Avan, Aval Adhu 432
Madhu entered the house searching for Ravi and spotting his mother and Daksha in the kitchen, turned and looked at Parthiban who was sitting alone at the dining table, and asked him ' Where is Ravi? In the garden? '
Partha used his right thumb to indicate a large curtain behind him and on cue, Madhu heard some noises coming from that direction and with a quizzical look on her face said, ' My memory may be a bit hazy for it has been twenty-five years since I last visited this house. But, I am pretty sure that there was no room here back then.'
Parthiban smiled, ' Your memory is perfect and correct for there was no room back then ' and pointed to all the tall bookshelves, ' none of them were here. They all came after.'
' After. You mean after my leaving, Partha?'
He looked at her with tender eyes and replied sadly, ' After you were forced to leave. After you were forced apart from each other, Madhu.'
Two middle-aged souls looked at each other through eyes of youth and old but fresh memories and she whispered in a ghostly manner, ' How has he been? How has he coped all these years?'
' God only knows. Better, only your man knows ' and smiling, ' They say it is impossible to draw even a drop of water from a piece of rock. But, I say it is impossible to get to Ravi to talk about his.....' and looked at her, ' you and him and his thoughts.'
She looked at the long curtain behind which obviously lay a door and looked at Parthiban who said, ' It is a bit of that and a bit of this. But, it is his place and where he spends most of his free time.'
' You mean a sort of den that men retreat into to safeguard their privacy and pride?'
' Maybe, but I think it is his place of worship...' Parthiban said and paused and looked away from Madhu.
' place of worship?' she repeated his words and dragging his eyes back into hers, Partha answered, ' Yes, a temple and a shrine.'
Madhu's eyes filled with tears hearing him say those two words and whispered, ' Life and death. Heaven and hell.'
Parthiban's voice was gruff and choked with emotion, ' Half dead and Half alive. Undead.'
She looked at the door longingly and with downcast eyes said, ' It is the same. It was the same for me too. I had no choice in my life.'
Placing a soft and loving hand on her head, Parthiban said, ' Madhuji, none of us really have any choices in our lives. We just play the game with the cards that are dealt to us. There are no real winners or losers in this game.

At some point in your adult life, you stop and go in your head ( if you are lucky ) or scream out in public ( loony tune ) " WTF is life all about? Is it just me or is it the same for everyone else? Life in general and love, in general, are not worth the collateral damage they extract from you and from those around you and in the blast radius.
Hydrogen and oxygen are two elements that go hand in hand with fire and explosions and yet they come together to form water. I look at love and marriage as that combustion that makes water.
Forget flammable, inflammable, and combustible and noncombustible elements and just take two souls, two lives, two human beings and bring them together. Ouch!
“I kept always two books in my pocket, one to read, one to write in.” Robert Louis Stevenson (Scottish novelist, poet, and travel writer, most noted for writing Treasure Island, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde)
People you love will leave you. People who love you will leave you. Yes, you too will leave behind people, love, and life. The exit could be permanent through death or impermanent through life. By life, I mean fights, disagreements, betrayal, and choices. But their spirits linger on through memories and they live on in the realms that you create in your head.
Books are spirits too. The writers are long dead but through their words, books, and creations they live on in all of us and through us.
I have been in love with books, reading, writing, and through it creating.
Magic and magic worlds of my own, that I own of which I am the king. My subjects are all my favorite characters from my favorite books like Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Tom Brown, David Copperfield, and Robinson Crusoe.
In the middle of a scene, amidst other actors in the scene and on the set, I slip in and slip out of my own dreams and dream world and only wake up in this current, present, temporary world when someone says, ' Sir, enna expression. What acting? ' and I smile and slip out of that moment and slip into my magical world and smile at the masters before me.
Who are they? All the characters from all my favorite movies.
I hear one of my masters whisper, ' Konjam flata pannu. Good. Mix both, satish. Acting is in the end entertainment and an illusion. We, actors, are magicians and are expected to create magic and new magic each time we climb onto the stage. Just like we are all expected to perform in life and on its vast stage.
In case you are wondering which master whispered to me. You wondered right. My favorite teacher. Villupuram Chinnaiya Manrayar Ganesamoorthy aka Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan.
Four Stages of Elimination in Life
At 60, the workplace eliminates you. No matter how successful or powerful you were during your career, you'll return to being an ordinary person. So, don't cling to the mindset and sense of superiority from your past job, let go of your ego, or you might lose your sense of ease!
At 70, society gradually eliminates you. The friends and colleagues you used to meet and socialize with become fewer, and hardly anyone recognizes you at your former workplace. Don't say, "I used to be..." or "I was once..." because the younger generation won't know you, and you mustn't feel uncomfortable about it!
