Ode to the Masala Dosa

O Masala Dosa, thou crispy delight,

Thy taste, a symphony of flavors unite.

Born in South India's land of spices,

A culinary marvel that entices.

From humble origins, thou didst rise,

A gift to taste buds, a grand surprise.

With rice and lentils, thou art made,

A batter fermented, in tradition laid.

Thou cometh forth upon the griddle's heat,

A golden treasure, a feast to greet.

Thy surface thin and lacy fair,

Conceals within thy filling rare.

Spiced potatoes, a savory treat,

Enwrapped in thy crepe-like sheet.

A marriage divine of spice and starch,

Awakens senses with every march.

Thy tangy chutneys, a perfect pair,

Coconut, tamarind, a flavorsome affair.

And sambar's embrace, a warming potion,

Completes the feast with utmost devotion.

Thou art a tale of culinary art,

A history etched with love from the start.

From humble street food to tables grand,

Thy popularity spreads across the land.

In bustling cities and towns afar,

Thou art a favorite, a shining star.

In diners and restaurants, thou dost reign,

A dish beloved, that will never wane.

O Masala Dosa, thou art divine,

A culinary masterpiece, so fine.

With every bite, a journey I roam,

Madhurima Sil and Major Param Singh looked at each other and unlike most of the human race, they did not require a second, third, or more glances to learn more of the other's mind.

Param Singh nodded his head in courtesy and respect and introduced himself and the others to Madhu who in a soft and melodious voice thanked all of them and turned her attention to him, ' Major, I find myself at a disadvantage here with you and your team.'

' Why is that ma'am?'

' Okay, Major. First things first. What happened to Spartan and if his sudden disappearance was not mysterious enough, his replacements too seem to have vanished and here you are with your men? What is going on, Major?'

Param smiled evasively but his eyes remained locked on Madhu and in turn, found her eyes locked onto his mind and every thought. Raman had told him that the lady was smart and at a different level and he realized that the words were true and deciding that honesty was the best way forward, smiled and said, ' Ma'am, believe me, but I and my men are as much in the dark about what is going on with this situation concerning you.'

Shrugging his shoulders, ' As far as this gentleman Spartan and the other two are concerned, my answer is the same as the first one.'

' I believe you Major ' Madhu told him and then her eyes scanned every detail about all of them and she asked, ' So, the rumors are true. You do exist.'

Major Param's eyes widened as he pondered the question and then questioned it, ' Pardon me, ma'am. But, you have me at a disadvantage.'

Madhu's laughter sounded like the soft gurgle of a playful stream in his ears and it was so infectious that he too smiled back and asked, ' I am sorry ma'am but I have no clue as to what you are alluding to.'

' A roaring lion wearing our tri-color flag ' she said and pointed to the emblem on his left shoulder. Param looked at it and cursed himself in his head, ' Where does Raman find all these geniuses, and then he sends me to work with them?'

He looked at her with a goofy smile that was neither here nor there that Madhu finding it absolutely hilarious and also very endearing told him to relax.

' Major Param, it's all right. You and your Chakravyuh are safe with me. '

Casting an eye on his team, she informed him that she would be back in a few minutes and left him to ponder on his own and in his head.

Havildar Sujindar and the other guards watched as both men disappeared into the base and turned to the others, ' Did you see that badge on that officer's shoulder?'

All of them nodded and one of them said, ' Strange one. A circle with a lion roaring in it with our national flag wrapped around its body. I have never seen anything like that before.'

Another Sepoy asked Havildar Sujindar,' Saab, what does it stand for ?'

' I was not even sure if it existed but I am now after seeing it with my own eyes.'

He looked at the others, ' There are many secret organizations that are part of our National security and all of them have their own designated jobs and duties. But, I believe that there is one organization that supersedes all of them and is the one that the Prime Minister himself calls for when extreme force is required.'

"சார், தனியா வந்திருக்கீங்களா?" என்றார்.

"ஆமா சார்"

"நானும் என் ஒய்ஃபும் சேர்ந்து வந்திருக்கோம். சீட் எக்ஸ்சேஞ்ச் செய்ய முடியுமா?"

"புரியுது சார். உங்களுக்கும் ஒய்ஃப்புக்கும் வேற வேற இடத்துல சீட் போட்டுட்டாங்க. அதானே?"

"இல்லே சார். ரெண்டு பேருக்கும் பக்கத்து பக்கத்துல போட்டுட்டாங்க. நீங்க என் பக்கத்துல வந்து உட்கார்ந்தா ஒய்ஃபை இங்கே தள்ளி விட்டுடுவேன்"
