soon both of us shall announce about this to our families"...and he left. She stood there stunned. She felt a pang of guilt...when she realised how she felt during Rajat's confessions. She blamed herself. How could she have that feeling...specially when the engagement of one of her sisters was stopped midway...and the other was in the hospital. She sat down in the corridor, her eyes were too heavy, and she slowly dozed off. Poor girl...she was not at all ready to change her colour of love from black to a bright one.

There in the room, Peeya woke up with a severe pain in her shoulders. Probably the effect of pain-killers was wearing off. Slowly she recalled what had happened. She had witnessed an unthinkable incident that day, which had forced her to take that drastic step...but now she needed to share this information with somebody. This was a horrible conspiracy against her family and she needed to expose the guilty. Slowly she moved her arms and reached out for the bell. As soon as she pressed it, the screech woke up Anushka from her slumber and she ran to Peeya's room. She asked her whether she was okay and whether she needed to call the doctor. Peeya replied "I am better now...the physical pain is there definitely...but there is something which is bothering me a lot...and I need to tell you that immediately".

" You are too weak Peeya..." started Anushka...but she was stopped midway by Peeya..."...but this is something which involves the well-being of our family"...she knew very well how to make Anushka listen to her. She went on "...I need to tell you that it was I who stopped Devyani's engagement today..."

Anushka thought Peeya was feeling guilty... "It was not your fault Peeya...it was just an accident..."

Peeya looked at her intensely..."What I need to tell you is this...that it was I who stopped this engagement...DELIBERATELY..."

Hey Anu, wanted to share my thoughts more detail now, i read all the chapters in a go while i was at the doc's office waiting..This is so beautifully written, unlike the show. The emotions and Mus are rightly timed and cleared...Please write more and waiting for the next update :D.

Peeya looked at her intensely..."What I need to tell you is this...that it was I who stopped this engagement... DELIBERATELY..."

Anushka was dumbstruck. What was this girl saying? Probably she injured her brain a bit too much...she was definitely not in her senses.

"I am very much in my senses"...said Peeya...as if reading her sister's mind. "I know what I am saying...and let me repeat it...it was I who stopped Devyani and Rajat's engagement...Deliberately. I have injured myself purposefully so that this engagement could be called off"

"But why?...Why did you have to injure yourself to stop this engagement? So many things could have happened to you...why did you have to risk your life?"...so many questions were running in her mind...her head was reeling.

"Listen to me carefully. I need to tell you something and it is very urgent. Unknowingly, our family has become the part of a conspiracy."...and Peeya related the entire incident which had occurred just before the engagement ceremony. Anushka was too shocked for any reaction...was Peeya hallucinating?...No she wasn't. She was telling something which was making some sense...since some time back Rajat himself declared his love for her...and apparently his mother knew about it. She had intentionally fixed Rajat and Devyani's engagement to hurt the Shastri Sisters!!...she wanted Anushka to blame and accuse Rajat for calling of his engagement with Devyani...Minti Sareen just hated the Shastri Sisters...but why??...Right now Anushka was not much interested or bothered to find that out. What Peeya was relating...definitely needed to be communicated to Devyani and Alka. This was priority before things went out of control and beyond damage control.

Anushka was surprised to find out how quickly her little sister Peeya had grown up...she felt proud of her...she was grateful to her...for saving them from the disgrace and humiliation.

From the hospital window she realised that dawn was breaking. The darkness was over. Anushka was fatigued and jaded...wearily she reached out for her phone...her sisters needed to come to the hospital as soon as possible. This matter needed to be sorted out right away...but of course in the unique manner of the Shastri Sisters from Kanpur.