At 80, family slowly eliminates you. Even if you have many children and grandchildren, most of the time you'll be living with your spouse or by yourself. When your children visit occasionally, it's an expression of affection, so don't blame them for coming less often, as they're busy with their own lives!
At 90, the Earth wants to eliminate you. Some of the people you knew have already departed forever. At this point, don't be sad or mournful, because this is the way of life, and everyone will eventually follow this path!
Therefore, while our bodies are still capable, live life to the fullest! Eat what you want, drink what you desire, play and do the things you love.
Remember, the only thing that won't eliminate you is the Whatsapp group. So, communicate more in the group, say a hello, maintain your presence, be happy, and have no regrets!

Mr Singh and his wife were having a candlelit dinner.
She says *"Pass the wine, my divine"*
He thinks, 'how poetic'... so he also tries to add his bit by saying *"pass the roti, you moti."*
Rest is history!
Later during an interview from the hospital bed, Mr Singh clarified that by *'Moti'* he meant *'a Pearl'* but was misunderstood *as usual.*
Avan, Aval Adhu 433
Those who are nurtured best, survive best. The problem is, when you depend on a substitute for love, you can never get enough.
It took very little pressure from her to push the handle down and open the door and enter the room that lay behind the curtain. The door opened granting entrance to Madhu who stepped in and stood gawking at the large teakwood shelf that towered over her and right up to the ceiling.
She craned her head backward to look up and took in the three-foot-wide bookshelf that stood nearly twelve feet tall and then turned to the right and left and took in the view of the whole room and whispered aloud in awe, ' Twelve bookshelves and counting and that too in this room alone.'
' Two more rooms, Madhu ' Ravi whispered and stepped out from the last shelf that stood to her right and raised his hand in a greeting and her keen eyes caught sight of the book that was held aloft.
Wearing a sweet smile on her lips and bearing an aura of love and light all around her, she slowly sauntered towards him, her eyes filled with his sight.
' Jaanu ' she sighed his name and glanced at the book, ' Sangam Ancient Tamil History by Mithran ' then glanced at the shelf that itself was labeled " Tamil Sangam literature " and looked at him.
Ravi smiled and carefully placed the book back on the shelf and patted it lovingly. It was an unconscious act on his part that he performed unaware that her eyes were watching him and his every movement.
He glanced at her and at his hand on the book and exhaled loudly, ' I don't know when I started doing that but I know I have been doing it for a long time now.'
' So, why and what are you doing here? ' and using her right-hand thumb to indicate the world that lay outside, ' You have a dozen visitors outside and you are here visiting your friends, and that too ancient ones.'
Smiling, Ravi looked at her with curious and inquisitive eyes and asked, ' Spartan. How long have you known him?'
' I met Spartan just yesterday morning. So long is not the apt word to describe our knowing... although' she looked at him and he completed her reply.
' Although he makes one feel as if they have known him for a long time. Right?'
Madhu nodded her head, ' Exactly. Although....' she stopped and again Ravi smiled and said completed her answer.
' Although, when you think about it, you begin to realize that he seems to know more about us than we know about him.'
Bending his head a bit, he muttered, ' Kavin, Kavin ' and looked up at Madhu, ' I know I have heard that name before. It's just that I am not able to recollect where I have heard it being said or who I heard saying it.'
' Jaanu, I googled that name and found out that Kavin means Light, bright and beautiful. So, what is the big deal about that name?'
' Madhu, it is not just the name Kavin but its literal Tamil meaning that is haunting me.'
She looked at him, ' Why? What is the Tamil meaning?'
' Azhagu. Azhagan.'
Madhu blinked her eyes a couple of times and smiling said,' Actually, coming to think of it, Kavin was beautiful. But, his beauty ran deep, way deep into his soul. That is something very rare and I have seen it and felt it in very few people.....' and stopped and looked at Ravi, ' I see that same beauty in you.'
' Thank you, Madhu. But, it is not the meaning of his name that is killing me but the memory of it that seems to be eluding me.'
She pouted her lips and complained, ' Baby, it will come to you eventually. But right now, we have other things to think about.'
' Like, if we are getting married tomorrow or some other day in the future ' he asked and she looked nervously at him and nodded.
He pulled her close to him and said, ' You are everything to me. You mean everything to me. I have lived most of my adult life with you in my thoughts and in my heart. Every breath I took and am taking is with you in it.'
He bent his head and kissed her and took her breath away and after a long soft, sweet lingering kiss, he raised his head and said, ' There is no marriage that can equal the purity and sanctity of our love. So, my darling wife, in my opinion, we are already married and are now husband and wife.'
