wow, thankyou, never knew all this 😃 that is why the pronounciation is also so different.. kannada seems almost like telugu in script although a lot different, it's easier to speak Kannda in comparison to Tamil, and easier to pronounce Tamil in comparison to Malayalam. Even the scripts... Kannada < Tamil < Malayalam.. the complexity of the script from the looks i mean :p

I will surely look it up! Love how this thread has taken an interesting turn :-)

BRB, kinda busy :D

You're welcome. :)) About the pronunciation, it is probably because Malayalam has the highest no. of phonemes (distinct units of sound in a language) amongst Dravidian languages. Around 63. Tamil has around 44, I think. Not sure about Telugu & Kannada. But yeah, this is likely why other Dravidian speakers may find it harder to understand Malayalam - both listening & speaking wise. They have a bit of an advantage, that way.

All the scripts look equally daunting to me lol I don't have much knowledge about the scripts, unfortunately. Yes! Very interesting. I couldn't resist jumping in. :P

I haven't read the last few posts. Has Mumbai Police been mentioned? I've heard it's a good one.

There are some decent film blogs dedicated to Malayalam films. Here you go-

I should read about this...will read this now while going to sleep :p

You know a lot about Dravidian languages, or linguistics - are you a student or is it acquired knowledge from reading out of interest? :)

1. Such a lovely song.
2. Shreya's pronunciation of languages is spot on even in languages she does not know.
3. Kerala is truly God's country. So pretty.

So far I have read page 1. 😆

Iyobinte Pusthakam- period drama , absolutely riveting
here is the trailer. I absolutely suck at this embedding business

Also MaheshintePrathikaram- a slice of life humourous film but its absolutely no glamour involved. The hero of the movie is the script.
